Guy Ritchie is all set to direct and executive produce the Prime Video series, Young Sherlock, after exiting the Sherlock Holmes movies. The new series will be based on Andy Lane’s book series Young Sherlock Homes and will star Hero Fiennes Tiffin. Ritchie earlier shared that he did not take up the directing duty for Sherlock Holmes 3 after Robert Downey Jr. wanted to be in charge of the franchise.

Every time a popular franchise is revived, people tend to wonder if it was ever necessary. In the world of crime dramas, there's no source more popular than Agatha Christie's novels or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. No matter how many times these stories have been told, every producer and director wants to put their own spin on them.
Guy Ritchie tried his hand at Sherlock Holmes in 2009 and 2011, releasing two films, Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, starring Robert Downey Jr. Both movies got decent reviews and a lot of happy viewers, but that wasn't enough. Now Ritchie is back with another project and another Sherlock.
Who Will Be the New Sherlock Holmes?
While the world is still wondering who will be lucky enough to play James Bond, it's not the burning question we should be asking. After the success of Robert Downey Jr.

One thing that makes every TV show unique is the title. It should be catchy enough for viewers to remember and easy enough to roll off the tongue of fans in any conversation. The Big Bang Theory spinoff, Young Sheldon, hit the perfect spot, while also explaining to viewers what the show was about.
One of the newer TV shows in development on Amazon Prime Video, however, didn't weigh in the way that the show's title will be reminiscent of a completely different show. Young Sherlock, which could easily be called Young Sheldon's successor, is very likely to have some viewers confused.

Next year will be 40 years since the premiere of Barry Levinson’s and Chris Columbus’ Young Sherlock Holmes, in which Nicholas Rowe (now 57) portrayed a young version of the famous detective. The screenplay was just based on Doyle’s original characters and was supposed to present the famous detective to a younger audience. And while we were promised a sequel, it never happened and the movie became a part of history, and still a much-beloved children’s film. But, it has been confirmed that we are going to go back to a younger Sherlock Holmes, although in a somewhat different format.
Namely, Amazon Prime has confirmed that an eight-episode series titled Young Sherlock has been ordered, with a tentative release date set for sometime in 2025, although details on the series are still scarce, we do – as you will soon see – have some important updates for you.

While Robert Downey Jr. is known for his portrayal of Iron Man in the MCU, he also portrayed Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of the popular novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The actor reprised his role in the 2011 sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and was also set to appear in a threequel.
Amazon Prime Video announced recently that a series based on Andy Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes novels would be in development with Guy Ritchie directing. It’s time to put on our detective hats again and step into the world of Sherlock Holmes again. Amazon MGM Studios has given the green light for a Young Sherlock series. Ritchie and Tiffin, who most recently collaborated on the film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, will be getting back together. 14 years ago, we were all shocked by the new take on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, it presented the new vision of our favorite detective and modernized the whole story of his exploits.
Just a year before that the world saw Guy Ritchie’s adaptation, set in the 1890s just like the canon, yet offered a more dynamic narration with lots of action sequences. This movie was received not as positively as the series that aired from 2010 to 2017, however, Reddit’s recent discussion concludes that Ritchie’s version holds up significantly better.
It was Redditor @saylorthrift who started this debate, and their hot takes surprisingly gained large support. Overall, it is stated that the 2009 movie has aged better than Moffat and Gatiss’ show because of its cast, setting, atmosphere, as well as screenplay.

Deadline reports that Hero Fiennes Tiffin of the After film series has signed on to star in the Young Sherlock series that has been ordered by Prime Video – and to clear up any possible confusion before it can arise: no, this is not a series reboot or continuation of the 1985 film Young Sherlock Holmes, which came to us from director Barry Levinson, screenwriter Chris Columbus, and producer Steven Spielberg. Rather, this is an adaptation of the Young Sherlock series of novels that author Andrew Lane started writing in 2010. That series was a response to the success Charlie Higson was having with his series of Young James Bond novels. Guy Ritchie is on board to direct and executive produce all eight episodes of Young Sherlock‘s first season. Ritchie, of course, has prior Sherlock Holmes experience, having directed Robert Downey Jr. as the iconic character in the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes and...

