Hudson & Rex (2019)
Surprisingly good show
Based on the commercials I have seen advertising "Hudson & Rex" on UPTV, I expected the acting to be terrible and painful to watch. It is actually pretty good. The acting is quite a bit better than I thought it would be. I have only seen a few of the episodes but I hope to see many more in the near future. Looking forward to more "Hudson & Rex". I have seen other reviews calling the show predictable and formulaic, but as someone who enjoys the police procedural genre, I do not think predictable or formulaic are negative attributes for a television show, particularly in the police procedural genre..
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
A very unique, interesting show.
"Only Murders in the Building" seems like a really strange combination of elements - actors I would not have thought to put together (except for Steve Martin and Martin Short, of course), genres* I would not have thought to put together, but the elements all come together to create a very unique and interesting show. Thank you for showing "Only Murders in the Building" on ABC and for starting at the beginning. I really like it so far. By the way, I have not seen justification for the TV-MA rating so far. Oh, maybe the profanity but it is censored.
*I'm not even sure which genre I'd put it in.
A Small Light (2023)
Fantastic miniseries
Truly excellent. Excellent miniseries. Excellent writing, excellent acting. I have heard and seen many stories regarding the Holocaust and particularly Anne Frank and the other people in the annex. This is wonderfully unique. We should all aspire to have the courage and bravery of Miep and Jan Geis. No hesitation. They both knew the right thing to do and immediately jumped into action. With each new episode, I anxiously anticipate the next episode. I wish this miniseries would continue for years. I will be sad to see it end. All actors, writers etc should aim to produce work this outstanding.!
7th Heaven (1996)
Great show
7th Heaven was a great show throughout its entire run (except maybe that final season. I could have done without it.) I wish there were still shows like this on the air. I can appreciate the difference between reality and fiction but I wish the imperfect actors' real lives more closely resembled their imperfect fictional characters.
United States of Al (2021)
Fantastic show!
Timely, relevant and thought-provoking. It's funny and entertaining while addressing serious topics. It was relevant when it premiered. It's even more relevant now.
The Upside (2017)
Fantastic movie!
As someone born w/ a disability who uses a wheelchair and requires assistance for many things on a daily basis, I found this movie very relatable. I've heard it said that only disabled actors should play the roles of disabled people. While I would like to see more actors with disabilities gain recognition and success, in the case of Bryan Cranston and The Upside, I disagree. Cranston does an amazing job portraying the life of someone paralyzed from the neck down. Before seeing this movie, I was told that the ending is sad. Again, I have to disagree. I found it positive and uplifting.
