- A German Police investigator assigned to his country's embassy in Algiers leads an illicit love story with an Algerian Prosecutor. The kidnapping of a German arms dealer puts them in direct conflict as they head each side of the case.
- Ralf Eley, a German police investigator assigned to his country's embassy in Algiers, and Amel Samraoui, a young Algerian prosecutor, return together from a secret romantic getaway when they learn of the kidnapping of a German arms dealer on Algerian soil. Meanwhile, at the Tegel Airport in Berlin, Aziz Amrani, a young Algerian expatriate welcomes Djamel Benmedi, a fellow countryman who has just landed from Algiers. They both belong to a rebel faction that fights for the democratisation of Algeria, and plan to hold up a convoy of German assault rifles headed for Soudani's government.
- General Soudani, Amel's uncle and head of the Algerian Secret Service, insists along with Toumi, his second in command, that the kidnapping is the work of Islamic terrorists.
- In Alger, Toumi summons Ralf, and threatens him by handing him an echography of Amel, two months pregnant with his baby. Despite these threats, and Amel's appeal to caution, Ralf continues the inquiry into his countryman's disappearance.
- Ralf finds the group responsible for kidnapping the Germans; the American visits the general with critical information, but for a price.