Amazon Prime Video has ordered a series based on Andy Lane’s “Young Sherlock Holmes” novels with Hero Fiennes Tiffin set for the lead role, Variety has learned.
Guy Ritchie is attached to direct and executive produce the eight-episode series. It will be a reunion for Ritchie and Tiffin, who recently worked together on the feature “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.” It is also the latest Sherlock Holmes project for Ritchie, as he previously directed two films about the famous detective starring Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes, Jude Law as Dr. Watson, and Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler.
“In ‘Young Sherlock’ we’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before,” said Ritchie. “We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love.

British actor Henry Cavill has arrayed a wide range of roles in his screen career, but to the average moviegoer, he is probably best known as the most recent Superman in the four DC Comics films under the tutelage of Zack Synder. Despite his obvious physical strengths, Cavill’s performances in the dual roles of Clark Kent and the “Man of Steel” are considered by many to be more character-based than in other editions that reflects his priorities as an actor.
In fact, Cavill has taken on a number of other iconic characters in his career, from Sherlock Holmes in two “Enola Holmes” films, superspy Napoleon Solo in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and even the mythological Theseus in “Immortals.” And while he usually portrays heroes, he’s not afraid of being a bad guy now and then, most notably as Tom Cruise’s nemesis in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.”

There have been multiple instances in Hollywood’s filmmaking industry where actors and directors didn’t quite see eye to eye and the situations ended up in behind-the-scenes fiascos. Well, it seems like Robert Downey Jr. had been in one of those situations, considering how he was reportedly so fed up with his film’s director that he started protesting in his own hilariously genius ways.

And, surprisingly enough, the director he reportedly had beef with was the legendary director behind masterpieces like Fight Club: David Fincher.

On May 23, the final episode of the first season of Elsbeth, a spin-off of The Good Wife about a lawyer who leaves her native Chicago for a solo adventure, was released. Elsbeth has a brilliant mind that allows her to look at things from an entirely different angle, and she clearly doesn't want to waste that on just being a lawyer. So she comes to New York at the invitation of the local mayor's office to help the police.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man receives less fan love than these superheroes in the MCU. When fans were asked to poll on the best superhero trilogy in the MCU, most of them chose Chris Evans’ Captain America trilogy and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. While the first Iron Man film remains one of the best films in the 30 billion-dollar franchise, Downey Jr.’s third film had unfavorable opinions, which made it many people’s third favorite trilogy.

It’s definitely time for Benedict Cumberbatch fans to celebrate as the actor’s two very similar shows are coming to Netflix at almost the same time later in May. The streaming will first release the 2018 drama miniseries Patrick Melrose which will be followed by Cumberbatch’s brand new show Eric.
Apart from the fact that the actor stars in both shows, the series have much more in common than they initially seem to.
Back in 2018, Patrick Melrose got to be Cumberbatch’s first big dramatical role since the actor rose to international prominence due to his breakout role in the BBC crime drama show Sherlock.
Based on Edward St Aubyn’s semi-biographical novels, Patrick Melrose follows an eponymous aristocrat whose wealthy family’s facade hides his big childhood trauma caused by Patrick’s abusive father, which later leads to Patrick’s severe substance abuse and struggles in adulthood.

Amateur sleuth shows used to be popular in the pre-csi era of television.
These series showcased detectives who were not police officers, were often quirky, and could best the cops at solving murders -- if they could get them to listen.
You're right if you think that sounds exactly like CBS' Elsbeth. Elsbeth has more in common with amateur sleuth series of the past than with the show it spun off from, The Good Wife.
Elsbeth is a modern take on classic shows like Columbo, Murder She Wrote, and Diagnosis Murder. Most shows it owes a debt to are no longer on television, but streaming services have given them new life.

