The family drama 7th Heaven has been gone since 2006, wrapping its 11-season run on the WB and then one season on The CW.

There’s no greater feeling than the love of family, 7th Heaven’s theme song tells us, and the alumni of that WB-to-cw drama certainly felt the love as they reunited in Connecticut for 90s Con. Beverley Mitchell, who played Lucy Camden on the show, shared photos of herself with 7th Heaven cast members on Instagram on Friday. In one pic, she poses for a selfie with TV mom Catherine Hicks (Annie Camden) and faux-siblings Mackenzie Rosman (Ruthie Camden), David Gallagher (Simon Camden), and Barry Watson (Matt Camden). “Beyond grateful for these crazy humans that I call family!” Mitchell wrote in the caption. “To say that this was needed was an understatement. This weekend, Rob Savage (Host) brings his adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman to theaters. But for those of us who were of horror-watching age eighteen years ago (that hurts to say out loud), there was 2005’s Boogeyman… a horror film that launched an entire trilogy.
That first movie was successful enough to spawn both Boogeyman 2 and Boogeyman 3, though both sequels went straight to video here in the States. So, in honor of the upcoming The Boogeyman, let us take a look back at the Boogeymen of old. Even if they are completely and utterly unrelated in every way possible… and we cannot stress that enough.
Boogeyman (2005)
Directed by Stephen Kay, Boogeyman came to us at an interesting time for the horror genre. “Torture porn” was in full swing with Wolf Creek, Saw and Hostel all releasing. PG-13 horror competition included The Grudge, The Skeleton Key and The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

This article contains Naomi spoilers.
Black girls and young women are underrepresented in fantasy and science fiction. In the amorphous genre we’ll call “superhero” television (and film), there are very few, if any, major characters who are young, Black girls. We didn’t really see a Black girl superhero in live-action on TV until Jennifer Pierce gets powers and becomes Lightning in Black Lightning. And while that character is important, she’s the only one. It’s not that Black girls don’t exist in these worlds, but that they are largely relegated to supporting characters whose stories serve to further the development of a white and/or male lead—if they’re even given stories of their own. To be a Black girl in a superhero story is to be a sidekick, if that.
That changed with Naomi.
Naomi skateboarded its way into our hearts the moment the titular character appeared on-screen.

Imagine finding out that your adopted parents took the lives of your biological parents.
Something that just was never in the DNA of Jonathan and Martha Kent, Superman’s down-to-Earth guardians.
But life can’t always imitate that of your mentor, the Man of Steel; a harsh truth that alien Naomi (Kaci Walfall) learned tonight on the two-hour season finale of the Ava DuVernay-Jill Blankenship co-created series.
But before we get there, in part one of the season finale, “Ready or Not,” our protagonist is given a locket by fellow alien Akira (Stephanie March), who was her mother’s friend. She’s re-building a ship to get Naomi back to her home planet, a mission her Earth parents Greg and Jennifer McDuffie (Barry Watson...

Naomi is the latest entry in The CW’s slate of shows based on DC Comics’ characters. Written and executive produced by Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship, and adapted from the comic book of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker and Jamal Campbell for the Wonder Comics imprint, the show follows the journey of a cool, confident, comic book–loving teenager as she pursues her hidden destiny.
Naomi looks at superheroes from the perspective of the small town folks who read about it in the news. Naomi runs a Superman fan site. He is fiction in her world… until he’s not. When she misses a Superman sighting—or what everyone assumes is a “stunt”—in her small town of Port Oswego, she jumps at the opportunity to investigate the appearance. The more she looks into the stunt, the closer she gets to learning the truth about herself.

Most of the superheroes on the DC-on-The-cw dramas have a long history with each other. Their comic book counterparts have been around for decades, and even in these adaptations, the characters have crossed over into each other’s worlds to team up and take down villains more than once.
But when “Naomi” joins the lineup on Jan. 11, the show — and the titular character, played by Kaci Walfall — is on her own.
She may be a big fan of Superman within the series — so much so that she runs one of the largest fan sites in the world about the DC hero — but she lives in a very different universe than the one in which The CW’s Superman (of “Superman & Lois”) resides.
“I want this to be an autonomous story about Naomi,” executive producer Ava DuVernay tells Variety. “One of the things I really wanted was for her to live in her own universe.

Even though high schooler Naomi (Kaci Walfall) tells us in her opening voiceover that “everyone has a superhero origin story,” hers immediately looks different enough from most on TV to stand apart. The CW has unveiled its first look at Kaci Walfall as the titular hero of its upcoming series Naomi.
During Saturday’s DC FanDome presentation, the network shared a teaser that sees Walfall’s Naomi on the case of what seems to be a mysterious stunt involving superman.
“I need this for my site,” Naomi interrupts her class before rushing out into the hallways.
After grabbing her bags to get to the center of action Asap, Naomi skateboards through the hallways of her school and reaches her destination. However, potentially overwhelmed by what she sees, Naomi loses consciousness. But right before it’s lights out for her, she sees a familiar silouhette shoot through the sky.

The CW’s next DC heroine is ready for her close-up. The network on Friday released an official first look at Ava DuVernay’s Naomi pilot, starring Kaci Walfall (Power) in the title role.
Based on characters from the comics, Naomi “follows a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse,” according to the pilot’s official logline. “When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.”
