After the rolling laughs, hoots, hollers, whistling and clapping at tonight’s world premiere of Road House at SXSW on Friday, Amazon MGM Studios may want to think again before putting this Jake Gyllenhaal-Conor McGregor rock ’em sock ’em beefcakes pugilist movie on Prime Video. It doesn’t take an elbow to the head to wake up to the fact that Road House clearly needs to make a destination to cinemas.
The jam-packed Paramount Theatre here in Austin, TX devoured this Doug Liman-directed movie like a dozen beef ribs from Terry Black’s Barbeque. By no means was this last-minute, unexpected trip for Liman a waste of time for the filmmaker.
While the streamer has turned a corner and committed to theatrical, and is largely judicious in making the proper call as to what goes on the service or on the big screen, this non-stop action-in-paradise movie,...

Paramount+’s spy thriller The Department is starting to fill out its ranks.
The drama series, based on the French hit Le Bureau des Legendes, has tapped Joe Wright (Atonement, 2005’s Pride & Prejudice) as director of the first two episodes and Jez and John-Henry Butterworth (Ford v. Ferrari, Edge of Tomorrow) to write all 10 installments. The series, which comes from Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, is aiming for a premiere date later this year on Paramount+ With Showtime.
The Department snagged a straight-to-series order in February 2023 at Showtime (shortly after Paramount Global announced the premium cabler would effectively be folded into Paramount+). At the time, George Clooney was announced as director, but he has ceded those duties to Wright. Clooney and producing partner Grant Heslov remain executive producers of the series, via their Smokehouse Pictures.

Last Feb. 14, actress Valentina Bellè walked the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards for The Good Mothers, the Disney+ series directed by Julian Jarrold and Elisa Amoruso that was nominated for best foreign series after bowing last year in Berlin, where it won the fest’s first Berlinale Series Award. And it is to Berlin that the 31-year-old Bellè will return this year, chosen as the Italian face of European Shooting Stars, an annual award given to up-and-coming talent.
“I am extremely honored,” Bellè says. “I can’t wait to meet my wonderful colleagues from all over Europe, all these incredible talents. And I can’t wait to be in Berlin to exchange ideas and experiences. And to find out where it all started for them.”
Her beginning took place on the stage of her elementary school’s theater. “A confined space in which to abandon the idea of yourself for a while,...

The man with the hat is back ... for one last ride. Harrison Ford is returning to the role of Indiana Jones for a final time with "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." This marks the first "Indy" movie not helmed by Steven Spielberg — instead, the filmmaker handed over duties to James Mangold, a good choice all things considered. This latest adventure drops Indy into the 1960s and sets him on a whole new journey that may or may not involve time travel. At the very least, its going to involve a de-aged Ford, who plays his younger Indy self in flashbacks.
The new "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" trailer dropped during Star Wars Celebration, and you can watch it below.

I was never a "Star Wars" kid growing up. No, instead, the Lucasfilm movies I most gravitated towards were the "Indiana Jones" movies.

Since the release of Michael Mann’s Heat 2 novel last year, the director has stated that he’d love to bring the story to the big screen. Recent rumors have suggested that Adam Driver, Austin Butler, and Al Pacino are involved in Heat 2, and a new rumor from scooper Daniel Richtman claims that Ana de Armas is being eyed to play the female lead.
The character is said to be named Elisa, the Mexican lover of Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and partner in his scheme. Keep in mind that this is just a rumor, and Ana de Armas is not officially involved in Heat 2 at the moment.

Heat 2 takes place one day after the events of the original movie as it follows a wounded Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) desperately trying to escape Los Angeles.
