Mariano Tufano was born in 1968 in Naples,Italy. After graduating from the School of Art, he worked for 6 years in the main Neapolitan's Opera House: the San Carlo Theatre. Since 1998, when he moved to Rome, he's worked for Italian and international period feature film: Il Piccolo Mondo Antico (2001), The Importance of Being Earnest (2002), The Passion of The Christ (2004), Tristan & Isolde (2006). The Golden Door (2006) became Mariano Tufano's first feature film as Costume Designer, this film, awarded with Silver Lion (2006) in Venice Film Festival, earned him the Davide di Donatello Award as Best Costume Designer (2007). Mariano Tufano latest credits include Costume Design for Italian and international feature film Womb (2009), Salvo (2013) Looking for Oum Kulthum (2017), The Book of Vision (2020) The Hand of God (2021)
with the Accademy Award director's Paolo Sorrentino, has been nominated as Best International Feature film 2022 . His recent work includes Ferzan Ozbetek's tv series The Ignorant Angels (2021).
