“What are you doing a fucking series on David Beckham for?”
It’s a question director Fisher Stevens said he fielded multiple times as he told friends and colleagues he had been courted to make what has become Netflix’s most-watched documentary of the past year. In discussion with IndieWire over Zoom, the multi-talented filmmaker revealed that he, too, was surprised at first to be approached with the idea for “Beckham,” and even a bit resistant to taking it on.

Twenty years ago, Troy and its cast made its mark on epic filmmaking. Director Wolfgang Petersen’s take on Homer’s Iliad featured an ensemble cast led by Brad Pitt and created a wildly entertaining, if not entirely accurate, movie.
Working from a script by future Games of Thrones showrunner David Benioff, the Troy cast brought to life legends like Achilles, Helen of Troy, and Hector. Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, and Diane Kruger were among those who joined Pitt in the impressive cast. While many of the actors haven’t made another film on Troy‘s scale, they continue to perform in blockbuster movies 20 years later.

But the network hasn’t confirmed that Lpbw has ended, and even the show’s stars aren’t sure what’s to come, Matt Roloff revealed in a recent social media update.
Is ‘Little People, Big World’ canceled?
TLC advertised the April 23 episode of Little People, Big World as a season finale, not a series finale. But it definitely felt like the Roloff family was saying goodbye.
In the episode, Matt’s son Zach Roloff and his wife Tori Roloff – who’ve already confirmed they are done with the show – reflected on building their own future with their kids and their complicated relationship with Matt. Meanwhile, Matt and his ex-wife...

The star of TLC’s Welcome to Plathville says that shows like 19 Kids and Counting gave fundamentalist Christian families a powerful platform to share their conservative worldview. There are few greater pleasures, for me, than watching an old film that I have admired all my life resurrected in all its pristine glory. The distributor Eureka Entertainment is a dab hand at such home entertainment miracles and this week releases a Special Edition 4K Ultra-hd Blu-ray of Stanley Kubrick’s anti-war classic Paths of Glory. To be honest, I only watch the film about once a decade at most, but its power never diminishes. After watching it again, in the crispest print I have yet seen, I felt completely numb by the end. And rightly so. The war film has never been the same again since Saving Private Ryan in 1998, but Paths of Glory, made in 1957, summons up neither special effects nor the gore of war, just the abominable power of words and language, semantics used to distort the meaning of heroism and sacrifice.

Credit: Peter Kramer/NBC) It may sound strange now, after he’s been in the role for more than two decades, but Ice-t never intended to be a series regular on Law & Order: Svu. So how did he wind up playing Fin Tutola on Svu for 24 years and counting? Well, he’d built up a relationship with producer Dick Wolf over the years, and when Wolf asked him to take a “small” role on Svu, it was an offer Ice-t literally couldn’t refuse. Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar have 19 children. Of those 19 kids, more than a dozen of them are over 18 years old. They were largely raised in front of reality TV cameras. After the end of 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On, some Duggar kids have opted to go completely underground. Others use social media to earn a living. Out of 19 children, you would think more than just one would be a bit disgruntled. While there may be a few Duggars who weren’t thrilled with their upbringing, for now, only Jill Dillard is willing to speak out. There is a reason for that. Jill Dillard claims that Jim Bob Duggar is buying her sibling’s silence. She says Jim Bob has threatened to disinherit any of his children who dare to speak out against him.

Since 2017, Duggar family followers have theorized that Jill Dillard and her husband, Derick Dillard, were at odds with the rest of the Duggar family. In 2020, Derick Dillard confirmed a family rift. Since then, Jill has been speaking out, and her recent memoir, Counting the Cost, turned out to be the bombshell book family critics had long hoped would be published. In more than 300 pages, Jill recounted several moments where her father, Jim Bob Duggar, steamrolled his children and manipulated them, often for his own financial gain. His desire to control the family’s media empire didn’t stop at his biological children either. In her book, Jill recalled how Jim Bob responded when he saw her husband drinking a beer. Jim Bob Duggar suggested that the Arkansas-based lawyer go to rehab for his alcohol use.

