Evelyn is married to Achim Lauritzen, who works for the Balbecks and attempts to undermine the Guldenburgs. Christine is the principal heroine as she struggles to keep the family from bankruptcy--and from the Balbecks buying them out. Then yet another challenge emerges with the appearance of her dead husband's mistress Carini di Angeli and her child.

- "My father's secret" is the first daily series on ARD, in which the genre crime thriller was combined with that of the telenovela. 27-year-old Jule, who returns from Berlin to her hometown of Wismar because her father has disappeared, is at the center of the plot. Julu follows in the footsteps of her father and, in 49 episodes, uncovers a family secret to which she herself is the key. Markus Stromiedel and Kerstin Engel were the creators of the series, Markus Stromiedel developed and supervised the series as head author in the writers' room. The shooting took place from 3 July to 29 August in Hamburg (studio shooting) and Wisma (outside shooting). "My father's secret" was the first daily series to be broadcast in 16:9 widescreen format.

When Edith' superior Mrs. Hambach (Heidemarie Hatheyer) finds out that she is pregnant, she doesn't want to have the child, because her husband is stepping out on her for so many times. After all Edith finds out that she is pregnant herself and she tells Mrs. Hambach that she can't go on working as a model, although there won't be any income for the Danwitzes anymore. Mrs. Hambach, very desperate, takes the chance and offers Dr. Danwitz and Dr. Hauser a very large amount of money for giving her an illegal abortion. But then something terrible happens.
