Only one episode remains in Season 3 of “Chucky,” and what a bloody road it’s been so far, especially for actor Devon Sawa. The actor has now officially died twice on screen this season, pulling double duty as President James Collins and body double Randall Jenkins.
If you thought Chucky’s ruthless eye-gouging of the President was bloody, this week’s Episode 7 traps Randall Jenkins in an elevator that feels straight out of an iconic horror classic.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with series creator Don Mancini and actor Devon Sawa about that ultra-bloody death sequence and how the actor inspires Mancini’s writing on the series.
Mancini explains, “Devon’s a bit of a muse. Idle Hands and Final Destination is where my Devon Sawa fandom started, like a lot of people; although yours may have started with Casper. I was a bit too old for that. But it’s really...

Many of the current generation of Asian and Pacific Islander writers working in television today came up through the Cape New Writers Fellowship, one of the most successful entry-level programs in the industry.
Now, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment is expanding its focus to the other end of the pipeline. The Cape Showrunners Incubator, powered by Starz’s #TakeTheLead diversity initiative for its inaugural year, will draw upon the nonprofit’s experience in talent development to give upper-level Api TV scribes the mentorship and other resources they need to break through that final ceiling.
“Showrunners and creative executives are the two main drivers of what ultimately ends up on screen, and this incubator is the perfect complement to the Cape Leaders Fellowship for creative executives if we want to change the stories that are told in mainstream media,” Cape executive director Michelle K. Starz is heading down south with Uncle Clifford.
The Lionsgate-backed premium cable network has ordered Down in the Valley, a half-hour docuseries exploring the Deep South with P-Valley star Nicco Annan set to host. The six-episode series will launch at a date to be determined this year and explore the people, music, culture and stories of the South, per Starz, as the show will feature everything from strip clubs to sex workshops, rap performances and ancient hoodoo rituals.
The order for Down in the Valley arrives as P-Valley — from creator Katori Hall — has been off the air for nearly two years. Sources say production on P-Valley is expected to resume later this year, though the show is not expected to air in 2024.
“P-Valley has authentically captured Southern Black culture in our fictional world of Chuccalisa and piqued the curiosity of our Pynk Posse to learn more,” said Kathryn Busby,...

“Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” may be the biggest original TV series premiere Canada has ever had. That means, when that famous “dun-dun” opens the series on Feb. 22 via Citytv, the pressure is on.
It’s notoriously hard to get a show greenlit in Canada. Funding challenges, market size and competition from U.S. acquisitions mean few, if any, Canadian series debut on the Big 3 commercial networks each season. Even public broadcaster CBC, which boasts the highest number of originals on a major network, still relies on acquisitions to fill out its primetime programming grid.
Figuring out how to make noise with a new series in a crowded landscape isn’t a uniquely Canadian challenge, but there are more hurdles here. That’s why from the beginning, a Canadian adaptation of “Criminal Intent” felt like a win — at least from a viewership and marketing standpoint. It’s a recognizable...

The Canadian Screen Awards has unveiled nominations for the national film and TV prize-giving, and the CBC civil rights drama The Porter leads the film and TV field with 19 mentions in all, including for best small-screen drama.
The first Canadian drama series from an all-Black creative team, which also streams on BET+, centers on the lives of Black train porters and their families as they launch North America’s first Black labor union in the 1920s.
The TV categories, voted on by around 3,000 Canadian industry insiders, also sees the CBC series Detention Adventure and Sort Of – a Peabody award-winning show about a gender fluid young Muslim in Toronto played by Bilal Baig — nab 15 nominations each in an awards show shaping up to be a major showcase for people of color.
That follows Canadian film, and TV industry efforts to ensure diversity and inclusivity in the country’s indie production sector and prize-giving process.

It wouldn't be the first time the life of "Bel-Air" gets flipped turned upside down. The series, which is a dramatic adaptation of the 1990s comedy "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," once again changes showrunners ahead of its second season.

The dramatic reimagining of Will Smith‘s classic sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air appears to be having a tough time finding the right showrunner, as Peacock‘s Bel-Air brings in its fourth producer to helm the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carla Banks-Waddles (Good Girls) has been promoted from co-executive producer to executive producer and showrunner for the show’s second season. She replaces T.J. Brady (The Chi) and Rasheed Newson (Lie to Me), who reportedly left due to creative differences with Peacock and producers Universal Television. Banks-Waddles becomes Bel-Air‘s fourth showrunner in its short history. The series, which was given a two-season, straight-to-series order at Peacock, originally had Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy) on board as showrunner. Collins wanted to produce an edgy, premium series, according to THR sources, while Peacock was looking for a more broad-skewing network-style show. Collins soon departed the show and was replaced by Diane Houston (Empire). However,...

The “John Wick” movies are a series of American action thriller films that follow the story of the titular character, John Wick (played by Keanu Reeves). The first movie in the “John Wick” movie series, “John Wick,” was released in 2014 and was directed by Chad Stahelski. How many “John Wick” movies are there? The straight answer to the question is three, chapter 4 of the series is set to release next year.
The movie follows John Wick as he seeks revenge after the Russian mobsters kill his dog, given to him by his late wife. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over 88 million worldwide.
The second movie, “John Wick: Chapter 2,” was released in 2017 and picked up right where the first one left off. In the second movie, John Wick is forced to fulfill a debt to the Italian Mafia, which puts him in conflict with some of the world’s deadliest assassins.

