Tributes poured in Monday after it was revealed that Paul Reubens, the actor who made Pee-wee Herman famous, died after a private battle with cancer. He was 70.
Reubens turned Pee-wee into a one-man franchise, from the influential kids TV show Pee-Wee’s Playhouse through three feature films — 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, 1998’s Big Top Pee-wee and the 2016 Netflix pic Pee-wee’s Big Holiday — and even a Broadway play.
He also appeared on everything from Mystery Men (as Spleen) to Murphy Brown, and stole scenes in the likes of Batman Returns and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
“Paul Reubens was like no one else – a brilliant and original comedian who made kids and their parents laugh at the same time,” Jimmy Kimmel wrote today. “He never forgot a birthday and shared his genuine delight for silliness with everyone he met. My family and I will miss him.”
Said Danny DeVito: “Really loved working with him.

Three months after "The Wonder Years" alum Fred Savage was fired from ABC's reboot series for misconduct, new allegations from women on the show's crew have surfaced.
On Aug. 9, The Hollywood Reporter published accounts of six women alleging assault and harassment from Savage, all of whom sent a complaint to Disney and spoke to an Hr executive about his conduct towards women on "The Wonder Years" reboot set. "To their credit, I was contacted within hours," one of the women told the outlet. "An investigation started immediately and he was barred from set."
Following news of Savage being fired from the show, Page Six reported that the director had "overwhelming support" from friends and colleagues who worked on "The Wonder Years" reboot - which prompted the group of women to come forward and speak to The Hollywood Reporter. The recent round of reboots hasn’t set the world on fire when it comes to winning accolades. But that changed with ABC’s “The Wonder Years,” which premiered last September. A big reason is it’s a complete reimagining. Instead of being a coming-of-age memory comedy about a young boy growing up in the late 1960s in a middle-class White family, the new version revolves around a Black family living in that pivotal decade in Montgomery, Alabama as seen through the eyes of a 12-year-old.
The reboot has already followed in the original’s footsteps earning a prestigious Peabody Award in June for “its willful depiction of Black Joy.” The initial version picked up the award in 1989 for “pushing boundaries of the sitcom format and using new modes of storytelling.” So will Emmys be far behind for freshman series starring Elisha “Ej” Williams as 12-year-old Dean Williams and Dull...

Another creative has been fired for inappropriate behavior.
According to Deadline, Disney is cutting ties with Fred Savage after multiple complaints about his behavior on the set of The Wonder Years, where he's a producer.
The Wonder Years is an ABC reboot of the series that began in 1988 in which Savage was the star.
Of course, we may never know what "inappropriate conduct" is, and we'd prefer to know the extent of it before laying blame anywhere.
Here's what a spokesman said to Deadline in a statement:

Fred Savage, star of the original “Wonder Years,” has been fired as executive producer and director of the ABC reboot following an investigation into charges of inappropriate behavior, a spokesman for 20th Television confirmed to TheWrap on Friday.
“Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched. Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of ‘The Wonder Years,'” the rep said in a statement.
While no specifics about the allegations were released, Deadline reports that Savage’s misconduct on “The Wonders Years” set included “verbal outbursts and inappropriate behavior.”
Savage was previously accused of sexual harassment in 2018 by a woman in the costume department on the Fox series “The Grinder.” At the time, he dismissed the charges as “completely without merit and absolutely untrue.” The lawsuit was settled out of court.

Lee Daniels’ upcoming reboot of “The Wonder Years” has found its new Kevin Arnold… er, Dean.
The ABC pilot cast Elisha “Ej” Williams to play Dean, the 12-year-old boy that serves as the center of the show, much the same way Fred Savage’s Kevin Arnold did in the original “Wonder Years.”
Here’s how ABC describes the character: “”Dean is an inquisitive and hopeful 12-year-old kid coming of age in a turbulent time. It’s 1968 in Montgomery, Alabama — and Dean is trying to figure out his place within his Black family and the world at large. Though a little insecure, a tad awkward and a bit self-conscious, he is determined to make his mark on the world around him.”

