Neighborhood Threat
'Neighborhood Threat' is an intimate character study that uses the vast landscape of horror as a platform from which to leap and unearth the darker, more complex sides of life. In it, we follow a young woman who is brutally attacked and raped by an unknown assailant after a late night of partying. Reinterpreting elements of the classic werewolf myth to use the imagery as a powerful metaphor, this feminist tale explores the main character’s intense emotional and psychological transformation as she comes to terms with surviving a life-altering trauma. Lacking a strong support network, she struggles with profound feelings of grief and rage, becoming increasingly isolated and vulnerable as the city around her takes on a suffocating presence. In the end, she realizes that her scars are more than skin deep and embraces her new identity to reclaim control over her hostile environment. This psychological horror film strives to examine some of the more disturbing aspects of our culture – power dynamics, paranoia, rape, sexually transmitted disease, and ultimately, the animal nature still found within us all.
