There is no doubt that Star Trek is one of the best-known and most beloved science-fiction franchises of all time. The series has been a pioneering genre work that was both commercially successful and became a cult classic. Despite a few bumps here and there, the franchise as a whole is still alive and well, with several pioneering shows being produced in recent years, but the movie franchise saw its most recent work eight years ago when Star Trek Beyond was released back in 2016. We have recently reported that Paramount is looking into rebooting the movie series and that acclaimed filmmaker Simon Kinberg is currently in talks to lead the reboot as the main producer.
And while it had already been known, even before Kinberg’s potential involvement, that Toby Haynes, who directed episodes of the Star Wars series Andor, was attached to direct the new movie and that Seth Grahame-Smith...

Spider-Man 4 is one of Marvel Studios' most highly anticipated movies but, as we write this, it has no release date or even a confirmed director.
According to Jeff Sneider, Marvel and Sony Pictures are developing a new trilogy together, with the intention being for one director - or a directing duo - to work on all three instalments.
He says it's unclear whether shooting really will begin this fall because Kevin Feige is taking his time choosing a filmmaker and is fully in charge of the creative process. That bodes well for Spider-Man 4 after it was previously reported he might be a little more hands-off due to having so many other commitments in getting the MCU back on the right track.
We've already heard a few different names for the movie, but Sneider makes a point of saying that Feige was particularly impressed with Adil El Arbi and...

Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, Kelly McCormack and Aparna Nancherla will also reprise their roles in the film, which is targeting a spring start-of-production. The cast is rounded out by Elena Sofia Ricci, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega and Lorenzo de Moor.

Jurassic Universe is one of the movie franchises that define the signature Hollywood stylistic footprint. Steven Spielberg started the franchise in 1993 with Jurassic Park starring Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill. With its two re-releases, the movie grossed over $1 billion at the global box office.

Last year, Amazon closed an $8.5 billion acquisition of the film studio MGM, giving them ownership of the studio’s thousands of films and TV shows. Now they need to figure out what to do with all of the properties they own… and in the latest episode of the podcast The Hot Mic, hosted by writer/critic John Rocha and writer/critic/reporter Jeff Sneider, Sneider revealed the six MGM properties that Amazon is most interested in doing something with. These are their top priorities: Stargate, The Thomas Crown Affair, Legally Blonde, Rocky, Poltergeist, and RoboCop.
It’s not surprising to hear that Amazon wants to keep Stargate going, as that franchise already consists of a few films and many seasons of television. Michael B. Jordan has been attached to a new version of The Thomas Crown Affair for a while and Reese Witherspoon is on board to come back for a Legally Blonde 3,...

DC films as we know it has been undergoing a full-scale creative overhaul, as has been reported in recent months. With James Gunn and Peter Safran now running the show at the newly-minted DC Studios, changes are afoot in a big way and that inevitably means that certain plans were pushed aside to make way for their exciting new chapter. We saw that spill out in extremely messy fashion with the underperformance and bizarre behind-the-scenes power struggle of Dwayne Johnson's passion project "Black Adam" and with the almost-completed "Batgirl" ending up shelved completely. Now, we're getting more reports of one fan-favorite storyline that, at one point, could've potentially made it to the big screen.
On his podcast The Hot Mic (via Heroic Hollywood), reporter Jeff Sneider indicated that plans were once in motion for a new take on a "Batman Beyond" movie. Intriguingly, this project wouldn't have been the...

We are now nearly ten years removed from the most recent installment in the Poltergeist franchise, with the Gil Kenan-directed remake released way back in 2015. That film failed to make a splash of any kind, coming along in the wake of two sequels and a 4-season TV series.
So what’s going on with the Poltergeist franchise? Amazon, you may recall, recently acquired MGM, and it looks like Amazon is interested in bringing the horror franchise back to life.
During this week’s episode of The Hot Mic, co-hosted by John Rocha, reliable entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider shared what he has heard about Amazon’s plans for Poltergeist, naming the franchise as one of several MGM properties that Amazon is looking to “prioritize.”
Sneider notes that the Poltergeist situation is “complicated by the fact that Spielberg would likely need to be involved.” Spielberg of course produced the original 1982 horror classic.

Austin Butler has gathered many-a-praise for his turn as the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll, Elvis Presley, in Baz Luhrmann’s rock biopic, Elvis. Now the actor is looking to dip his toes in the waters of superhero movies as it has been rumored that he is actively being considered to be cast in the role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in their planned in-universe reboot of The Fantastic Four.
The Direct has learned that Butler has feigned interest in becoming part of Marvel’s first family. Although, Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, has stated, “no cast [is] currently on board.” So far, the only piece of news that has been confirmed is WandaVision director Matt Shakman is stepping in as director when Spider-Man director, Jon Watts, decided not to take on the project after helming the web-slinger’s trilogy.

