John O'Toole was an Emmy-nominated writer, producer, and commentator on television, film, and radio. He was the executive producer of the 1980s PBS series "Modern Maturity", which was about aging. He also wrote a mini-series adaptation for PBS of James Fennimore Cooper's "Leatherstocking Tales" in 1979, as well as the 1971 cult classic "Who Killed Mary Whats'ername", starring Sylvia Miles.
