President Barack Obama was given the 2017 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award on Sunday, and he used his speech to urge members of Congress to exhibit courage in the current battle over health care. The John F. Kennedy Library and Foundation honors political leaders each May who have exhibited “the qualities of politically courageous leadership” President Kennedy outlined in his 1957 book. In the book, Kennedy profiled eight senators who took unpopular but ultimately good positions despite the political risk. In his 30-minute speech, President Obama invoked the fight over the Affordable Care Act and called on members of Congress...

Ellen DeGeneres hit a record-breaking total of 20 People’s Choice Awards at the annual awards show on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
“Tonight her People’s Choice Award total hits 20? I don’t know how that’s possible,” Justin Timberlake, who presented DeGeneres with the honor, said after showing a montage of DeGeneres’ previous wins, dating back to her 1995 victory for Favorite Female Performer in a New TV Series for Ellen. “Let’s bring them all out.”

Not even awards season can keep Ben Affleck from his adorable kids. The actor/director took cute little Seraphina, 4, out for a personal daddy-daughter breakfast at the Brentwood Country Mart, and even let Seraphina snag a cookie on their way out!
Ben Affleck might be the perfect guy — giving endearing speeches at awards shows by night, and taking his daughters on solo breakfast dates by morning.
Ben & Sera Affleck’s Cute Date
On Monday morning, Feb. 4, Ben took Seraphina — Sera for short — to one of the family’s favorite spots, the Brentwood Country Mart in Los Angeles. It looked like a nice little one-on-one date between the award-winning director and his four-year-old daughter.
We continue to melt for the seemingly endless amount of cute pics of the Affleck family. It’s amazing that no matter how busy Ben and wife Jennifer Garner are with their careers, they always seem to...

Following its premiere at Sundance, a Q&A was held for Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant's feature film directorial debut, Hell Baby, and we have a transcript of the festivities right here for you. Read on!
In Attendance: directors Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon.
Q: How much of this was scripted and how much was improv?
A: In the final cut I would say it’s about 80% scripted. People really liked the script but I think we could have cut a Peter Jackson 9-hour improv (laughter). The whole last scene was not scripted. Like the whole “White people pass me on the street and don’t even say hello.” I mean why would you Ever put that in the script (laughter). So yeah, that was made up and all the baby scene stuff.
Q: Who came up with the idea of a New Orleans shoot?

The ‘Argo’ director took a break from his busy schedule to take daughters Violet, 7, and Seraphina, 4 to the farmer’s market — and he even picked up a dozen roses for his wife Jennifer Garner! How sweet!
Just when it seems Ben Affleck can’t get any hotter, he bypasses himself on the sexy dad scale. On Jan. 20, the Golden Globe Best Director took his daughters Violet, 7, and Seraphina, 4, to the local farmer’s market in Brentwood, Calif. — and even picked up a sweet surprise for his wife Jennifer Garner.
While shopping for fruits, veggies and treats — Seraphina nabbed a bag of kettle corn — Ben picked out a dozen beautiful pink roses, presumably for his wife! What a great family man!

Man overboard! Jennifer was the picture of elegance at the 70th annual Golden Globes, until her boobs nearly popped out. Thankfully the stunning actress saved herself by hitching up her Vivienne Westwood dress!
Jennifer Garner narrowly avoided a nip slip at the Golden Globes awards ceremony on Jan. 13, when her amazing red Vivienne Westwood dress developed a mind of its own and nearly exposed her cleavage. Jennifer was almost left looking as red as the red carpet, but she quickly pulled the dress back up in order to stop her own “golden globes” making a bid for freedom. Phew!
Jennifer Garner’s Wardrobe Malfunction
Jennifer and her wily bosom were at the prestigious ceremony to present an award, while her hubby Ben Affleck collected two: Best Director and Best Motion Picture, Drama for Argo. Jennifer beamed proudly the entire her husband was on stage giving his emotional speech, her cleavage securely fastened this time.

Ben may have been snubbed by the Academy, but he & ‘Argo’ owned the Globes!
Ben Affleck got the last laugh Jan. 13 at the 70th Annual Golden Globes, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Not only did he personally win Best Director for Argo, but his movie also won the biggest award of the night: Best Motion Picture, Drama! He also got to go home with Jennifer Garner, but that really goes without saying.
Hopefully there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind now that the Academy really screwed up by not giving Ben an Oscar nomination for directing.

Ben was beaming with excitement as he arrived on stage and received his Golden Globe from Halle Berry.

