Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels is being renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned from sources.
The show, which stars Aldis Hodge as Cross, has yet to debut its first season or even set a premiere date. But according to sources, Amazon was impressed enough with what they have seen from the first season to greenlight the second and begin casting. Jeanine Mason has reportedly already been cast in Season 2.
Reps for Amazon declined to comment.
If “Cross” proves to be popular, it would be the latest successful Amazon series based on a long-running novel character. The company found themselves with a massive hit on their hands courtesy of “Reacher” starring Alan Ritchson, based on the Jack Reacher novels written by Lee Child. Likewise, Amazon’s longest-running series to date was the cop drama “Bosch,” based on the Harry Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly.

Amazon Prime Video's "Upload" is a multi-genre series that blends science fiction with comedy, romance, and the supernatural. Set against the background of the afterlife, the show tells the story of a man who dies and is uploaded to a "digital afterlife program." After Nathan's (Robbie Amell) untimely death in a tragic accident, his consciousness is uploaded into an after-death virtual living facility called Lakeview. The romance between Nathan and Nora (Andy Allo), the living customer service angel he interacts with through his hologram form, also makes the crux of the story. The futuristic society functions with complicated, advanced technology at the center and comes from Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels, who is known for his creative work on popular comedies such as "The Office," "Parks and Recreation," and "King Of The Hill."
The show's first two seasons are currently streaming on Prime Video, and "Upload" has been renewed for a third season.

However, it also ended with Max leaving Liz behind (for now) to check on his home planet, with Dallas (Quentin Plair) — just as he and Maria (Heather Hemmens) got together — tagging along. Executive producer Chris Hollier breaks down the finale and teases what would’ve happened next. How would the season have ended if this hadn’t been the last one? Chris Hollier: There was one more scene after this potentially. There was a potential scene where Liz turned around and the console melted, so she was separated and stuck with no way for him ...

A wedding, an engagement and a journey to another planet — fans got all that and more in the series finale of “Roswell, New Mexico” on Monday night. And according to showrunner Chris Hollier, a lot of the night’s events were always the plan for the pod squad — except maybe Malex’s wedding.
Don’t worry, Michael Guerin (Michael Vlamis) and Alex Manes (Tyler Blackburn) were always meant for each other. Even Blackburn told TheWrap he’d have been “pissed” if the men didn’t get the ending they deserved. And indeed, Hollier told TheWrap this week that the “Roswell” writers “always knew there was a happy ending” for the pairing.
“We’d always talked about, like, the fact that we were starting Season 4 with a proposal, we expected people would have a wedding,” Hollier explained. “So how can we surprise them with what that wedding would be? And the answer was,...

Nathan Dean as Max Evans and Jeanine Mason as Liz Ortecho in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 4 episode 13
The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season four episode 13 serves as both the season and series finale. Picking up seconds after the end of episode 12, “How It’s Going to Be“ begins with Clyde easily stopping Isobel and Max’s attack. Rosa (Amber Midthunder) concentrates on tuning in on Clyde’s frequency and manages to free herself from his restraint.
Rosa surprises Clyde by smashing him over the head with a board, which gives Max (Nathan Dean) time to prepare to use the blue flame. Unfortunately, Clyde also uses the flame and knocks everyone over before kidnapping Rosa and escaping in a car.
The #PodSquad discuss their next move and Bonnie suggests they need to destroy the portal before Clyde can use it. Michael (Michael Vlamis) thinks they should hold off on that drastic move and Max agrees.

Malex fans came close to their royal wedding on Monday night’s episode of “Roswell, New Mexico,” but in the end, no nuptials occurred. The good news is, they probably still will! According to series stars Tyler Blackburn and Michael Vlamis, a wedding between Alex and Michael is something they’ve wanted as much as the fans have.
“It was about time. I definitely felt that,” Vlamis told TheWrap of learning about this particular storyline. “I’ve been wanting that for a long time secretly, on and off set with Tyler. And so finally, you know, getting it on the show!”
Jokes aside, both Vlamis and Blackburn were pleased to know that the fans would be getting what they want from the writers, one way or another — even if there were some hiccups along the way. Of course, one of those hurdles is a bit more terrifying than the others,...