Henry Cavill may be leaving Superman and The Witcher behind, but he has a new passion project in the works. It’s been reported that Henry Cavill is attached to star in and executive produce a Warhammer 40,000 series for Amazon.
Amazon Studios is currently in final talks with Games Workshop for the rights to Warhammer 40,000 after months of negotiations. The deal hasn’t yet closed, but Henry Cavill is a known Warhammer 40,000 fan, even occasionally showing off his hand-painted figures on social media. As I know next to nothing about the game, I’m going to turn to Wikipedia for some help. “Warhammer 40,000 is set in the distant future, where a stagnant human civilization is beset by hostile aliens and supernatural creatures,” reads the description. “The models in the game are a mixture of humans, aliens, and supernatural monsters, wielding futuristic weaponry and supernatural powers.” The game’s first edition...

Christina Hodson Was Apparently Working On A Batman Beyond Movie For Michael Keaton, But Not Anymore
It's been a week full of rumors about the future of the DC film universe, and some of them have just been substantiated by The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision newsletter. Among them? News that "Birds of Prey" and "The Flash" screenwriter Christina Hodson was working on a script for a "Batman Beyond" film spun off from "The Flash," which the trade confirms after the scoop was earlier shared on The Hot Mic by Jeff Sneider and by The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez.
Unfortunately, the latest update says Hodson's script is, at the very least, on pause in the wake of James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over what was recently renamed DC Studios as co-CEOs and co-chairs. According to Heat Vision, Hodson had already pitched her script and started writing it before being told to stop about two weeks after the DC overhaul.
While this sounds like bad news...

After rumors started swirling about a new Batman movie starring Michael Keaton getting scrapped by DC Studios, news hounds began sniffing around for answers about the unannounced project. According to The Hot Mic Podcast‘s Jeff Sneider, The Flash writer Christina Hodson was in the process of writing a spinoff revolving around Michael Keaton’s Batman. The spinoff would have served as a reboot, with Keaton playing an older Bruce Wayne mentoring a new Caped Crusader. After digging, The Wrap‘s Umberto Gonzalez said Hodson’s script was for an adaptation of Batman Beyond, a story involving Terry McGinnis as the new Dark Knight under an older Bruce’s tutelage.
We need to learn more to know how deep into the project Hodson was before DC pulled the plug on this curious endeavor. Naturally, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery remain mum on the matter, which neither confirms nor denies...

It sounds like we haven't seen the last of Paul Bettany's Vision after all. Deadline has just confirmed a story (first shared yesterday by Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic Podcast) that a "WandaVision" spinoff series, tentatively titled "Vision Quest," appears to be in the works at Disney+ and Marvel Studios. Just as "WandaVision" gave viewers a front-row-seat to Wanda Maximoff's (Elizabeth Olsen) state of mind during a pivotal time in her life, it sounds like the new series will focus on Vision's quest to find himself and his memories after the events of "WandaVision."
It sounds like the series will likely have ties to White Vision, the version of the character who appeared during the climax of "WandaVision," absorbing Wanda's own Vision's memories during an epic showdown before disappearing. This new version of Vision was created by S.W.O.R.D., using the original Vision body, so...

Paul Bettany has the distinction of being on the ground floor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with Robert Downey Jr. In the original Iron Man and subsequent sequels, Bettany played the voice of Tony Stark’s AI system, Jarvis, before being given an on-screen character of the android, Vision. Bettany continued his run into the Disney+ series, WandaVision, where the character has had a kind of resurrection after his demise in Avengers: Infinity War.
The character that held such an important role in Wanda Maximoff’s life was not shown in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but now ScreenRant (via a scoop from Jeff Sneider’s Hot Mic Podcast) reports that a new series is in development at Disney+ that will continue the adventures of the intelligent android. The studio is reportedly about to open up a writer’s room for a show with the working title Vision Quest.

Kevin Feige knows how to give a spectacular presentation. But one of his most memorable moments was at the end of the 2019 MCU panel at Comic-Con, when Feige interrupted what appeared to be a closing celebration to bring out Mahershala Ali. The Academy-Award-winning actor simply put a hat on his head as the lights dimmed and a one-word logo appeared on-screen: Blade.
Since that moment, anticipation has only grown, from original Blade actor Wesley Snipes offering his support for the project, to the exciting additions of Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre to the cast. Not even a baffling post-credit sequence to Eternals, in which Blade’s voice can be heard warning Dane Whitman against removing the Ebony Blade, could diminish the excitement.
However, some recent news might raise eyebrows, as director Bassam Tariq has stepped away from the project just weeks before filming was to begin. According to the Variety article reporting the move,...

Marvel Studios’ Blade has been hit by behind-the-scenes turbulance as director Bassam Tariq exited the project just weeks before filming is due to begin.
The film stars double Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali as the vampire-hunting superhero Eric Cross Brooks, Aka Blade.
Blade was set to begin filming in Atlanta in November. News of Tariq’s departure was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, who noted that it was “unclear” how the exit would affect the production schedule.
“Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film,” Marvel said in a statement to the outlet.

Matt Damon has always kept his hometown of Boston close to heart, whether in the breakout "Good Will Hunting," taking a role in "The Departed" or developing a movie with Ben Affleck about the city's most famous criminal figure, Whitey Bulger.