Even after all these years, we still get by with a little help from our friends.
According to Deadline, ABC has committed to a pilot for a reboot of the classic ‘80s television drama/comedy The Wonder Years. The project will be developed by Dave executive producer Saladin K. Ferguson, Empire co-creator Lee Daniels, and original Wonder Years star Fred Savage.
Like the original series, this new iteration of The Wonder Years will take place in the socially and politically turbulent 1960s. But instead of following the white middle class Arnold family, the reboot will center on a Black middle class family from Montgomery, Alabama. The series will be written by Ferguson, who will draw from his experiences growing up in Montgomery. Savage will direct the pilot. ABC has handed a pilot production commitment to The Wonder Years, a new iteration of the network’s 1980s family comedy-drama. It comes from Dave executive producer Saladin K. Patterson, Empire co-creator Lee Daniels, the original series’ breakout star Fred Savage and 20th Century Fox TV.
Written by Patterson inspired by his experiences growing up in Montgomery, Al, the new incarnation of Wonder Years chronicles how a middle-class Black family in Montgomery in the turbulent late-1960s — the same era as the original series — made sure it was the Wonder Years for them too.
The approach is reminiscent of the successful current reimagining of the classic family sitcom One Day at a Time with a Latinx family.

“Rescue 911” could be returning to the airwaves.
Variety has learned exclusively that a reboot of the classic series is currently in the works. Original series host William Shatner would return to host the new series, with the veteran actor joining a panel made up of actual fire fighters, EMTs, and police personnel discussing the emergency calls in real time.

Ready to feel old? It’s been 25 years since “The Wonder Years,” starring a young Fred Savage, went off the air. (The finale aired on May 12, 1993.) TheWrap takes a look back on the beloved coming-of-age series set in the 1960s and ’70s to dig up some facts you might not have known.
Fred Savage is one of the youngest actors to be nominated for an Emmy Award, when he was 13 years old in 1989 for his role as Kevin Arnold. Keshia Knight Pulliam is the youngest to be nominated at 6 years old for her role on “The Cosby Show” as Rudy Huxtable, and Savage is tied with “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown, who was nominated at 13 in 2016.
Executive producer Bob Brush said that although “The Wonder Years” team was the first to show The Beatles’ Ed Sullivan appearance on TV, the episode didn’t turn out quite as expected. “We didn’t really use the Beatles footage very well, and that episode was kind of mediocre when it came out. I had a call one day that Jon Feltheimer [the head of New World Entertainment] was on his way down to the studio, and he walked into my office and said, “I want my money back,” he told The Rolling Stone in 2014.
The first kiss between Kevin (Savage) and Winnie (Danica McKellar) was also the young actors’ real-life first kiss. McKellar told The Rolling Stone that she and Savage had a mutual crush, and “the anticipation of that kiss nearly killed us both.”
Brush has also said that even though everyone was sad to see the show end, he “knew it was time.”
“From my point of view, I think we had a year more than we actually deserved,” he said. “‘The Wonder Years’ was really about a specific time in life when you’re still young enough to believe in things like magic and the truth and all of those things. One of the jokes was that Fred’s voice was getting lower than Danny Stern’s voice. So from my point of view, the story was well told, and it was time to put a button in it.”
McKellar has said that the writers would eavesdrop on her and Savage to get ideas for dialogue between Winnie and Kevin.
“Kevin and Winnie’s relationship was, in some ways, defined by my friendship with Fred and some of the things that we would say,” she said. “The writers would actually take lines from things that we were saying to each other, off camera, and put it into the script.”
“There was this whole episode dedicated to, ‘Do you like him, or do you like him, like him?’ That was an expression that he and I used when we were talking about some guy that I had a crush on, in real life,” she added. “And then, it showed up in a script, a few weeks later. There were a lot of blurred lines. The other interesting thing was that I broke up with my first boyfriend, in real life, about a week before we shot the episode where I had to break up with Kevin on the show. It was fascinating how many parallels there were.”
Danica McKellar auditioned against her sister, Crystal, for the role of Winnie Cooper. Though Danica got the part, the producers liked Crystal so much they brought her one for a guest role as Becky Slater, who Kevin dated to make Winnie jealous.
The series was inspired by “A Christmas Story” — at least in part– from the coming-of-age theme to the use of voice-over, which was unheard of at the time. Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie in “A Christmas Story,” had a guest spot as one of Kevin’s roommates on the final episode.
Daniel Stern talked to his real-life son in the last episode. In the show’s closing moments, Daniel Stern, who served as the voice-over narrator of the older Kevin, is asked by his “son” if he wants to play catch. That kid was Stern’s real-life son Henry.
Kevin and Winnie’s breakup was caused by McKellar’s growth spurt. Kevin and Winnie’s relationship was the heart of the show, but McKellar’s growth spurt in between the third and fourth season caused the writers to break the two up, at least until Fred Savage could catch up in height.
Jason Hervey, who played older brother Wayne, said his character was inspired by his own real-life older brother. “My brother Scott was the real Wayne Arnold. There were so many things that I borrowed from our real life experiences,” he told Uproxx in 2014. In fact, the storyline where Wayne is forced to take Kevin to the mall with him, was a real-life experience for Hervey.
Alley Mills stated in a 2018 interview that the show was cancelled as a result of a groundless sexual harassment suit filed against Fred Savage and Jason Hervey by a member of the crew. Both the show and Savage denied the accusations, and the lawsuit was dropped after an undisclosed out-of-court settlement was reached.

