The image of their big, block-lettered logo across the front of your (and every one of your friends') fleece hoodie is permanently ingrained in your mind. Well, the retailer is back—not like they ever left—with a cool, new commercial featuring the offspring of the celebs who starred in their 1990 ad campaigns. Model Lizzy Jagger (daughter of Jerry Hall), artist Coco Gordon (daughter of Kim Gordon), actor Evan Ross (son of Diana Ross), DJ Tj Mizell (son of Jam Master Jay),...

If you jumped on the ’90s revival train in a big way last year (we’re looking at you, Kendall Jenner, the champion of bringing back every single long lost trend), the decade is continuing to have a major moment in 2017. Gap is keeping the throwback trend going with its new curated collection. The brand is bringing back 15 iconic ’90s styles from the archives, and they’re revisiting the brand’s iconic ads to go with them, fronted by (very appropriately) the most iconic supermodel of the ’90s, Naomi Campbell, who posed for the brand in 1992 wearing the pocket tee...

"Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig is set to produce the film adaptation of Mickey Rapkin's recent Elle magazine article "Supermodel Snowpocalypse" for Paramount Pictures.
The true story tale is set in 1977 and follows a group of models including Jerry Hall and Maria Hanson, ad executives, and two aspiring model sisters.
The group traveled to Chile for a lavish fur-themed photoshoot., only for a snowstorm to hit and trap them at a mountain ski resort. The gang soon turned the place into their own drug-fueled Studio 54 with the other Brazilian and Argentinian patrons.
Stranded for a week with no working phones and the only access out of the building through a second-storey window, the American crew hatched a plan to escape back home.
Jessie Henderson will also produce the project which Feig will not direct.

Tim Burton's Batman was released 25 years ago. Ryan looks back at how it overcame a media backlash to become a defining 80s blockbuster...

There may have been a point, in late 1988, where Tim Burton began to wonder whether he'd bitten off more than he could chew.
Sure, the 30-year-old director had made feature films before - namely Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Beetlejuice - but those films were relatively low-budget. Small-scale. Made outside the glare of public and Hollywood studio scrutiny.
Batman, on the other hand, was being put together with a blinding media spotlight trained on it. Warner Bros had set aside somewhere around $30m to adapt DC Comics' beloved Caped Crusader for the silver screen, and both journalists and fans were following every step of its production with keen interest.
Most worryingly, as production on Batman got underway in October 1988, a vocal proportion of those fans were decidedly unhappy.

London, Sep 19: Grace Jones, who once vowed she'd never write a memoir, has changed her mind and is all set to tell her life story.
The 65-year-old singer has signed an agreement with Gallery Books to write a book scheduled to come out next year, the BBC reported.
The Jamaican-born model, actress and singer revealed that decided to pen down the memoire because if she didn't do it, someone else would do.
According to Gallery Books, the stories the singer planned to share include rooming with Jerry Hall during her model days, collaborating with Andy Warhol and acting with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan the Barbarian.
The memoire is also believed to have stories from her time filming James Bond film A View.

On her beauty regime:
“I like to keep things simple, but I always take off my makeup before bed. I use Eve Lom Cleanser at night and just cold water in the morning. It helps to tighten pores and also gives your cheeks that pink, fresh glow. Finally, I moisturize day and night and exfoliate. I love Tracie Martyn’s Enzyme Exfoliant.”

