The UK’s Documentary Film Council (Dfc) has elected its first national board of representatives, which includes execs such as Storyville lead commissioner Emma Hindley, Doc Society co-director Sandra Whipham and filmmakers Jessi Gutch and Andy Mundy-Castle.
The Dfc was set up last summer just prior to Sheffield DocFest to lobby for the sector and to highlight challenges facing UK documentary.
The Dfc is a co-operative that is owned and run by its membership which comprises 706 people across three tiers. Of these, 264 are voting members.
The election was announced in March and closed on May 31, with 31 candidates putting themselves forward...

Musical drama secures hat-track of nominations including a best actress nod for Jessie Buckley.
Musical drama Wild Rose, featuring a breakout performance from Jessie Buckley, leads the pack at this year’s Bafta Scotland awards with three nominations.
Tom Harper’s film about a troubled young mother from Glasgow who dreams of being a country singer picked up a best actress nod for Screen Star of Tomorrow Buckley, best writer for Nicole Taylor and a nomination for best feature film.
The film took £2.89m at the UK box office when it was released in April, following a strong reaction at its Toronto world premiere.

Sheffield Doc/Fest (June 5-10) has revealed the titles that will pitch for funding at its MeetMarket initiative, celebrating 10 years in 2015.
A total of 64 filmmaker teams from 19 countries will pitch to international and UK decision makers for research, development and production funding
At Crossover Market, which includes digital titles, a further 26 interactive projects from 12 countries will pitch in one-to-one meetings to a range of specialist decision makers.
Among the Crossover projects being pitched are the latest from Oscar Raby who won last year’s Interactive Audience Award with Assent; and Ram Devineni who attracted funding at last year’s Crossover Market and Tribeca New Media Fund for Priya’s Shakti.
New pitch opportunities this year include a BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra Stories commission for young filmmakers, the Guardian...