YoungJoo Hwang, a costume designer on the set of the 2015 Fox comedy “The Grinder,” has accused Fred Savage of harassment and being demeaning towards female crew members. Hwang appeared at a news conference March 21 with her her attorney, Anahita Sedaghatfar, to discuss the lawsuit she filed against Savage for harassment and discrimination.
Savage denied the accusations, calling them “completely without merit and absolutely untrue.” 20th Century Fox TV investigated the allegations and, according to the studio, they were “unfounded.”
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Hwang says Savage constantly “gave her dirty looks, rolled his eyes and hurled profanities at her” while making “The Grinder.” Savage allegedly told the woman he hated her and not to look at him. Hwang alleges Savage tormented female crew members on set and demanded they not follow him around.

For those of you who have ever wondered why the classic series The Wonder Years was canceled, actress Ally Mills, who played Norma Arnold in the series, said it due to a sexual harassment scandal involving 16-year-old Fred Savage, which she says was "completely ridiculous."
This is the first time anything like this has been talked about regarding the show. While talking to Yahoo, Mills explained:
“When we shot the series finale … nobody knew whether or not The Wonder Years was going to be renewed. And that’s because of a completely ridiculous sexual harassment suit that was going on against Fred Savage — who is, like, the least offensive, most wonderful, sweet human being that ever walked the face of the Earth.”
The sexual harassment lawsuit was filed in 1993 by a 31-year-old costume designer named Monique Long. It wasn't just against Fred Savage, though. It was also filed against 20-year-old Jason Hervey,...

Nearly three decades after The Wonder Years first made its TV debut, actress Alley Mills is claiming that a "ridiculous" sexual harassment lawsuit is what brought the beloved ABC show to a sudden halt in 1993.
Mills, who played wholesome matriarch Norma Arnold in the Sixties-set teen drama, told Yahoo! Entertainment that a lawsuit brought about by her costumer, Monique Long, against her TV sons Fred Savage and Jason Hervey, ultimately led to the show's cancellation after six seasons.

Twenty-five years later, “The Wonder Years’” cancellation still raises questions. The final episode was filmed in such a way that allowed it to serve as either a series or season finale, depending on the voiceover narration that was added to the closing scene; exactly how and why ABC chose to end things has remained a point of contention among viewers. Now Alley Mills, who played matriarch Norma Arnold on the family drama, says the show was canceled due to a “completely ridiculous” sexual-harassment lawsuit filed against stars Fred Savage and Jason Hervey.

