Today brings terrible news for fictional U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades. The sharpest thorn in his side has finally re-emerged from the shadows, and he's determined to claim what's his. Damian Lewis is returning to "Billions" as the rule-breaking hedge-fund operator who started it all, Bobby "Axe" Axelrod. Showtime has announced that the fan-favorite character will appear in six episodes of the upcoming 12-episode seventh season, with Lewis starring opposite Paul Giamatti as Rhoades, Corey Stoll as Mike Prince, and Maggie Siff as Wendy. Lewis himself broke the news during an appearance on the "Late Show With Stephen Colbert" where he declared, "Bobby's back!"

Axe is back. Showtime announced Tuesday that Damian Lewis will return as hedge fund titan Bobby “Axe” Axelrod for Season 7 of the drama series “Billions.” He will appear in six of the upcoming season’s 12 episodes. The show is in production in New York now.
Lewis left “Billions” at the end of Season 5. At the time, he told the New York Times he had always planned to stay for five seasons, and that he felt it was time to move on for creative reasons. He also needed to spend more time with his family in England after the death of his wife, actress Helen McCrory. More than a year after he announced his exit from Showtime’s financial drama, Damian Lewis’ return to Billions has been confirmed.
The Emmy winner will reprise his role as Bobby “Axe” Axelrod in the upcoming seventh season, Showtime has revealed. He’ll appear in six of the season’s 12 episodes; Season 7 is slated to air later this year. Additionally, Toney Goins, who plays Philip on the series, has been promoted to series regular.