Clarice Episode 11
Clarice, episode 11, “Achilles Heel,” could almost be called the “I-told-you-so” episode. After half a season of knocking down Agent Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) as a rogue, unreliable, dangerous or mentally unbalanced cop, almost every character who got screen time this season gets to say their version of “we should have listened to Clarice.” This bodes well for the investigation, but also for the psyches of her closest acquaintances.
In the last episode, Clarice decided Catherine Martin (Marnee Carpenter) had to face some consequences for her actions. The surviving victim of the serial killer Buffalo Bill took his mother hostage, not entirely intentionally, but functionally enough to warrant observation. Catherine’s mother, the Attorney General Ruth Martin (Jayne Atkinson), is incensed over the idea her daughter is being victimized by the system, especially since she gave strict orders to the agent she forced to go rogue,...

Clarice Episode 9
Clarice episode 9, “Silence is Purgatory,” offers a taste of temporary hell by exploring the connections of the show’s past and getting blocked from forward movement. The team is finally looking into the links between the River Murders and Alastor Pharmaceuticals. The company’s drug Reprisol is responsible for multiple cases of babies born with birth defects, and their well-connected attorney Joe Hudland (Raoul Bhaneja) keeps someone on the payroll just to kill anyone who steps forward.
“Silence is Purgatory” opens in the midst of the pre-shoe-leather phase of the investigation. The ViCAP team is working in the basement, out of sight from the prying eyes of the Bureau. They can’t even see each other that well. Even several levels beneath the FBI offices, behind closed doors, the agents are apparently still too wary to turn on the overhead lights. It makes...

Joanna Hogg dedicated her award to the late Chris Collins.
The 24th annual Women in Film and TV Awards, held at the Park Lane Hilton in London yesterday, honoured Vanessa Redgrave with its Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Eon Productions. She is pictured with David Hare, who presented her trophy. “Thank you beyond words,” Redgrave said. “Good luck to everybody who is trying to do good work in film and TV wherever they may be.”
Rosamund Pike was honoured with the Mac Best Performance Award for her role in Gone Girl. The heavily pregnant actress accepted with a charming video message that praised novelist Gillian Flynn and director David Fincher for taking a risk by casting her as Amy. She joked that she could give birth while the lunch was going on, and quipped that “it takes less time to make a human being than it does to make a film.”

The film production executive Chris Collins, who has died of cancer aged 52, believed passionately in cinema as an art form as well as an entertainment category. And he viewed public service – in which he toiled for much of his career – as a rare privilege. He was a pragmatic problem solver who won the respect of collaborators and peers across the British film industry, and his was a highly credible voice that had particular value when articulated in favour of investment in risky projects, as it often was. He was a creative enabler who took his role seriously – while making himself the frequent target of his quiet, self-deprecating wit.
Chris was born in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, to John and Gill Collins, respectively a building maintenance supervisor and secretary, and attended North Crawley Church of England primary school and Ousedale comprehensive. When I first met him in the summer of 1983, after he...

Screen Film Summit: Belle director Amma Asante calls on industry to support filmmakers beyond their first movie.
Amma Asante, the award-winning director of Belle, has rallied the industry to back filmmakers beyond their debut feature.
Delivering the opening keynote of the Screen Film Summit this morning, Asante recalled hearing the buzz phrase ‘creating a sustainable industry’ when she made her first film A Way of Life in 2004.
“In my world, I took that to mean an industry in which all involved in making films could not only complete one or two, and then find themselves squeezed out by the financial pressures, but one in which the individuals who make up the industry could truly survive, maybe even thrive, through their continual contributions, that could be fairly reflected on as that thing called a ‘career’,” she told delegates.

I first met Chris at the Dinard FIlm Festival. I’d just watched Sarah Gavron’s beautiful rendition of Brick Lane, which Chris had produced. After the screening he, Sarah and I sat at small table outdoors in the brilliant sunshine talking about films, the pressures of being an independent producer, our daughters and how much I loved Brick Lane. I hope he knew that I was speaking from the heart. I was struck then by his quiet intelligence, his gracious and kind nature and his absolute devotion to and passion for independent film making. I could see that Sarah had enjoyed tremendous commitment from him as a producer on her first film. A quick reminder that Syfy is shuffling the 8pm and 10pm Monday shows beginning tonight is as good an excuse as any to post these TV spots for Bitten, now at 8/7c, Being Human, still at 9/8c, and Lost Girl, now at 10/9c. We also have a great clip from admittedly my very favorite of the three, the oh so very excellent Being Human. Enjoy!

Don’t miss any of them, and definitely give the new Bitten a try. A great lead character (who does her own martial arts stunts by the way), a slightly different take on werewolf mythology, and an interesting group of characters makes it worth your time to check out.
Thanks, Syfy, for making Mondays a good thing.

Don’t panic, don’t even worry. Our Monday lineup remains intact. It’s just being flipped. Today Syfy announced that new werewolf series Bitten and perennial favorite Lost Girl are switching places. Starting Monday, Lost Girl will be moving back to its more familiar timeslot of 10/9c, while Bitten moves from that time to a great spot for a new show, 8/7c.
And yes, our beloved Being Human remains right where it belongs, Mondays at 9/8c. To celebrate, check out this hilarious featurette, an illustrated tour of the house:

Just in case you haven’t checked out the SciFi Mafia calendar (there’s a tab for it above) lately, our Mondays are about to get a lot more crowded. This week marked the return of Almost Human, but next week is when things get crowded, as it is joined by the return of its Fox neighbor Sleepy Hollow, and Syfy unleashes an entire block of programming, with the return of Lost Girl and Being Human and the premiere of Bitten.
We’ll have advance spoiler-free reviews of the Syfy premieres posted here on SciFi Mafia soon, but until then, here’s a TV spot and all the pertinent info:
