- The first cut, which was supervised by Michael Lindsay-Hogg and The Beatles themselves, ran for 210 minutes. It was screened in a private screening room on 20th July, 1969. After the screening, three of The Beatles wanted further cuts to be made. According to Mark Lewisohn's "The Complete Beatles Chronicle", a second version was edited in the absence of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. This new cut (with a considerable amount of "John and Yoko" footage cut out) became the 81-minute release that made the cinemas. In an interview on the "I Am The Eggpod" podcast, Lindsay-Hogg stated the footage confirmed that the deleted was contain a large amount of footage of John Lennon and Yoko Ono sitting alone away from the group, "whispering to each other". Overall, Lindsay-Hogg said about "one reel of film" was removed.
- The 56 hours of film footage and over 150 hours of audio captured during the making of this film was digitally restored and remastered by Sir Peter Jackson and his crew at Weta Digital in New Zealand. Originally intended to be re-edited into a theatrical-length feature to be released in 2020 (the 50th Anniversary of the original film), the film was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was re-edited into a three-part miniseries (now running at 7 hours 48 minutes in total), The Beatles: Get Back (2021).
- When the film was released on Disney+ in 2024, there were some minor changes (mostly cosmetic) made from the 1970 original theatrical version:
- The film now begins with a 4:30 prologue, "Get Back to Let It Be", in which Sir Peter Jackson and Michael Lindsay-Hogg discuss the film's legacy and its connection to Jackson's miniseries The Beatles: Get Back (2021).
- The logo for United Artists has been replaced with the Apple Corps logo.
- The two "curtin wipe" transitions, from "I Me Mine" at Twickenham Studios to "For You Blue" at Apple Studios, and the recording of "Let It Be" to the rooftop concert, have been replaced with hard cuts.
- The original freeze-frame ending, wherein "Get Back (Reprise)" plays over a "The End" title card (in Beatles typeface), copyright information, an MPAA certificate and filming locations text, has been removed. In its place is a modern credit crawl (which lists the entire 1969 film crew, 2024 restoration crew and song credits), over which three songs play: "Oh! Darling", "Down By The River" and "I Lost My Little Girl".
- The 2024 restoration is presented in a full-frame 1:33.1 aspect ratio, rather than the cropped 1:85.1 ratio of the 1970 theatrical prints.
- The mono soundtrack was remixed in Dolby Atmos, using the AI software MAL.