The first annual Women and Fashion Film Fest, was founded by Jeanine Jeo-Hi Kim, and brings together the fashion and film industries in order to educate, inspire and examine pressing issues. The mission statement, as per Ms. Kim, “Our Film Fest will spotlight talent, create a forum of women’s issues, as well as, support the creative development of women and students. We will distinguish ourselves through content, compelling panels, and the participation of industry leaders.”
Day 1 was incredible.
In the documentary, Girl Model, the viewer follows Nadya Vall, a young, country girl living in Novokuznetsk, Siberia as she pursues a modeling contract with a Japanese agency that will allow her to travel to Tokyo and earn $8,000 Usd. When she and her colleague arrive unchaperoned, they face language barriers, uncertainty of paid work, weight issues and homesickness.
As many turn to what appears to be the fun, glamorous, financially lucrative, “living the dream,” creative world of fashion, in order to escape from tough economic conditions, the harsh reality still remains that careers in the industry are difficult to break into, are usually begun when girls are just that, ‘girls’ and are still emotionally and physically immature. Also, it usually takes a major investment of your own money to get comp cards and a portfolio together, and can ultimately lead to many dangerous outcomes, such as, eating disorders, drug addiction, kidnappings, sexual harassment, and prostitution.
Luckily, documentaries and discussions can shed light on these human rights issues.
Some of the opinions and statements from the first day of screenings and panel discussions from fashion veterans:
“The Industry remains “The Wild West” and needs laws on the books to help sort through these disconcerting issues. Through legislation and collective conversation, change can occur.”
“Change starts at home through education, preparation and parenting.”
“The industry needs regulation.”
“It is society’s fault. Why do these models have to start at such a young age?”
“The industry needs to be unionized.”
“It is a human rights issue.”
“We are all accountable for our behavior.”
“The careers should be started at 18 years old, the legal working age.”
“Don’t take a job, unless you know how much you are going to make.”
This was a fast response to the problem at hand. As per an article on June 12, 2013,
In the short film, “Blank Canvas,” a woman who has lost all of her hair due to an advanced stage of cancer, demonstrates how she handles the social stigma attached to being bald by having creative Henna designs drawn on to her scalp.
Meanwhile, the short film, “34′′ x 25′′ x 36′′,” philosophized, ”Do we worship the perfect woman?” “Do people have to believe in something?” “What is our salvation as a society?” “Is ‘Barney’s’ the church for today? (insinuating that more people flock to the stores, than to church).
HBO documentary, About Face: Supermodels, Then and Now by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, starts off with the “Velvet Underground” and “Nico” song, “Mirror; I’ll be your mirror, reflect what you are.”
and gets up close and personal with the Supermodels from back in the day; Carmen Dell’Orefice, Isabella Rossellini, Christie Brinkley, Christy Turlington, Jerry Hall, Carol Alt, Paulina Porizkova, Pat Cleveland, Beverly Johnson, Eileen Ford, and Brooke Shields.
Main points from the film: “It is a woman’s business.” “It’s about character and beauty.” ”Modelling allowed me to not have to rely on my father or husband for money.” “It offered me a way to express myself in a way that can not be expressed in words.” “It was an attitude.” “It was living in a bubble.” “I was told to act like I was the most beautiful thing.” “I watched a lot of friends get lost in the wave and pass away from drugs or disease.” “We were clothes hangers.” “Misogyny.” “Confidence.” “Innocent.” “Naivety.” “Discrimination. Color barriers.” “Glad I didn’t die in the process.” “Why shouldn’t we be allowed to age?” Woman are everything; mothers, wives, and business women.” “When I looked like that, I should have walked around naked all the time.” “Modeling: demonstrates insecurity. I’m more beautiful now that I am not a model.” “We all have to go sometime, I want to go with my high heels on.”
Topics discussed in the panel: “Diversity,” “Retouching Photos,” “Strong sense of self” “Strides in diversity,” “Beauty the way you are.” “The more women writers that enter the industry, the better.” “Media should promote healthy eating and living.” “Be true to yourself.” “Aging. Celebrate women as they advance.” “Be Humble.” “Be honest with yourself.” “Spontaneous.” “Fearlessness,” and a “Sense of Humor.”
And wrapping up Day 1: Ralph Rucci: A Designer and his House, by David Boatman displays the hard work involved in creating and displaying a collection.

Before we jump into the parent-approved Rock Power of Top 7 week, a word about the group performances that I omit in my recaps: They are just so terrible. Thank God we have a fluorescent-haired watchdog like Nicki Minaj to look Kree Harrison and Janelle Arthur in their buttermilk-sweet eyes and howl, "Cheesy, please Stop It." Ultimately, the group performances don't really factor into the home vote, so it's safer to evaluate each remaining singer based on what they achieve in solo performances. Because what they usually achieve is "being better than Lazaro," which I consider the unofficial theme every single week.
Anyway, here we go, #7-1. I give these kids credit for belting out old rock anthems, because the playlist looks like a gym teacher's iPod. Ride that power chord, little Lazaro!
7. Lazaro Arbos, "We Are the Champions"
Lazaro clearly wants my vote, because 1) he wasn't awful this week, and 2) he was sweaty.