Jeanine Mason as Liz Ortecho in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 4 episode 12
The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season four episode 12 is both the season and the series’ penultimate episode. Episode 11 ended with Clyde offering Shivani help bringing back her daughter, and episode 12 reveals she took him up on the offer.
Liz (Jeanine Mason), who’s still struggling with her addiction to the mist, concocts a new version of the mist that will return Max’s powers in just an hour. Max (Nathan Dean) explains he and Isobel discovered Shivani packed up her lab (including the pods) but left behind remnants of a formula on a board. Liz doesn’t recognize it and Max thinks it came from Clyde. Liz believes this mysterious formula might be used to remove Clyde’s brand. Clyde meets with Jones as The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season four episode 11 opens with a flashback to their time on Oasis. Jones offers Clyde a position in his inner circle, convincing Clyde that he’ll share his enormous powers if he accepts.

Flash-forward to the present-day and Rosa (Amber Midthunder) confronts Liz (Jeanine Mason) about her erratic behavior and warns her sister that her addiction to the alien mist is going to end badly. For nearly three years, it seemed unlikely that So You Think You Can Dance would ever return — and once it did, the show arguably wasn’t the same.
The early weeks of Season 17 blew through audition and choreography rounds at a breakneck pace. The performance shows were pre-taped instead of live, and the only voters with any agency in weekly eliminations were those in the studio audience. And, of course, the season’s biggest headline was Matthew Morrison’s abrupt exit as judge, with Leah Remini (?!) stepping in as his replacement.

Any actor’s directorial debut is daunting. But for “Roswell, New Mexico” star Michael Trevino, things were significantly easier thanks to his leading lady, Jeanine Mason, who apparently was “saving” him on the daily.
In Monday night’s episode, directed by Trevino, we meet Outlaw Liz (Mason). She’s a parallel version of the Liz Ortecho we’ve come to know and love, who acts on her darker impulses. Thanks to the chemical compound she inhaled, Liz is trapped in her mindscape, battling for dominance. That mindscape, of course, is an old western town, in which Liz is the sheriff, haunted by Outlaw Liz.
Mason took on double duty for the week and according to Trevino, needed very little direction from him.
“I literally was just behind the monitor, because I know how talented she is,” Trevino recalled to TheWrap. “And then I see her play this completely different character,...

Roswell, New Mexico star Michael Trevino is stepping behind the camera for what he’s calling “the Avengers assembling to come together for one common goal” episode of the series. In August 8’s “Wild Wild West,” it’s up to everyone to save Liz (Jeanine Mason) after Shivani (Rehka Sharma) exposed her to the alien-power mist. As a result, Liz ends up in a mindscape set in the wild, wild west, and it soon becomes not just about saving her, but Max (Nathan Dean) as well. Trevino previews the episode (including Shiri Appleby’s appearance), talks about directing, and teases how it will all end for Kyle and his relationship with Isobel (Lily Cowles). What made this episode the right one for your TV directing debut? You did a short [Two Roads] previously. Michael Trevino: I did. I did a short film after Season 3. I’ve been shadowing all the directors on our series since the pilot,...

Elsewhere in the Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 premiere, Max (Nathan Dean) planned to propose to Liz (Jeanine Mason), only for her to ask him to wait since she felt like the other shoe was about to drop. “Roswell, New Mexico” returns for its final season premiere on Monday night, and it’s bringing an old friend back into the fold — at least temporarily. Max Evans’ old partner and friend Jenna Cameron is back, and she needs his help solving what very well may be a crime committed by aliens.
Of course, this time around, Jenna Cameron (Riley Voelkel) is actually Agent Cameron, having taken a job with the FBI. But to be fair, she’s not the only one with a new title. Max (Nathan Dean Parsons) has one too; he’s currently the sheriff of Roswell (even if only in the interim). Their banter is as strong as ever, as Jenna needles Max by informing him that she only took the job “so I could outrank you, Evans.”

Fans of Roswell, New Mexico, were given some bad news last week.
The sci-fi reboot has been canceled after four seasons.
The good news?
We still have an entire season to watch before the residents of the alien-filled town say goodbye for good.
The CW dropped the official trailer this week, and it teases the coming events in a big way.
While the show isn't getting a pre-planned conclusion, the ending is supposed to be satisfying enough for longtime fans.
“Mark Pedowitz [and] his team at The CW had the class [and] grace to warn the shows that they might not survive, even if The CW wanted them,” executive producer Julie Plec tweeted of Roswell and Legacies over the weekend.
“Because of that, the season finales of both shows were carefully crafted to also work as series finales.”
