Let's get one thing out of the way:
Invasion Season 1 promised an alien invasion plot for the ages, but it struggled because it didn't balance out the storylines well enough.
It would have had much better reviews if it focused on a smaller group of characters.
Thankfully, it looks like Invasion Season 2 is scaling things back; at least, that's what we're taking from the official trailer for Invasion Season 2.
The highly-anticipated new season premieres August 23 on Apple TV+ and will air weekly through October 25.
The trailer takes us 121 days into the titular invasion, and everyone is struggling to keep it together as the chances of survival continue to diminish.
How can you contend with aliens? The government knew little to nothing about their existence, so trying to fight back when you know little about their weakness doesn't seem like a fair fight.

You know you love Georgina Sparks.
Michelle Trachtenberg is back as iconic villain Georgina in Season 2 of HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” revival series. The new Gg, Kate (Tavi Gevinson), comes face to face with Og baddie Georgina after she sneaks into her apartment for a moment of reckoning. The role marks Trachtenberg’s return to acting after four years, following her voice-acting turn in TV series “Human Kind Of.” Her last on-camera role was in 2016 TV movie “Sister Cities.” Trachtenberg formerly played Georgina a decade ago, with her final “Gossip Girl” appearance in 2012. Looks like Season 2 of HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” reboot is about to get a whole lot messier.
On Wednesday, the series’ social media accounts shared a grainy video of a brunette woman sitting in an empty theater, clapping at whatever (or whomever) is on stage.
“It only takes one spark to start a fire,” the video teases. In the caption, the message continues: “And I have a feeling that this city is about to burn.”

While it’s not totally clear who is in the video, it sure does look like Michelle Trachtenberg — which would mean that Georgina Sparks is returning to New York City. Showrunner Joshua Safran gave another hint about the mystery person’s identity on Twitter when asked who the messiest character in Season 2 will be.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched the first three episodes of “Invasion,” Apple Plus’ new drama that premiered Friday, Oct. 22.
Despite its ominous title, “Invasion” makes a slow burn out of revealing its basic premise. You’d know more about the new drama by reading its logline — “the series follows an alien invasion” — than by watching its first three episodes, which dropped Oct. 22 on Apple TV Plus. Though there’s something — or some thing? — creeps its way around the world by leveling buildings, smashing space stations, and giving kids nosebleeds, “Invasion” keeps its cards close to the chest. Rather than so much as utter the word “alien” in these initial episodes, “Invasion” focuses on the global ripple effects of increasing panic — which might be fine, if it also did a decent job developing its many characters along the way.

Jacob Chase’s horror film about an autistic boy who is pursued by a monster that lives inside his mobile phone is a mixed bag
This uneven American-made horror film revolves around a young, non-verbal autistic boy named Oliver (Marriage Story’s Azhy Robertson) who finds himself pursued by a monster that lives inside his mobile phone – and any other mobile devices with screens to hand. His mother Sarah (Gillian Jacobs) and dad Marty (John Gallagher Jr) are going through a rough patch: their marriage has been clearly frayed in part by the challenges of parenting a child with such acute special needs, who needs to use his phone to communicate and who finds it difficult to look his mum in the eye.
As a portrait of a family coping with a kid on the spectrum, this is very much a mixed bag: credible and well researched in some respects,...

Georgina Sparks is back…sort of. HBO Max's Gossip Girl surprised fans with its latest episode by bringing back a storyline from the Og series. As fans may recall, Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) gives birth to a son named Milo in season four. While she initially tells Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) he's the father, she later reveals that Milo is actually the son of a Russian man named Serge, whom she'd met on a plane. Well, Milo is now 10 years old, and fans are getting to meet him all over again. In the revival's fourth episode, titled "Fire Walks With Z," Milo (Azhy Robertson) sneaks up on Zoya (Whitney Peak) while she's sitting on the steps of New York's...

The Gossip Girl reboot certainly knows how to bring the drama, and episode four just referenced one of the most chaotic characters from the original show's run. When Zoya needs help taking down Julien (believing Julien is out to destroy her life), she turns to 10-year-old Milo Sparks. If that name sounds familiar, that's because Milo's mother is none other than original schemer Georgina Sparks, and it looks like he's learned from the best when it comes to sabotage.
Milo actually plays a pivotal role during season four of the original Gossip Girl. Georgina convinces Dan Humphrey that he's Milo's father, even getting him to sign the birth certificate. Later on, it's revealed that Dan couldn't be Milo's father and his biological dad is a Russian named Serge. The 2021 iteration of the show even gives a clever nod to the drama, with Milo telling Zoya that his real last name is Ivanov.

Thursday’s fourth episode, now available to stream, puts Zoya face to face with none other than Georgina Sparks’ son Milo (played by The Plot Against America‘s Azhy Robertson), who offers to lend a hand after Julien wages a not-so-civil war on her sister’s birthday.

Happy Monday, dear readers! We have one last group of horror and sci-fi home media releases arriving before we say goodbye to January, and I hope your wallets are prepared for just how many killer releases are heading home this weekend, because there’s a lot of great titles that are arriving this Tuesday.
In terms of new genre projects, Synchronic from Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as well as Come Play are both headed to Blu-ray and DVD, and if the release of the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer this weekend got you hyped for some kaiju action, Arrow Video is showing some love to Gamera this week with two different limited edition sets: Gamera: The Heisei Era and Gamera: The Showa Era. Arrow has also put together one of my most anticipated home media releases ever, a brand-new two-disc special edition set for Southland Tales and Vinegar Syndrome is...

He just wants a friend. Last Halloween, Focus Features and Amblin Partners introduced horror fans to Larry, a brand new monster that was birthed in Jacob Chase‘s Come Play, which Meagan Navarro said “applies scare-filled Creepypasta horror to family drama.” Gillian Jacobs and John Gallagher Jr. star as parents who must fight to save their son (Azhy Robertson) from a […]...

Come Play movie review is here. The American horror is a feature movie debut of Jacob Chase. Starring Gillian Jacobs, John Gallagher Jr., Come Play is an Amblin Partners, The Picture Company and Reliance Entertainment production. The movie is releasing in theatres in India on November 27, 2020.
Come Play movie review
Feature movie debut of Jacob Chase explores the scary idea of monsters coming out from screens of your contemporary devices – phone, laptop, ipad, tv, etc.
This idea has been explored before and Come Play is an extension of debutant writer-director Jacob Chase’s short film Larry. The movie is about fears of loneliness and the importance of what we choose as our friends / peers / acquaintance / company.
The idea which is not noble now anymore still remains mind-blowing as it transforms the scares from the traditional mirror to the gadgets we use nowadays in this age of smartphones and slick wheels.

A light flickers, flashes, and then blows out. A young boy, panicked, looks intently around his bedroom, holding the glow of a cell phone screen out to illuminate the darkness in the corners. A low grumbling voice grows into a shrieking scream, footsteps pound with booming tremors, the young boy sits covered with a sheet draped over his head.
This scenario could come from any realm of a horror film but it plays the introduction to writer/director Jacob Chase’s debut feature film Come Play. The scene of a terrified child placed in a frightful situation, sometimes known as the “child in peril” device, has populated film in many different forms. Sometimes it’s fun, like in The Goonies, playful, like in The Monster Squad, and other times downright scary and disturbing, like in The Babadook or It. Come Play falls into the scary category, a film that depends...
