Martial art legend and actor Bruce Lee may have died from drinking too much water, a research claims.
Doctors are making the claim almost 50 years after the icon died aged 32 in the summer of 1973 in Hong Kong, reports aceshowbiz.com.
An autopsy report from the time showed that the ‘Enter the Dragon’ star had been killed by brain swelling, which medics said was due to taking a painkiller. Researchers have now reviewed the evidence and concluded that Bruce is more likely to have died from hyponatremia.
A team of experts wrote in the Clinical Kidney Journal: “In other words, we propose that the kidney’s inability to excrete excess water killed Bruce Lee. We hypothesize that Bruce Lee died from a specific form of kidney dysfunction: the inability to excrete enough water to maintain water homeostasis, which is mainly a tubular function.”
“This may lead to hyponatremia, cerebral edema (brain...

The new 30 for 30 documentary Be Water opens up with a black-and-white screen test of its subject, martial arts legend Bruce Lee, from the mid-Sixties. Lee silently follows instructions to turn his head to different angles, before the off-screen director says, “Now the camera will pull back,” and invites his subject to demonstrate some kung-fu moves with a member of the crew as his theoretical target. Lee is utterly relaxed, putting his audience at ease with a joke about how accidents can happen even in an exhibition like this. He casually shifts into his stance,...

If your only introduction to the work of Bruce Lee was a certain summer tentpole last year, The Criterion Collection is here to change that. This summer, they will be releasing a box set of five of his greatest kung-fu actioners, spread across seven beautiful discs with a plethora of special features.
Officially titled Bruce Lee: His Greatest Hits, it includes the best of the martial arts legend’s 1970s work, including 4K digital restorations of The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Game of Death, and The Way of the Dragon, along with a new 2K digital restoration of the rarely-seen 99-minute 1973 theatrical version of Enter the Dragon and the 102-minute “special-edition” version.
All in all, it’s the perfect tribute to the man who would’ve turned 80 this year, but sadly left us far too soon at 32. See the trailer, full list of special features, and cover art below.

Without a doubt, Bruce Lee is a martial arts icon. He’s a cinematic fixture in pop culture and in the new documentary Be Water premiering at Sundance on January 25, filmmaker Bao Nguyen touches on his role as martial artists, but he goes beyond that and paints a picture of Lee’s impact in Hollywood during the ’60s, his trailblazing role as Asian advocate and an American institution.
Prior to Be Water, Nguyen directed the 2019 docuseries We Gon’ Be Alright based on Jeff Chang’s book of the same name and the docu feature Live From New York!, which detailed the history of the late-night sketch show. He said that doing the film sparked an interest in doing another project about American cultural institutions. With Live From New York!, he looked at SNL through a different lens and he wanted to do the same thing — this time with Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee’s Daughter Says Quentin Tarantino ‘Could Shut Up’ About Her Father’s Portrayal (Exclusive)
Bruce Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, is responding to director Quentin Tarantino’s latest comments regarding her father’s portrayal in the film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
“He could shut up about it,” she told Variety when asked how Tarantino could rectify the controversy. “That would be really nice. Or he could apologize or he could say, ‘I don’t really know what Bruce Lee was like. I just wrote it for my movie. But that shouldn’t be taken as how he really was.'”
Tarantino recently defended his depiction of the Asian American martial arts legend (portrayed by Mike Moh) as an arrogant blowhard. “Bruce Lee was kind of an arrogant guy,” Tarantino said at a recent press junket in Moscow. “The way he was talking, I didn’t just make a lot of that up. I heard him say things like that, to that effect.

