Craig Gambell was born in Margate, 1995 and raised in Norwich, England. Craig started his film career at the age of 17 alongside his A levels at City College Norwich. This started with being one of a handful of young filmmakers part of the regional BFI Film Academy. Whilst working on fictional shorts with other young filmmakers, he also started working freelance, filming corporate events, as well as short documentary/interview based films for CMedia Norwich.
Craig advanced his skills by working with industry professionals at a young age. Craig has been mentored by a variety of freelancers including Jamie Quantrill (director of photography), Sirajuddin Cousins (freelance sound recordist/lecturer at the MET film school), and Luca Torrente (freelance lighting technician).
In 2014, Craig was accepted at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication to study the BA (Hons) Digital Film Production. During his first term, he got a film screened in a west end cinema where it won an award (CMF London Top 50). He has changed his focus primarily to the camera/lighting department, aspiring to become a director of photography in due time.