“The Walking Dead’s” first post-series finale spin-off has reached the end of its debut season. “The Walking Dead: Dead City” Season 1 concludes with “Doma Smo” (“we are home” in English), with all of the show’s storylines finally coming to a head in the Big Apple.
At the start, Maggie, Negan, Perlie (Gaius Charles), and Ginny (Mahina Napoleon) all reconvene in a vacant lot, the narratives all converging as one. Last episode, it was revealed that Ginny uncovered that Maggie was lying about the terms of the deal to get Hershel back from the Croat (Željko Ivanek). Negan is frustrated that Ginny has willingly thrown herself into danger by entering New York City, despite Maggie setting her up with shelter at The Bricks.

TLC’s Little People, Big World Season 24 continued to show Amy Roloff and Matt Roloff’s relationship post-divorce. Amy’s now married to Chris Marek, and Matt recently got engaged to Caryn Chandler. “The Walking Dead: Dead City” continues its run with Episode 4, “Everybody Wins a Prize.” Negan, Maggie and the band of survivors they’ve united with are on the attack. Seeking to reclaim Maggie’s son Hershel from the grasp of the evil Croat (Željko Ivanek), the group devises a plan that involves Negan distracting his former Savior while the rest of them swoop in to rescue Hershel. Housed in an abandoned Madison Square Garden, the Croat’s base of operation makes for a stellar “Walking Dead” villain lair.
Using his signature whistle to lure the Croat deep into the depths of his stadium, Negan engages in a cat-and-mouse sequence as the Croat hunts him down throughout the once lively building. The chase results in a stand-off on a catwalk, with the Croat boasting about the new “Sanctuary” he’s created in the wake of Negan forcing him out of the...

Our journey into apocalyptic New York City continues with “The Walking Dead: Dead City” Episode 2, titled “Who’s There?” Continuing right where Episode 1 left off, Maggie and Negan are chasing a strange, long haired woman (Eleanor Reissa) who has swiped their bags. During the pursuit, the duo encounter ziplines that allow for traversal between buildings. A particularly impressive shot shows Maggie desperately nudging herself to the end of the zipline, as she risks getting stuck hanging above the walker-infested streets of Manhattan. After catching the thief, they realize she meant no harm and simply wants to trade.
The entire chase sequence is a bit jarringly paced, and the opening moments of the episode lack the cinematic urgency of a sequence where Maggie and Negan are being robbed. In the end, the long-haired woman leads Maggie and Negan to a survivor community (including Jonathan Higginbotham’s Tommaso and Karina Ortiz’ Amaia) nestled inside a building,...

AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has crawled back out of its shallow grave following the series finale that aired back in November with “The Walking Dead: Dead City.” The first of many spin-offs on the horizon, “Dead City” follows Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they venture into a walker-infested New York City to rescue Maggie and Glenn’s son Hershel who has been kidnapped by a former-Savior.
Set a few years after the flagship series’ strong finale, Maggie and Negan have gone their separate ways since their intensive conversation in the final episode. Maggie continues to float between Hilltop and other adjacent communities. Negan has taken a nomad approach to life, getting into all sorts of trouble around the post-apocalyptic wasteland. After a no-good group of baddies begins demanding resources monthly from one of Maggie’s communities, they take young Hershel as a collateral hostage. Meanwhile,...

AMC continues to mine “The Walking Dead” to death. It has been nearly 13 years since the original series first aired, and yet none of its three spin-offs — soon to be four, plus an additional two in the works — have recaptured the magic of those early Rick Grimes-led seasons. After “The Last of Us” revived the prestige zombie genre with impressive quality and creativity earlier this year, AMC’s insistence on franchising continues to dilute the zombie drama du jour.
The latest spin-off, created and written by “The Walking Dead” producing veteran Eli Jorné, is not likely to convert any new fans. For viewers still slugging through the eighth season of “Fear the Walking Dead,” there are enough horror thrills in the six-episode season of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” to keep you watching and even raise an eyebrow, particularly if you’re already invested in the rich dynamic between...

