When putting together the new Netflix series “The Recruit,” creator and showrunner Alexi Hawley said it was “important” for him to show a diverse cast as well as fill his writers room with talent from all backgrounds.
“If I don’t do that then that’s on me,” Hawley told TheWrap during a recent interview.
“The Recruit” marks Hawley’s Netflix debut, but he’s no stranger to television — the twin brother of “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley is also the creator and showrunner of the hit ABC series “The Rookie” and worked as a producer and writer on “Castle.”

When “To All the Boys” premiered on Netflix in the summer of 2018, Noah Centineo became an overnight star.
And as it is with overnight stardom, the offers started rolling in. There were the film’s two sequels, released in 2020 and 2021, TV roles and rom-coms — but recreating the critical and audience success of “To All the Boys” proved difficult. Netflix’s own “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser” paired him with “Stranger Things” fan favorite Shannon Pursuer in a modern-day Cyrano criticized for catfishing, and the 2019 “Charlie’s Angels” reboot — well, this article may have just reminded you it exists. “Black Adam,” in which Centineo had a supporting role, is synonymous with 2022 box office disappointment, and on December 16, Centineo starred in Netflix’s “The Recruit,” an eight-episode series that successfully dulls his charm to dust.

"Don't get cute. Do your business, and get out." Good luck, young one! Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a darkly comedic suspense series titled The Recruit, created by Alexi Hawley, of the "State of Affairs", "Castle", and "The Rookie" series previously. This one is about a young lawyer, not your typical CIA series, considering it's about someone trying to deal with the CIA's (internal) dirty laundry. A fledgling lawyer at the CIA, played by Noah Centineo (from To All the Boys I've Loved Before & Charlie's Angels), becomes enmeshed in dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the nature of her long-term relationship with the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime. The series' cast also includes Laura Haddock, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Vondie Curtis Hall, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Kristian Bruun, Byron Mann, Angel Parker, & Kaylah Zander. It’s a difficult world out there, so once in a while it sure is nice to just sit down with the family to watch a wholesome movie about a wholesome man, his wholesome dog, and their tireless, never-ending hunt for human corpses.
“Rescued By Ruby” has all the feel-good warmth of a G-rated kids flick, with bright and colorful cinematography and a musical score which probably has compositions called “Let’s Hug It Out” or something similar. But it’s the tale of a state trooper named Dan, whose biggest dream is to join the police K-9 division, which involves, once again, more searching for human remains than we’re typically used to in a family flick.
That’s not to say that “Rescued By Ruby” is in any way dire or inappropriate, but whenever the screenplay by Karen Janszen (“Dolphin Tale”) acknowledges the harsher realities of K-9 police...

"I have faith in you, you just need to have faith in yourself." Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for a charming feel good dog movie titled Rescued by Ruby, about a fluffy shelter dog finding its connection with a frigidity state trooper. How adorable. It's actually based on a true story! Made for Netflix, this seems like the kind of stuff that Disney used to drop straight-to-vhs. Chasing his dream to join an elite K-9 unit, a state trooper named Dan partners with a fellow underdog: clever but naughty shelter pup Ruby. As you can see in the trailer, she seems to be a Border Collie - not the usual German Shepherd or Doberman K9 dogs, but that's all good! She seems awesome enough anyway. This stars Grant Gustin, Scott Wolf, Kaylah Zander, Camille Sullivan, Tom McBeath, and Sharon Taylor. Who doesn't like a dog movie?! At least...
