We often tend to lose things which are extremely important to us. But then, out of nowhere, life give us a second chance to get back what we thought was gone forever. And guess what? There’s someone out there who’s hoping and wishing for our well-being. Even though we are going through difficult times and feeling a lot of pain, there’s a bigger reason for us to keep going. Our life has a purpose, and we are battling through the pain because our journey is about something greater than we could have and ever imagined. Similarly, the movie Sanctified revolves around Weston, an outlaw who once tried to steal from Sister Hildegard, a nun. But when Weston finds himself teetering on the delicate line between life and death, Sister Hildegard saves him because there is a lot more in store for him than just meeting his end in the Badlands.

In Brooklyn 45, World War II has recently ended, and the wounds that it’s left are raw for some of the veterans at the film’s center. Among them is Major Archibald “Archie” Stanton (Jeremy Holm), who’s on trial for war crimes, and Lieutenant Colonel Clive “Hock” Hockstatter (Larry Fessenden), who drinks away the sorrow of his wife’s suicide, committed weeks prior after raving that their neighbors were Nazi spies. It’s the holidays and concern for Hock has brought the comrades in arms together, who are corralled into the drawing room that they will occupy for almost the entirety of the film—and not always of their own free will.
Among the other guests are buttoned-up Major Paul Difranco (Ezra Buzzington) and ace interrogator Marla Sheridan (Anne Ramsay), who brings her husband, Bob (Ron E. Rains), into their friend group. It’s through Bob, who spent the war comfortably behind a desk,...

In 2023, anti-drag laws are being debated in at least 14 states, including Tennessee, the first to officially ban “adult cabaret performances” — which includes male or female impersonations — in public spaces or in the presence of children. But in 1980, drag formed the centerpiece of a new ABC sitcom.
Bosom Buddies is notable for being the first big break for Tom Hanks, then 24, and paired him with relative newcomer Peter Scolari, then 25. They played Kip Wilson and Henry Desmond, respectively — two pals who assume female alter-egos named Buffy and Hildegard in order to live in an affordable women’s hotel in New York City. The show was conceived almost by accident by Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett, the duo behind a raft of 1970s hit sitcoms including Happy Days, Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley.
Buddies was pitched to ABC as a male version of the latter, reminiscent of “a sophisticated Billy Wilder comedy.
