Kevin Grevioux, who created the “Underworld” franchise, and wrote and directed “King of Killers,” will direct action-adventure film “Shurika.”
The film will go into production later this year and rights are being pre-sold by Reiko Bradley’s Eclipse Intl. at the European Film Market, which accompanies the Berlin Film Festival.
The film is adapted by Grevioux from a graphic novel published by his Darkstorm Comics & Media company, about a biracial Black Japanese woman. She had been hidden from her Yakuza grandfather by her mother after he had her African American husband killed because of their taboo relationship. Years later, while trying to find her birth mother, the woman finds herself caught in a conflict between the ninja clan who raised her and the Japanese underworld.

Creative marketing agency Bond has promoted more than 20 team members in 2022, while also adding more than 60 people to the team in the past 12 months.
Among those promoted recently are Darnell Brisco, EVP and Head of Growth, a role in which Brisco will identify new ways to build on the best of Bond, while creating new opportunities that are unique to Bond’s fully-integrated operations; Ben Andron, EVP and Head of A/V, for which he will continue to helm Bond’s trailer division; Kathleen Philips, Patricio Hoter, Ali Comperchio, Brent Rockswold and Chris Lamons, all elevated to Creative Directors of A/V; and Peter Soldinger, who has been tapped as VP and Head of Creative Strategy.

Five Nsw-based filmmaking teams will be supported to make high impact micro-films after being selected for Go Viral!, a Screenworks initiative delivered in partnership with Create Nsw and Co-Curious.
The initiative aims support emerging filmmakers to create micro-films that will “disrupt the online space with truly motivating content that connects effectively with its target audiences”. Screenworks will support the selected regional filmmakers for the Go Viral! project and Western Sydney based organisation Co-Curious will support the selected Sydney-based filmmakers.
