Fox’s Batman prequel series, Gotham, has been renewed for a fourth season, TVLine is reporting. The popular show is set in Gotham City and shows what life there was like before the Batman, when Bruce Wayne was still an awkward teenager.
The move by Fox doesn’t come as shocking news as even though the show has experienced a drop in ratings this season, (down 15-20% from Season 2) it has always done well since its debut in 2014.
The show has brought captivating performances in the portrayal of some iconic Batman villains, namely The Penguin, and The Riddler, both played brilliantly by Robin Lord Taylor and Corey Michael Smith respectively.
Oswald Cobblepot, better know as The Penguin, has risen to the top of Gotham City after starting out as a meek errand boy for one of Gotham City’s most prevalent crime bosses, Fish Mooney.

The Riddler’s origins are explored well in Gotham season 2's Mad Grey Dawn. But is Jim Gordon in danger of becoming a baddie as well?
This review contains spoilers.
2.15: Mad Grey Dawn
Holy getting-your-just-deserts, Batman! After weeks of trying to pretend that he didn’t murder Theo Galavan, Ben McKenzie’s Jim Gordon has ended up in prison. I don’t really see how the writers can bring Jim back to likable protagonist territory after this. He’s a killer, and now everyone knows he is, which can’t just be swept away. Whatever loophole Bullock finds to get his partner out, I’m sceptical about how effective it’ll be.
All the Daredevil V Punisher morality arguments I’ve been watching of late must be having an affect on me, because the whole ‘Jim is a murderer’ thing bothered me much more in this...

Lori Petty makes a wonderful guest appearance in this week’s dialogue-heavy delight from Gotham season 2…
This review contains spoilers
2.14 This Ball Of Mud And Meanness
Holy cupcake fight club, Batman! This week’s Gotham episode was quite possibly its best episode yet, due to the fact that it finally addressed the ‘who killed the Waynes?’ mystery head on. After two years of waiting, David Mazouz has finally got to portray Bruce Wayne with a real human dilemma – what to do now that he’s found the killer.
This Ball Of Mud And Meanness' centrepiece was the dialogue-focused showdown between Bruce and Matches Malone (impressive guest star Michael Bowen). In this scene, Mazouz delivered a nuanced and troubled performance which should serve to banish any lingering doubts that he isn’t perfect for the role of young Bruce Wayne.
This scene pried right into the character, asking...

What piqued my interest in Fox’s Gotham, a prequel series telling the origin story of Commissioner Gordon, was it’s promise to shed a little light on some of Batman’s most famous villains and the past lives they lived before taking on their alter egos. Villains like The Joker, The Penguin and The Riddler were among the first to be announced as members of the cast. They may not all be major players, but their stories will be told. Today we have an actor taking on one of my absolute favorite Batman villains, only one peg below The Joker: The Riddler
Whether or not you’re as big a fan of The Riddler as I am, you have to acknowledge his love of puzzles makes him much more interesting a bad guy to go up against. Every villain has a special set of skills and the actors playing...

With the roles of Jim Gordon, Bruce Wayne, and Selina Kyle already cast, Fox has now added Broadway actor Cory Michael Smith to the cast of Batman prequel “Gotham” as Edward Nygma. This latest Batman spin-off is set in a Gotham where Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is still a tween, so Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will be taking the lead. Smith’s Edward Nygma is a socially awkward forensic scientist who later becomes The Riddler, a DC Comics villain that was most famously played by Jim Carrey in 1995′s “Batman Forever.” Also already cast are Camren Bicondova as a teenage Selina [...]