Robert Richardson Cinematographer Robert Richardson, Oscar winner for his work on Martin Scorsese's Hugo, attends the Oscar 2012 Governors Ball on February 26. (Photo: Darren Decker / © A.M.P.A.S.) Richardson's competitors were The Artist's Guillaume Schiffman, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Jeff Cronenweth, The Tree of Life's Emmanuel Lubezki, and War Horse's Janusz Kaminski. Lubezki was the critics' favorite and the winner of the American Society of Cinematographers Award — which Richardson has never won despite his ten nominations. On the other hand, Richardson has taken home three Academy Awards. Besides Hugo, he won for Scorsese's The Aviator, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and Oliver Stone's JFK, starring Kevin Costner. Below is the Robert Richardson Q&A (courtesy of AMPAS) held in the Oscar 2012 pressroom. Q. You did make a comment on stage about the cinematography award being first. Were you serious? Back in late 2000, my nephew and I had an idea to launch a film/movie review site that appealed to the English speaking Latino-American film audience who are big movie goers.Nowadays the Latino population has proved to be the heaviest movie goers with a per capita viewing of 9.9 films during the year, representing 15% of admissions. So we decided to call it LatinoReview (Lr) and my nephew did his first review of Snatch, which is no longer online but you can see how we started back in January 2001 by clicking Here.At the time I just wanted a site that did movie reviews due to the fact that I used to work on Wall St., and I noticed that just doing reviews wasn't helping, so I asked for help. The first version or Lr was God awful and till this date I still remember calling up Patrick Sauriol from Coming...

Why Harvey Weinstein's parties are the best fun, a producer who's struck gold early on, and the stars come out for the London Critics' bash
What a swell party that was
After the Baftas, there was really only one place to be — the Weinstein/Momentum party that opened the new W Hotel on Leicester Square. I had a nice chat about vintage sunglasses with Mark Ruffalo; discussed favourite works of art with Anton Corbijn and Sally Hawkins; talked at length with Colin Firth (yes, he still wears Tom Ford); was dwarfed between David Gandy and Lily Cole, the two supermodels who reportedly checked into a suite together soon after and became the hotel's first guests — I hope I was some sort of aphrodisiac; I met Tim Burton, who's rather shy in such situations, and Helena Bonham Carter, who isn't; Ronnie Wood was sitting on a couch with a girl...

Michael Douglas received a standing ovation at Sunday night's (January 16) Golden Globe Awards. The "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps" star, who has recently been given the all-clear after treatment for cancer in his throat, was delighted to make his first public appearance since beating the disease to present an award at the Los Angeles ceremony.
"There's gotta be an easier way to get a standing ovation," Michael quipped as the crowd stood to applaud his entrance. "Thank you all very much. I'm really very, very happy to be here tonight. It's nice to be back, it's my first time out this year." He then announced that "The Social Network" had won the Best Drama Picture award.
Earlier in the evening, Michael, who was accompanied to the ceremony by wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, had spoken of his relief at beating cancer. He told E! News, "Tumor's gone, and this type of cancer doesn't usually come back.

Tonight's Golden Globes included exciting wins, funny jokes, and great looks. Ricky Gervais opened the show with a beer and some harsh jokes, but he also did a great job of introducing guests and keeping the show moving along. Early highlights of the evening included Christian Bale's win for The Fighter and a very touching speech by Glee's Chris Colfer. Annette Bening was thankful to her fabulous cast and called her onscreen partner Julianne Moore a "class act." She closed her speech with an adorable shout-out to her husband Warren Beatty, who won the Golden Globe for most promising actor in 1962. Although The Tourist didn't take home any big awards, Johnny Depp got plenty of camera time, which we were thankful for. Also, throughout the night we saw Angelina fixing Brad's bow tie, applying a fresh coat of lipstick, and leaning back into her man's arms. Natalie Portman...

It's still the night of Party Armageddon, and by first light down by the waterfront, Frankie swigs vodka straight from the bottle, like alcoholics do. Tess apologises for telling Ed about her brief liaison with Jay, and Frankie puts her arm around her as they walk home together.
Cat has awakened her DS with morning tea and they talk about the weirdness of the night before and all its happenings. The DS gets a call from her landlady and complains about the hassle of having to look for another place to live.
Cat: Maybe you don't need to.
Sam: What do you mean?
Cat: You could move in with me.
A little awestruck, the DS may be getting the validation that she has been craving. She accepts and looks ridiculously delighted, partly because she's been hinting about this for about three episodes.
