The 59th Academy of Country Music Awards are behind us. The show featured some surprise winners amidst expected victories for artists like Lainey Wilson and Luke Combs. As the first major country awards precursor of the year, some of the winners might strike a chord with Grammy voters.
SEE2024 ACM Awards winners list: Who took home Academy of Country Music Awards?

Over the past week or so, Apple Music has slowly unveiled the titles included in its list of the “100 best albums.” Today, the top 10 albums were revealed, with Miss Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill claiming the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the top five are Michael Jackson’s Thriller; The Beatles’ Abbey Road; Prince’s Purple Rain; and Frank Ocean’s Blonde.
The top 10 also includes Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life; Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe Version); Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black; Nirvana’s Nevermind; and Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
In all honestly, it’s a pretty safe top 10, especially considering the drama that unfolded when Apple unveiled picks 11-20 and slotted Adele’s 21 at No. 15 and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at No. 18 — ahead of albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds,...

When Ally Lewber joined the cast of “Vanderpump Rules” in Season 10 as James Kennedy’s new girlfriend, the chances for drama could not have been any higher. Kennedy had recently ended an engagement with fellow cast member Rachel Leviss, and the history of exes mingling with new partners on the series has historically not gone over well.
However, the 28-year-old has been a refreshingly calm addition. Her love of astrology, cats and music has quickly made her a fan favorite, as has her authenticity and ability to play peacemaker when moments turn emotional or explosive. Maren Morris has been vocal about her sexuality, as well as her support of various LGBTQ+ organizations. The singer was in hot water recently for her decision to take her young son with her to a drag show, sparking outrage among some of her fans. So, what did she have to say?
Maren Morris Has Been An Outspoken Ally
As a public figure, entertainer, and celebrity, Maren Morris has used her platform to support the LGBTQ+ community. Naturally, this has ruffled some feathers, particularly among her fan base. Many listeners are still upset over Maren changing her sound and taking her style in a different direction. However, she is clearly not concerned with pleasing everyone.
There’s also the fact that, for every fan she loses, she gains another, if not more. The one thing about Maren Morris is, she has been through a lot over the years. Fresh from...

Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden said, “Elton John and Bernie Taupin have written some of the most memorable songs of our lives. Their careers stand out for the quality and broad appeal of their music and their influence on their fellow artists. More than 50 years ago, they came from across the pond to win over Americans and audiences worldwide with their beautiful songs and rock anthems. We’re proud to honor Elton and Bernie with the Gershwin Prize for their incredible impact on generations of music lovers.

Among the guests appearances on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter are a few newer names country fans may recognize. Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, and Reyna Roberts pop in to sing with Beyoncé on “Blackbiird,” a reimagining of the Beatles 1968 song “Blackbird” (the “ii” signifies the LP is the second installment in the singer’s three-album project).
Adell is a rising country star who dropped her debut album, Buckle Bunny, last summer. Her inclusion on Cowboy Carter is of note because she seems to have manifested it herself. In February,...

Maren Morris Announces 2024 Tour
In recent years, Marren Morris has stepped away from making country music, which was what first put her on the map. These days, she is taking a Taylor Swift approach to her career, branching out into a more Pop/Edm sound. One recent example is her collaboration with Diplo on the track 42.
The 2024 RSVP Redux Tour will include dates across North America to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Morris’s album, Girl. This is also an attempt to make things right after Morris had to cancel her original 2020 RSVP tour due to the global pandemic.

Tanner Adell fell in love with country music young.
She grew up splitting her time between Los Angeles and Star Valley, Wy, which created a stark contrast - but it was the country lifestyle, and specifically the music, that held her heart. Adell remembers falling in love with Keith Urban when he released "Somebody Like You." And every summer, when she and her mom would set out to drive back to LA from Star Valley, she'd sit in the back of the car and "just silently cry my eyes out as we'd start on this road trip back to California," she remembers.
These days, Adell is a rising country music star. And ever since Beyoncé released "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages" on Super Bowl Sunday and announced her forthcoming country album, the spotlight has been on Black women country artists like her. A lot of that attention has been positive...

Monday kicked off Season 25’s Battles on The Voice, and they did not disappoint. On one hand, we got a few genuinely awesome performances. On the other, we got what might qualify as the first big shocks of the season via the eliminations of one contestant who could easily go by the stage name Mr. Personality and another who — and yes, I’m ready for the hate mail — is a more electrifying rock vocalist than early frontrunner Bryan Olesen. Read on, and we’ll discuss which singers advanced to the Knockouts and whether they really should have.

When a bunch of all-stars get together to record a song for a cause, the result can often be cringey. But “Tennessee Rise,” featuring the pulpit-ready voices of Brittany Howard, Allison Russell, Katie Pruitt, Amanda Shires, Fancy Hagood, Emmylou Harris, and more, hits all the marks.
The heavenly choir anthem was recorded to encourage Tennesseans to register and vote for Gloria Johnson, who is challenging Republican incumbent U.S. senator — and the state’s Darth Vader — Marsha Blackburn in the November election. Johnson is one of the lawmakers known as “The Tennessee Three,...

Allison Russell, Brittany Howard, Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile, Emmylou Harris, Brittney Spencer, Amanda Shires, and many others have formed a collective of country and Americana artists called the Tennessee Freedom Singers in support of Senate candidate Gloria Johnson. Together, they have released a new song called “Tennessee Rise” inspired by movements for social justice and equality. Stream it below.
Recorded at Sound Emporium Studio in Nashville, “Tennessee Rise” was masterminded by Russell after she found inspiration in the actions of Johnson, one of the Tennessee Three who was nearly expelled from the state’s House after participating in a gun control demonstration. Other artists who contributed to the song include Erin Rae, Katie Pruitt, Langhorne Slim, and Tré Burt, but the list goes on.

Keep reading to find out more…While speaking to Rolling Stone, Cassadee attributed the decision in part to the sexism she has experienced in the world of country music and the genre’s lack of widespread progressive politics.

If you’ve attended a mainstream country concert in the past decade, you’re probably familiar with the part of the set where the headliner sprinkles in a non-obvious cover from an adjacent genre like pop, R&b, or classic rock. It’s a move with any number of purposes: to show an artist’s range of influences, to reel in a drifting crowd with a massive hit, to appeal to a wider audience, or to highlight how fluid and arbitrary genre borders really are when you strip a song back to its essentials.

It might be early January, but it’s never too early for some “Cruel Summer.” On Thursday, Teddy Swims visited BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, where he performed a cover of the Taylor Swift Lover favorite.
Swims started the rendition backed only by a piano as he whispered the opening lyrics, before being joined by a drum kit as he hit the high notes in the song’s chorus, and gave a soulful rendition of the song’s iconic bridge.
“Cruel Summer” had a huge 2023, four years after its initial release.