Little People, Big World star Matt Roloff was just as captivated by the strange saga of Natalia Grace as everyone else.
In late May, Investigation Discovery aired The Curious Case of Natalia Grace. The docuseries explored the story of a 6-year-old Ukrainian orphan with dwarfism who was abandoned by her adoptive parents. Kristine and Michael Barnett claimed their daughter, Natalia Grace, was not a child at all, but rather a 22-year-old “con artist” and “sociopath,” in Michael’s words. Natalia and her advocates insist that she was a child when she was adopted and that the Barnetts lied about her violent behavior.

As the 2023-24 TV season comes to a close to make room for the broadcast networks’ summer slates, the networks sent out their finales with the hope of nabbing big ratings numbers so they can charge equally big advertising rates.
ABC scored the top finale of the season with its “American Idol” finale nabbing a rating of 0.83 while No. 2 went to CBS with “Survivor’s” Season 44 finale scoring a 0.69 rating. The third highest-rated finale went to CBS’ “Ghosts,” which earned a 0.62 rating, while ABC’s “Jeopardy! Masters” finale secured fourth place with a 0.61 rating.

Jared and Michaela are reigniting their relationship and enjoying life away from the detention center as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode 16 opens. With Michaela’s dad resting peacefully upstairs, the couple get to know each other’s naked bodies once again.
The following morning, Jared (J.R. The detention center must be tracking Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), so they can’t even make any phone calls.
Back at the detention center, Ben (Josh Dallas) is convinced everyone’s going to die, and it’s all his fault. He accidentally stopped the 828ers from receiving callings once he injected Angelina with Saanvi’s serum. Vance (Daryl Edwards) insists Ben had no way of knowing the callings would disappear.

In Thursday night’s Jeffrey Donovan-centric episode of “Law & Order,” titled “Appraisal,” his character Frank Cosgrove and partner Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) suspect a gallery owner has been murdered but have no body to prove their case.
In a video clip exclusively shared with TheWrap of the episode, which you can watch at the top of this story, Cosgrove assures the missing woman’s brother that he’ll do everything he can to find her. He also tells the man, “Prepare yourself,” since he believes that the sister is dead, murdered like one of her artist friends who was at the opening night event the night before.
In photos from the episode, Cosgrove reluctantly celebrates his 50th birthday and questions a suspect.
“Appraisal” also features guest stars Nicholas Podany, Kate Jennings Grant, Christina Brucato, Patrick Mulvey Adam Smith Jr., Gina Daniels, Atticus Cain and Brenda Luz Orellana.

“The Walking Dead” takes a bite out of the Big Apple in spinoff series “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” and the brand new full official trailer was debuted by AMC this afternoon.
Watch the official trailer below, which previews the brand new New York City setting while clearly establishing the storyline. Maggie and Negan are forced into an unlikely alliance when a sadistic villain from Negan’s past emerges, kidnapping Maggie’s son. And as they traverse a hellish NYC together, it looks like the duo will be encountering all kinds of new mutant walkers.
Coming from someone who’s been pretty tuned out of all things “The Walking Dead” for a couple years now, “Dead City” looks like the fresh shot of life I’ve been waiting for.
The zombies are taking Manhattan this summer…
AMC has revealed that “Dead City” will premiere on June 18 at 10 pm Et on AMC and AMC+.

Waterston played McCoy on the show from 1994 through 2010 and after an 11-year hiatus, returned on the reboot in February 2022. The anniversary experience was made even more special when his real-life daughter Elisabeth Waterston was cast as D.A. McCoy’s daughter Rebecca, a defense attorney. “That topped everything,” the 82-year-old actor says, as he talks about the politically and personally fraught episode. “She’s a beautiful actress, quick to react, full of intelligence and ready emotion. I have three actor children and there isn’t anything more fun than acting with them.” Peter Kramer/NBC ...
