Project-M - documentary featurette
Have you ever dreamt of reaching the stars?
Of looking back at this great blue world from up there in awe?
A group of young French-Canadian filmmakers believed that everything was possible.
And they answered with a story called Project-M.
Following their acclaimed scifi-drama project « Time Out », Project-M is a new opportunity to think outside the box to tell stories. An innovative transmedia-interactive-digital-filmmaking production from award winning team Babel Productions.
In a near future world, stressed by climate changes, energy depletion and social unrest, the Quebec Space Agency has been recruiting astronauts for the Project-M mission. The goal is to prove the feasibility of a long term space travel to Europa, one of Jupiter's moons. To reproduce these conditions, four human beings are sent into a space station orbiting Earth at 10 000km for a 1000 days.
Launched as a 10-minute 10-episode online series and a 90-minute feature film, it also offers interviews with real astronauts around the world, different ways of using social medias to improve the story and to connect with fans, a website for the fictional Quebec Space Agency and multiple online episodes of a « how to create a scifi story from scratch » documentary. Not to forget the development of a TV series-spinoff and a sequel through an online comic book, for the benefit of a multiscreen generation of viewers.
