Don’t feed the Gremlin after midnight, don’t let it come into contact with water… and show caution when casting it on “The Masked Singer.” In a series first, “The Masked Singer” didn’t unmask a celebrity on Wednesday night — the celebrity did the unmasking themselves.
Mickey Rourke was the second performer to leave “The Masked Singer” in Season 4, having performed as the Gremlin. The furry, hot costume may have contributed to the premature exit, as Rourke decided to lift his mask after performing. (Scroll down to watch the self-unmasking.)
“Dammit, it’s hot, I’m taking it off,” he said, much to the surprise of the show’s panelists and host Nick Cannon.
“We’ve lost control, it’s the Gremlin show!” Cannon said, calling for help. But then it was too late. “This is a ‘Masked Singer’ first,” Cannon said. “We didn’t get to vote, the...

Former wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista and comedian Kumail Nanjiani make for an unlikely pair in the new Uber-themed action movie, Stuber. In the latest episode of Rolling Stone‘s the first time, the co-stars say they met for the first time at a chemistry test for the film, but quickly hit it off and by the end of shooting they were the undisputed Stuber ping-pong champions. Bautista also jokes, “Now we finish each other’s…” prompting Nanjiani to deadpan, “Sandwiches.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Bautista talks about competing in dance...

Malcolm John Rebennack Jr., who died Thursday at age 77, was a onetime Catholic schoolboy who remade himself into a bona fide high priest of funk — and a lifelong ambassador of gritty, glittery New Orleans groove.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Dr. John — the name and characterization he adopted in 1968 with the release of the landmark Gris Gris album, based in part on stories of a 19th-century voodoo priest — earned 15 Grammy nominations and six wins during a career that spanned more than 50 years. He beat drug addiction,...

Today the estimable Shout Factory releases the 1983 Jim McBride film "Breathless" on Blu Ray. It stars Richard Gere and Valerie Kaprisky in a loose-limbed lovers-on-the-run story, features a pretty groovy soundtrack comprising Jerry Lee Lewis, Mink De Ville and Sam Cooke songs along with a rather insistently overused Philip Glass track, and you can even catch a glimpse of Richard Gere's peen if that's your thing. But none of that is the reason that "Breathless" is the curio that it is —it's because the film has the sheer gall to be a Hollywood remake of the groundbreaking 1960 Nouvelle Vague film by Jean-Luc Godard that we talk about it at all. Of course, remakes are mounted all the time. But a relatively unknown director (as McBride was) taking on the work of a monolithically accepted "auteur" is a little more unusual. And sometimes the reverse occurs, when a widely acclaimed...

Eagle Rock Entertainment will release a music legacy this May 24, 2011. The 17 track cd “Come A Little Bit Closer… The Best Of Willy DeVille Live”, is a compilation of his European tours from 1977-2005. The ballsy, bluesy American singer songwriter was influenced by many of the greats, who helped redefine his raspy guitar twang. Such artist as John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and the Drifters to name but a few. However, it was John Henry Hammond II who has had the most affect on DeVille’s persona. This CD is a tribute to a true music historian who has affected the lives of many. Willy Deville was born 1950...

An old friend and fellow musician informed me that one of our f Mink DeVille’s founder and creative kingpin Willy DeVille passed away from pancreatic cancer on Aug. 6. He was 58. With a flourish of Spanish strings and clattering castanets, his band was often more reminiscent of West Side Story than the New York City punk band moniker it received during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Over three decades, DeVille’s distinctive voice and R&B sound evolved and refashioned with influences ranging from The Drifters to Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed while being delivered with an aristocracy accentuated by a villainous pencil-thin moustache. Receiving more acclaim in Europe than in the U.S., the band scored a minor hit with 1977’s “Spanish Stroll” from their debut album Cabretta. In 1987, DeVille’s “Story Book Love” from The Princess Bride earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.

New York - Rock singer Willy DeVille, known for his bitter sweet ballads, has died at the age of 58 from cancer, his family said Friday. DeVille passed away in a New York hospital after a bout with pancreatic cancer, his wife, Nina, told the German Press Agency dpa. 'It was very peaceful,' she said. 'I was by his side.' DeVille's family revealed in June that he had been diagnosed with the disease. He was being treated for hepatitis C when doctors found a cancerous tumor. DeVille's music was a combination of rock, Latin, blues, Doo-Wop, Cajun, Creole, mariachi and country, and his lyrics were heavily romantic. His real name was William Borsay. DeVille...
