Jennifer Nettles, lead vocalist of the country duo Sugarland and a successful solo artist, got into acting by playing Dolly Parton’s mother in the 2015 TV movie Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors. Since then she has appeared in the sequel to that movie, Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, performed in Chicago and Waitress on Broadway, had roles in the film Harriet and the TV series Underground, and appeared on multiple episodes of the HBO show The Righteous Gemstones… which happens to be executive produced by David Gordon Green, so that paved the way for her to have a role in Green’s most recent film, The Exorcist: Believer. Now Deadline reports that Nettles is following her Exorcist role by being cast in another genre project: the horror action series The Bondsman!

I often lambast the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the "same old, same old" feeling of its movies and television — so I feel a little hypocritical calling the revival series "Daredevil: Born Again" my most anticipated Marvel project.
"Daredevil" ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2015-2018, but was canceled afterward. Like its sister shows, it was a casualty of Marvel and Netflix decoupling from their creative partnership. However, since it was the most consistently acclaimed of the Marvel/Netflix shows and the title character has the biggest built-in audience, "Daredevil" will be born again on Disney+.
As for why I'm excited? "Daredevil" was counterprogramming to the quippy fluff of the MCU movies, with a darker tone and more violence. Plus, what can I say, I'm a fan of the character. If you aren't familiar, Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer blessed with enhanced senses to compensate. At night, he patrols...

Exclusive: Chris McCumber is departing Blumhouse Television after three years as President. The unit’s President of Production, Jeremy Gold, will step into the top role on an interim basis. A search is underway for a new head of the TV group, which is getting downsized, with several people — believed to be fewer than 10 — being laid off today. The staff reductions are coming mostly from the TV division’s Creative and Business Affairs departments, sources said. The unscripted group, led by Gretchen Palek, will remain intact, as will Blumhouse’s shared services groups including Production, Casting, Hr, Marketing and Finance.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for the series finale of Carnival Row.

The wait is finally over. Carnival Row, starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, is back.
Carnival Row Season 2 Episode 1 premiered alongside the second hour, and the drama attempted to reach the heights of the first season's epic finale.
But did it succeed?
Sadly, it only partially succeeded, as the characters being separated made for a disjointed premiere.
Whether due to the three-year gap, or just tired storytelling, Carnival Row lost some of its urgency but kept most of its intimacy.
Some significant losses on the fae side did occur, but none mainly made us feel too much emotion, at least until the end of Carnival Row Season 2 Episode 2.
But more on that later. The premiere hours' highlights match the first season's highlights: incredible world-building, character development, and performances.
Bloom and Delevingne gave 110 to their roles, and it seemed they didn't have a lengthy break. Their chemistry still faltered, but it's gotten better.

Carnival Row is back for a second and final season, and TV Fanatic got to sit down with some of the stars and showrunner to discuss what's on tap.
The show premiered in 2019 but suffered many setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic that halted productions worldwide.
Carnival Row Season 2 picks up with former inspector Philostrate (Blooom) investigating a series of gruesome murders stoking social tensions, while Vignette (Delevingne) and the Black Ravens plot payback for the unjust oppression of the Burgue's human leader.
First up, showrunner Erik Oleson talks about the trouble associated with the pandemic when filming Season 2 of Carnival Row.
He also expressed his love for the fans for waiting as long as they did.
Amazon Prime gave the showrunner an extra two episodes to rework the story to make season two the final season.
We also discuss what he's looking forward to with the second and last season.

Plot: With humans and fae folk divided and freedom on the line, each hero will face impossible dilemmas and soul-defining tests in the epic conclusion of Carnival Row.
Review: When Carnival Row premiered almost four years ago, I gave it a solid review based on the episodes I had seen. With quality production values and vivid mythology, I found the steampunk-inspired story to be intriguing. Most critics were not so kind, and, despite a quick second season renewal, the delays brought about by the pandemic also meant the sophomore season would be it’s last. While the final season of Carnival Row is two episodes longer than the first, the gap in between has allowed this season to broaden its scope and deliver a fairly epic conclusion to the story of the fictional country known as The Burgue and the war between humans and the supernatural beings that reside in the titular slum.

Prime Video unveiled the official trailer for the second and final season of “Carnival Row” today, foreshadowing the bloodshed to come as a result of a continuous power struggle between humans and mythical creatures.
The 10-episode season sees ex-inspector Rycroft Philostrate (Orlando Bloom) continue to make headway in a serial murder investigation as his former lover Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne) plots revenge against humanity with a group of faes called the Black Raven.
“If they shoot at us, nail our heads against the wall, they will pay for it in their own blood,” Delevingne says threateningly in the trailer.
The three-time Emmy-nominated series also features Jamie Harris, Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, David Gyasi, Andrew Gower, Karla Crome, Arty Froushan, Sinead Phelps and more. “Carnival Row” is produced through Amazon Studios and Legendary Television, with showrunner Erik Oleson at the helm.

A couple months ago, it was announced that the second season of Carnival Row will be reaching the Amazon Prime streaming service on February 17th – three and a half years after the August 2019 premiere of the first season. Now a trailer for Carnival Row season 2 can be seen in the embed above.
The second season of Carnival Row will also be the show’s last. Which makes sense, given the long gap between seasons, but is also a bit disappointing given how much troubled the project was from the beginning. This concept started out with spec script called A Killing on Carnival Row, which Travis Beacham wrote in 2005. At one time, Guillermo del Toro was going to direct the Carnival Row feature film. Beacham then developed the idea into a series with Rene Echevarria… and there have been some behind-the-scenes shake-ups along the way. Echevarria was the first showrunner, but...

