Sex & Nudity

- Some jokes about two main characters who live together acting "gay"
- Sex is sometimes talked about, and the two main characters commonly have or mention sex.
- However, any sexual activity that is shown in the show is pretty mild in nature. We never see the more "graphic aspects" of sex in the show.
- Sexual jokes are sometimes made.
- Carrie (one of the main characters) sometimes shows her cleavage.
- There is one scene in two different episodes ("Steve Moscow" and "Gorilla Warfare") where two people make out passionately. However these two scenes only last for about two and a half seconds.
Violence & Gore

- In several episodes over the history of the series Carrie is seen being physically abusive toward Doug. Carrie is seen twisting Doug's nipples or punching him in the stomach.
- Any violence that occurs is very mild and is probably intended to be funny and comical. No graphic or intense violence whatsoever.
Profanity

- Some episodes have uses of piss.
- The words bitch, ass and bastard are frequent. Slut and whore are occasionally used on the DVD version
- "Damn" and "hell" are used many times.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- Characters are shown drinking alcohol in several of the episodes. The drinking is almost always responsible, however.
- One of the main characters occasionaly smokes.
- One character in one episode has been addicted to nasal spray.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- The show is a sitcom and thus it is always "light" and humorous in nature. Nothing scary whatsoever, even for little kids.
- The argument between two central characters in episode "Foe: Pa" is intense for kids since the argument happened here happens in families.

- One episode involving a miscarriage which some people may find upsetting
- In one episode, one of the main characters is threatened by his stalker through e-mail and doesn't reveal himself. This might disturb some kids.
