Although paralyzed and suspended from work, the tuff cop continues to investigate and takes revenge on the gangsters who did this to him.

She builds up a bond with Rico and falls in love with Paul, until the truth catches up.
- The movie takes place in Budapest in 1904. Two boys gangs are opposed. On the one hand "the boys of Via Pal," the other the "red shirts". The battlefield is precisely the area around the Via Pal. The plot has several differences compared to that of the novel: it is said, for example, of a friendship between the grandmother of Csele and Jano Guardian, both absolutely marginal characters (the grandmother even in the novel is only mentioned).

Daniel approves of her total patient-care concept but refuses to become the new medical chief. However he enjoys being a substitute father to her preteen son Frederik enough to stay around longer. Then fate intervenes.