This post contains spoilers for "Dune."
In Frank Herbert's "Dune," Mentat Thufir Hawat, the Master of Assassins for House Atreides, trains heir-to-the-throne Paul Atreides in the ways of military strategy and political maneuvering. Exceedingly gifted and cunning, Thufir emerges as an asset for the Atreides, especially during their takeover of Arrakis, the coveted Spice-rich desert planet that the people of Caladan knew very little about. The show originally ran for 177 episodes across 8 seasons, from November 16, 2004, to May 21, 2012. The five-time Primetime Emmy Awards winner redefined medical dramas in more ways than one. House was loosely based on Sherlock Holmes, with Dr. Gregory House often considered the Sherlock Holmes of medicine. The series centered on a team of investigative doctors led by the misanthropic, pain-killers-addicted, medical genius Dr. House as they try to correctly diagnose illnesses and provide cures. Ahead of the release of The Strangers: Chapter 1, we chat to director Renny Harlin about reimagining one of the most beloved modern horror films.
When The Strangers, Bryan Bertino’s low-budget horror film, was released in 2008, it immediately burrowed itself under my skin. In the film, a couple, played by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, are stalked by masked assailants, who seemingly have no motive for tormenting the couple. The film was a massive hit and has earned itself a firm, deserved cult status.
16 years after the release of Bertino’s film, Finnish director Renny Harlin is attempting the impossible. He has taken the basic premise of The Strangers, kept the name and turned it into an ambitious trilogy of his own.
The film follows Maya (played by Madelaine Petsch) and Ryan (played by Froy Gutierrez) on a road trip across the country. They pull over to a remote town for some food,...

Eminem was known for oddball, controversial stunts during his early career, but he’s taken things to another level with an obituary for his character Slim Shady. The obituary gives fans a lot of insight into how the “Without Me” rapper views his Slim Shady persona. It also might have a clue as to how Slim Shady will evolve in the future.
Eminem’s obituary for Slim Shady is a refresher for some
One of Eminem’s most provocative stunts in some time is naming his upcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). Killing off a famous character is sure to turn heads, whether it was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killing off Sherlock Holmes or the famous DC Comics arc “The Death of Superman.”
In keeping with that tradition, the Detroit Free Press published a faux obituary for Slim Shady which explained the character for those who...

Get ready, folks, because the man with the fists the size of Thanksgiving turkeys is going to return ... slightly later than we hoped. According to star Alan Ritchson, "Reacher" season 3 won't premiere on Prime Video until 2025
The news comes from Ritchson's Instagram stories, where he shared an image with just the words "The biggest name in action hits again in 2025" followed by the title of the show.
"Reacher," of course, is based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child, and follows a former Army military policeman who is also the biggest and strongest man on the planet; a large man who also happens to be smart as hell; a wanderer who travels from town to town solving crimes and beating the crap out of people. As /Film's own Valerie Ettenhofer wrote in her review of season 2, this self-aware action show "has all the ra-ra spirit and obsession with...

Characters are more often associated with their iconographies, which provide them with an enduring legacy through the ages. When readers think of Sherlock Holmes, the pipe and the iconic hat immediately come to mind; the bat insignia is a cue to Gotham’s caped crusader; and similarly, the mention of Godzilla always evokes the mental image of the atomic monster unleashing its fierce, nuclear-powered breath—akin to the fire-breathing dragons of ancient mythology.
Atomic Breath has been an integral part of the big G’s identity since the character’s first appearance and has been showcased in almost all of Toho Studio’s 30+ cinematic ventures involving Godzilla. Irrespective of the tone and treatment of the movie, whether it’s the campy fun of the Showa era or the grounded, dark approach of the present Reiwa era, makers have always made sure that each version of Godzilla asserts their individuality through their respective atomic breath.