This is either going to be really good or so bad, it’s great. But either way, ABC’s relaunch of Battle of the Network Stars (premiering Thursday, June 29 at 9/8c) is looking like the summer’s must-see — especially since on Tuesday the full list of competitors was released. The celebrities we’re most psyched to see throwing down in events like the kayak relay race and dunk tank:

Among fan favorites for Super Bowl 2017 commercials was the 30 second spot from Netflix hit Stranger Things. Right from the beginning we’re drawn in because of a 1980’s Eggo waffle commercial featuring Jason Hervey. The ad quickly dissolves followed by Stranger Things “stuff.” We see the graphic “The World is Turning” but don’t know much else. We know that the kids are wearing Ghostbusters costumes for Halloween, so that’s kind of awesome. But let’s talk about Jason Hervey. We all know him as Kevin Arnold’s snotty brother Wayne from The Wonder Years. But let us never forget that Hervey

"The Wonder Years" star Jason Hervey just learned the hard way ... never take Ambien before you get behind the wheel. Tennessee law enforcement tells TMZ ... they got a call about a swerving pickup truck and were able to locate it. Cops say Hervey was behind the wheel and totally out of it ... slurring, red-eyed and confused. Cops say Hervey miserably failed a field sobriety test. They searched the pickup and found a loaded handgun, but the actor had a permit.

Created by Neal Marlens and Carol Black, The Wonder Years tells the story of Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) as he faces the trials and tribulations of youth while growing up during the 1960s. Told through narration from the perspective of an adult Kevin (Daniel Stern), the character recounts his adolescent years in suburbia as a mishmash of major world events and personal childhood traumas. When the series began, it was set in the historically significant year of 1968. Using the backdrop of a transitional time in America’s history, the coming-of-age tale brings emotion and context to moments that would shape a nation. Yet, it’s surprisingly the smaller moments that chart the rocky terrain of childhood that we remember most. Snapshots of adolescence, from baseball games and holiday dinners to school dances and a first kiss, and all the moments in between, are what makes The Wonder Years so timelessly appealing.

Cast: Fred Savage, Josh Saviano, Danica McKellar, Dan Lauria, Alley Mills, Daniel Stern, Jason Hervey
Due Out: October 7, 2014
Who’S It For? “The Wonder Years” is timeless. Thankfully it doesn’t feel dated simply because I was a child of the ’80s trying to understand life in the late ’60s. “The Wonder Years” was my gateway drug to a nostalgia I didn’t even know. Like many of you, I grew up with Kevin. I hoped for Winnie, I had friends like Paul (and probably was Paul more than I realized).
I can’t wait to show “The Wonder Years” to my son. I’ll have to wait, because he hasn’t even turned two yet, but now I have six episodes to show him, and hopefully that will just be the beginning.

Fred Savage
After all of the years of waiting, The Wonder Years is finally coming to DVD! I loved this series. It was one of my favorite shows growing up. Last year the series popped up on Netflix, but this is a series that fans would love to own on DVD, and it's supposed to be released later this year.
The original cast of the series has come back together to promote the DVD, and a few photos and a selfie of the reunion have popped up online thanks to Fred Savage, Josh Saviano, Danica McKellar, and Jason Hervey. You can check those out below!
It looks like this might be part of a documentary that’ll be included on the DVD set that will focus on the history and filming of the show.

This Throwback Thursday is full of good news for children of the 1980s and 1990s: The Wonder Years is coming to DVD. And to promote that release, the cast recently reunited — a mere 21 years after the show finished singing out of tune. Let’s just say that after 21 years, the gang has really stepped up their selfie game.

Well isn't this "Wonder"-ful.It's been over 25 years since "The Wonder Years" first debuted on TV back in 1988 -- and yesterday, the entire Arnold family (and some very special guests) got together again for one very amazing reunion.Fred Savage, Danica McKellar, Jason Hervey, Josh Saviano, Olivia d'Abo, Dan Lauria and Alley Mills all got together inside a recreation of the Arnold's kitchen to film the special features on an upcoming DVD set for the classic series. All the stars shared a ton of photos from filming, including an epic group selfie and some amazing side-by-sides with posters of their late-'80s selves. While the series is currently available on Netflix, most of the original music (including the memorable theme song) were changed because of rights issues. The new DVD set will reportedly be released with most of the songs intact. So far, no word on when it will...
