In the opening sequence with the Chan family at dinner, between shots Jimmy Chan's rice bowl changes from partially filled to overflowing.
In the chase scene involving Eddie Collins, the monkey, and the lion, there is a cutaway from one of the ship's officers jumping on a stool to the animals. When the cutback is made to the humans, they are in the same place physically, not having moved from their original positions in spite of being involved in a chase.
When Jimmy Chan (Sen Yung) is chasing after a suspect he accidentally trips over a cart knocking himself out. In the scene it is clearly a stunt double as we can see the stunt man's Caucasian face as he trips and falls.
When the Homicide Bureau phones that they have a murder, the policeman says the boat is located at "Kanea (Kah-ney-ah) Point". There is no "Kanea Point" in Oahu. He may have meant to say "Kaena (kah-ey-nah) Point" at the northern tip of the Island. However, as a non-Hawaiian, he may simply be mispronouncing the name as many non-Hawaiians do.
Jimmy Chan's new calling card reads, in part "...Associated with Charlie Chan, Private Detective...". Charlie is not a private detective, rather a Lieutenant on the Honolulu Police Department.
Charlie refers to the body of water that the ship is in as "the bay." A resident of Honolulu would have called it Pearl Harbor.
When the younger son goes to tell Jimmy Chan about the body, he tells him the name of the freighter, but forgets to pass along the location.