A deserted road in the middle of the endless expanse of the American outback. Two opponents in hats face each other. Each is ready at a moment's notice to pull the trigger and send the enemy to the next world. Scenes like these take us back to a time when sheriffs and marshals were little different from criminals.
It's hard to imagine something like this in the 21st century, but Justified manages to tell the classic story of the Wild West in modern Kentucky in the most realistic and effective way possible. The premiere took place in 2010 and the finale was shown in 2015, but the series still deserves attention nine years after it ended.
Justified is not put on the same level as recognized masterpieces like The Sopranos or Breaking Bad, although at its best, this grandiose neo-western is no inferior to even the most popular TV series in history.

Los Angeles’ iconic seaside diner Patrick’s Roadhouse at the edge of Pacific Palisades may have slung its last hash brown.
Amid a long-term lease negotiation, and after the financial battering of the pandemic, the half-century-old restaurant just off Pacific Coast Highway, known for its bright green exterior and kitsch décor, is attempting to raise $250,000 for back rent and building improvements as it holds discussions with potential new business partners about the possibility of a return.
While off the radar of industry cognoscenti in recent years, it had long been an unpretentious lure for A-listers like Johnny Carson, Sean Penn and Lucille Ball as well as execs including Jeffrey Katzenberg and onetime Paramount Pictures president Ned Tanen. Its most important Hollywood connection, though, may be its namesake: the seasoned character actor Patrick Fischler, son of the original owner Bill Fischler, who has since died.

Its most important Hollywood connection, though, may be its namesake: the seasoned character actor Patrick Fischler, son of the original owner Bill Fischler, who has since died.

Guy Ritchie’s two-and-a-half-decade career as a filmmaker has been a bit of a mixed bag, and that’s being generous.

Whether you like it or not, Sherlock Holmes is the man “who never lived and will never die.” Ever since being created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887, the iconic detective has been ever-present in popular culture: for 137 years, Sherlock Holmes has been investigating mind-boggling cases, uncovering conspiracies, and catching criminals. And he’s not stopping any time soon, we’ll tell you that much!
Sherlock Holmes Will Be Back on Pages
94 years after Conan Doyle’s death, the author’s descendants recently gave their blessing to writer Gareth Rubin (The Turnglass & The Winter Agent). Rubin will write a new book series about Sherlock Holmes, but this time, it won’t be just the iconic detective under the spotlight: titled Holmes and Moriarty, the new books will give his archnemesis just as much attention and time.
It won’t be the first time that a new author shakes the dust...

It has been more than 15 years since Guy Ritchie released his Sherlock Holmes offering with Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role. A lot has changed in the film industry since then, with the 59-year-old becoming a mega star thanks to his pivotal involvement in the MCU.
Now that Downey Jr. has hung up his Iron Man suit, he is interested in making a third offering in the Sherlock Holmes film series. This is reportedly in the pipeline, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. It has been announced that there will be at least one spinoff series, though, which could be set to reinvigorate the franchise.
Detective Remains at Forefront of Popular Culture
There are rumours that there will be two spinoff series, which are due to be released on HBO Max. This could be a clever move from the streaming service, as the Sherlock Holmes brand is massive in popular culture.

After renewing 11 scripted shows for 2024-25, CBS has made its first cancellations of the spring.
The network says second-year dramedy So Help Me Todd and drama CSI: Vegas, which is in its third season, won’t return. The two shows were among just a handful of CBS scripted series whose futures were up in the air as of Friday.
CSI: Vegas is averaging about 6.4 million viewers per episode in Nielsen’s seven-day linear ratings, and So Help Me Todd draws about 6.3 million. They’re likely to be the two most watched shows to get the ax this season (not including the pre-announced end for Young Sheldon), but the bar is a bit higher at CBS — which has 12 of the top 15 scripted series since mid-February, when broadcasters rolled out their post-strike lineups — than elsewhere.
The network also has three new dramas on deck for the 2024-25 season in NCIS: Origins, which...
