Something about Sullivan's Crossing reminds me of the good old days of The WB.
Everwood and Gilmore Girls were two of my favorite shows, and I still think it's a travesty that the former didn't get to continue when The WB merged with Upn to form The CW.
The CW was looking for a show to harken back to those good old days, so acquiring a series featuring Scott Patterson and Chad Michael Murray was a smart move.
Sullivan's Crossing Season 1 Episode 1 throws us straight into the deep end, taking us into the world of Maggie Sullivan as her life is upended and she's forced to leave her big city life behind to return home.
It isn't a groundbreaking concept by any stretch of the imagination, but it does serve up some vintage small-town drama.
The best part of "Coming Home" was its ability to make me care for all the characters.

Stars: Ben Platt, Lola Kirke, Yvette Nicole Brown, Lynda Boyd | Written by Steve Waverly | Directed by Peter Sattler
I know Ben Platt predominantly from his major role in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen and his comedy role in Pitch Perfect, but he’s a good actor with a bright future at his feet, and small independent drama Broken Diamonds appealed to me. With Platt playing Scott, a twenty-something writer who plans to move to Paris to focus on his writing, he encounters a hurdle in the form of his father passing away and his sister, Cindy, who struggles from mental illness, being temporarily injected into his life on a wider level.
It’s a really well acted film and director Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) does a wonderful job at keeping the camera on the emotions of his actors, a fly on the wall to the proceedings. It’s a nicely written movie,...

Virgin River concluded its third season with a funeral.
But the person in the coffin is not done with the show yet.
Lynda Boyd, who plays Lilly on the Netflix drama, has announced her character will be back for Virgin River Season 4.
"When I did have that chat that day with those producers, they said that the plan was to bring me back in flashbacks – like Mel's husband, her dead husband," Boyd told Radio Times of the day she learned Lilly would be killed off.
"Nobody has said anything yet. As far as I know, Tara will look after Chloe. I'm pretty sure Annette [O'Toole] will come back as Hope. Nobody has any idea."
Lilly was diagnosed with terminal cancer early into Virgin River Season 3 and passed away in the final episodes.
The actress also shared with the outlet that she was great friends with the people on the show.

Virgin River Season 3 put all of the characters in difficult situations, but one of them did not survive the season.
Early into Virgin River Season 3, Lilly revealed her cancer diagnosis, and by the end, she had died.
Lynda Boyd, who played Lilly throughout the first three seasons, has opened up about her response to the storyline after losing two siblings to cancer.
"I had a call from the producers, a conference call, and they're like, 'We're so excited for your storyline for season three – you're going to get cancer and die,'" the star said to RadioTimes.com.
"And I was sitting there at my end and going, 'Oh. Cancer. Cool.' I lost two siblings to cancer and I just didn't want to go back there and feel those feelings anymore, but it ended up being some really good writing for Lilly."

Tragedy strikes Virgin River in the Netflix drama’s third season, and even though viewers are given several episodes to prepare themselves, it’s still not enough to soften the blow.
We’re talking about Lilly, played to heartbreaking perfection by Lynda Boyd, who reveals at the end of Episode 2 that she’s been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. For the next six episodes, we watch as Lilly prepares to leave behind the people she loves, while also learning to accept her own future.

What?!
Goodness, Virgin River Season 3 Episode 5 dropped some bombshells and brought the drama and all of the emotions.
From Todd's despicable offer, those devastating Lilly scenes, and Brie dropping a massive bomb on Mel before collapsing to the ground, there's so much we have to discuss.
Lynda Boyd has this likeness to Susan Sarandon, so one of the hardest parts about her storyline is the reminder of the film Stepmom. We know the film ends in tragedy, and it's likely that there's no going up from here for Lilly.
She's such a wonderful, strong, dedicated woman, and she's been through hell and back. She's lost so much, and she's endured more than most in her lifetime. One never would've envisioned that she'd end up terminally ill, especially when it seemed she had made some progress and found her footing again.
She focuses so much on the other people around her,...

"Your sister didn't ruin your life, her illness did." FilmRise has unveiled an official trailer for an indie film titled Broken Diamonds, the latest from filmmaker Peter Sattler, his second feature following his debut Camp X-Ray with Kristen Stewart. It just premiered at this year's Santa Barbara Film Festival a few months ago. In the wake of his father's death, a young writer sees his dream of moving to Paris put in jeopardy when he's forced to temporarily take in his wildly unpredictable, mentally ill sister. The film stars Ben Platt and Lola Kirke, with Yvette Nicole Brown, Alphonso McAuley, Lynda Boyd, and Peter Benson. This looks like it has heart and a dash of brutal truth as he tries to figure out what to do with his life. Take a look. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Peter Sattler's Broken Diamonds, direct from YouTube: In the wake of his father's death,...

Drama, drama, drama: “Virgin River” has been renewed for a third season, Netflix said on Friday.
That news means we’ll get some payoff on those Season 2 cliffhangers, like Jack (Martin Henderson) being shot, the whole Paige/Michelle’s (Lexa Doig) dead-husband’s-twin-brother thing, a child-sized wrench being thrown in Preacher’s (Colin Lawrence) plans to move to San Francisco and become a fancy chef and Doc (Tim Matheson) getting some mysterious — and seemingly bad — health news from another doc in another town.
Yeah, it’s A Lot.
No premiere date has been set for the upcoming Season 3. The second season debuted on Netflix on Nov. 27.
“Virgin River” follows a recently widowed big-city nurse (Alexandra Breckenridge) who moves to the redwood forests of northern California, where she meets an intriguing man (Henderson).
The series also stars Lauren Hammersley and Annette O’Toole. Joining the cast for Season 3 will be Zibby Allen and Stacey Farber.

This article contains spoilers for just about every film on its list.
I don’t know when it started exactly.
When I was very young, it was fine. I maybe even enjoyed getting on an elevator and being whisked off, but somewhere in the timeline of my life, something changed. I began to dread stepping onto one. My heart would pound, a cold sweat would creep down my neck and my breath would quicken.
“What’s wrong?” a bemused acquaintance would ask as we were about to embark.
“Oh! Nothing, really,” I’d respond as casually as I could for someone suddenly about to lose control of their bowels. “I just thought I might take the stairs. Bit of exercise, you know.”

Uwe Boll's latest will release June 1st on DVD through Phase 4 Films (Rampage). Boll is often regarded as one of the worst directors in cinema. However, there are some films of Boll's that have turned out digestable e.g. Tunnel Rats. Rampage could turn out to be one of his better films based on reviews. In Rampage Bill starts a one man war with society. Guess who wins? The DVD artwork can be seen here with a synopsis below. Is Boll transitioning into a quality filmmaker? That might be a stretch at this point. Yet, Darfur and Rampage both have potential. A trailer for this release is inside.
The synopsis for Rampage here:
"The boredom of small town life is eating Bill Williamson alive. Feeling constrained and claustrophobic in the meaningless drudgery of everyday life and helpless against overwhelming global dissolution, Bill (Brendan Fletcher) begins a descent into madness.