In the realm of Martial Arts movies, Enter the Dragon is as classic a movie as Casablanca or Citizen Kane. I’m sure that will make some movie aficionados scream balderdash, but for genre fans such is the case. The movie captures the ideals and philosophy the late Bruce Lee developed in founding his unique Martial Art style, Jeet Kune Do. As Lee says in the movie, “You can call it the art of fighting without fighting.” Now celebrating its 40th Anniversary, Enter the Dragon remains a staple film in both the Action and Kung-Fu flick genres.
In Enter the Dragon, Lee agrees to go attend a Martial Arts tournament hosted by Han (Kien Shih), a former student of the Shaolin temple where Lee trained. When Han left the Shaolin temple, he used the teachings to start a worldwide syndicate of corruption. It actually sounds funny writing Han’s character description.

The martial arts star is to get another biopic, kicking off with the story of a real-life fight in the mid-1960s
Bruce Lee is to return to the big screen in an "origins story" which will use a legendary incident in the martial arts icon's life to spin off into action movie territory, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Birth of the Dragon does not appear to be a traditional biopic, but it does begin with a fight which really took place between Lee and the famed Chinese kung fu master Wong Jack Man in San Francisco in 1964, when the city's Chinatown was ruled by triad gangs from Hong Kong. Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J Rivele's screenplay then transfers into strict fantasy territory as the former combatants team up to battle Chinatown gangsters.

Shannon Lee, daughter of the martial arts master, shares memories of her inspirational father
Shannon Lee grins and apologises for the mess. We're at the Los Angeles offices of Bruce Lee Enterprises. They've just moved in and an archipelago of merchandise is strewn across the floor. The company logo depicts a silhouette of the martial arts master in mid-flight, an inverted E of kinetic majesty. A poster shows Lee crouching, nunchucks stowed beneath his armpits. Devotees would feel at home here.
As company CEO, his 43-year-old daughter is the official keeper of the legacy. She assumed the mantle several years ago from her mother, Bruce Lee's widow Linda Lee Cadwell, who had met the young martial artist while he studied philosophy at university in Washington state in the 1960s. Both Lee and her mother are contributors to I Am Bruce Lee, a new documentary by Peter McCormack.

Here's an awesome new trailer for a upcoming documentary called I Am Bruce Lee. There's already a good amount of Bruce Lee documentaries that have been made over the years, but this one looks pretty badass. The movie was directed by Pete McCormack, and includes a ton of footage of Lee as well as several interviews with different celebrities including Mickey Rourke, Ed O'Neill, Manny Pacquiao, Gina Carano, and Kobe Bryant. I'm a huge fan of Bruce Lee, and I already watch the same old docs about him over and over again, so it will be great to see a new one. The movie will get a limited theatrical release on February 9th, 2012. Check out the trailer for the film below and tell us what you think!

The Apollo 13 actor, who began his career behind the camera, is in talks to helm the movie version of the cult 1970s TV series
Bill Paxton, the star of Aliens, Near Dark and Apollo 13, is in talks to direct a big-screen outing for the seminal 1970s martial arts western series, Kung Fu, reports Deadline.
Paxton is best known as an actor, but has previously directed two films: 2005 sports drama The Greatest Game Ever Played and well-received 2001 horror Frailty. He gained his first experience behind the camera working with the legendary B-movie director Roger Corman as a set designer in the late 1970s, before embarking on an acting career.
A film version of Kung Fu has been mooted in Hollywood for at least five years: the original series, starring David Carradine, has gained a cult status over time and the death of its star in 2009 has only served to increase interest.

As The Expendables appears on DVD and Blu-ray, Duncan got to meet with the legendary Dolph Lundgren to discuss his back catalogue of classic action movies...
For those of us growing up in the 80s, Dolph Lundgren needs no introduction. However, since the interview took place, I've talked to several people, mostly in their late teens/early twenties, who haven't heard of him and I've become increasingly aware of the generation gap. It was a subject which came up in the interview itself, so in the interest of inclusion, following the interview portion, there's a very quick rundown of the films that encouraged such loyal geek fandom starting some twenty-five years ago.
At the interview, the man himself was incredibly polite, friendly and laughed at every available opportunity, also apologising at the beginning and end of our time for not being able to stand up to shake hands. (He was wired in to microphones.