Prime Video has set a 2023 premiere date for the second – and final – 10-episode season of Carnival Row. The premiere date announcement was accompanied by a super short teaser trailer that gives nothing away.
Honestly, it’s been so long since season one aired that I assumed we’d never get a season two. I was wrong. The first eight-episode season premiered on August 30, 2019, and season two will debut on February 17, 2023.
Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne reprise their roles as Rycroft Philostrate (a.k.a. Philo) and Vignette Stonemoss, respectively. The season two cast also includes Arty Froushan as Jonah Breakspear, Caroline Ford as Sophie Longerbane, Karla Crome as Tourmaline, and Andrew Gower as Ezra. Tamzin Merchant plays Imogen Spurnrose and David Gyasi stars as Agreus Astrayon.

“Carnival Row,” the Prime Video series starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, will conclude after two seasons on the streamer. The second season of the fantasy show premieres on February 17, Amazon announced Monday.
The series first premiered in August 2019 and focuses on the titular city of Carnival Row, where mythological beings exist as oppressed refugees in a human-dominated social order. Bloom stars as Rycroft Philostrate, a detective in the city and a half-fae, who begins investigating a conspiracy involving a group of fae known as the Black Raven — one of whom is his former lover Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne). Season 2 picks up where the first left off, with Rycroft off the force but still investigating a series of murders, while the Black Raven escalates their plans to protest oppression in the city.

The first season of Carnival Row was released through the Amazon Prime streaming service way back in August of 2019, so it would make sense if you thought the show was already cancelled years ago. But a second season of the show was ordered before the first season had even premiered, and it’s finally going to be released on February 17th. Not surprisingly, given the long delay between seasons, Amazon has confirmed that Carnival Row season 2 is going to be the end of the show.
Starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, Carnival Row is set
in a Victorian fantasy world of mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. Bloom plays human detective, Rycroft Philostrate, while Delevingne stars as a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss. In Season 1, they rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society and Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo...

It's been a long, long wait since season 1 of "Carnival Row" debuted on Prime Video to generally positive reactions (/Film's Vanessa Armstrong reviewed the first season here). Fans have anxiously waited since August of 2019 to find out what happens next in the dystopian fantasy series that doesn't seem that much more heightened than our own world. With the recent news that season 2 will bring the series to a grand conclusion, Prime Video subsequently dropped a brief but evocative new teaser for the next installment of the show.
Focusing on issues of immigration, oppression, power grabs, an ongoing murder-mystery, and even a will-they/won't they romance at the heart of it all, "Carnival Row" quickly made itself feel wholly relevant to our own turbulent political times ... though with the added distinction of exploring these topics through characters who happen to be mythical, wing-sprouting "fae," goblins, fauns, and other mythological creatures.

Carnival Row, the fantasy drama series starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne that last aired in August 2019, will end with its previously announced second season on the Prime Video platform.
The series will return for its final 10 episodes on Feb. 17, 2023. Episodes of the drama, a co-production between Legendary TV and Amazon Studios, will debut weekly.
Erik Oleson (Daredevil, The Man in the High Castle) serves as showrunner on season two after he took over for Marc Guggenheim (Arrow) and Travis Beacham, on whose feature script the series was based.
Sources say the series was creatively overhauled for season two, which along with delays from the pandemic contributed to the three-plus years between seasons of the series. All told, Oleson serves as the third showrunner on Carnival Row, which Beacham co-created alongside Rene Echevarria, who was the show’s original showrunner.

Exclusive: We’ll be seeing more of Sergeant Dombey in the upcoming second season of Amazon’s fantasy drama series Carnival Row. Jamie Harris, who recurred as the character in Season 1, has been promoted to series regular for Season 2 of the series from Legendary Television and Amazon Studios.

G.I. Joe has been enduring a period of relative mainstream dormancy since the release of 2013 movie G.I. Joe: Retaliation. However, Hasbro’s popular toy property—specifically, the Cobra-combating “A Real American Hero” iteration launched in the early 1980s—has serious comeback plans that have just expanded, thanks to a live action television series set for Amazon focused on Lady Jaye.
While the pandemic derailed the intended 2020 release of reboot prequel Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, which is scheduled to hit theaters this October, that film now stands to be complemented by the untitled Lady Jaye live-action series, which Deadline reports that Paramount Television Studios, eOne and Skydance Television are developing for streamer Amazon Prime Video. While details are lacking regarding the plot, the project is being described as a standalone story that connects to the larger G.I. Joe Universe. Indeed, Lady Jaye is clearly part of a major multimedia endeavor for Hasbro,...

It’s been over two years since Daredevil was cancelled at Netflix, but fans have never stopped pushing for Charlie Cox’s portrayal of the Man Without Fear to be revived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or a potential Disney+ series, and when Netflix’s exclusive rights to Daredevil expired last November, a new rumor began to circulate that Marvel was about to give those who had invested in three seasons of the nixed superhero series a chance to see Matt Murdock again in the multiverse-heavy MCU installment, Spider-Man 3.
Well, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has been chatting with various sites as part of his promotional duties for the studio’s upcoming MCU spinoff series WandaVision this week, and he’s been asked directly if there is any truth to the rumor that we might see Cox’s Daredevil back in action soon.
