Alejandro Lalinde
- Cinematographer
- Camera and Electrical Department
- Producer
Born in San Jose, Costa Rica on January 17, 1977, Alejandro grew up in North
Carolina after moving to the US in 1985. A high school teacher
reinforced his passion for still black and white photography and
introduced him to the works of such photographers as Ansel Adams, Henri
Cartier-Bresson, and Edward Weston. Beginning to see the world now
through a viewfinder, a Canon AE-1 & a 50mm lens allowed him to begin
shooting, developing, and printing his own images. He strived to
photograph the quintessence of the subject before the lens. By the time
of his graduation, he had won several awards for black and white
photography in works embodying the country of Colombia. After
graduating from the Academy of Art - San Francisco with a degree in
cinematography, he began to work in Los Angeles as an assistant, focus
puller, operator, and cinematographer. He has shot several narratives,
documentaries, commercials, and music videos. Alejandro believes in the
narrative form, and revealing the subtleties of the characters and
stories through light, shadow, and the juxtaposition of the subject
within the frame.
