Critters: A New Binge (2019)
Perfect example of why we dont want to see movies become tv shows!
Ok this review is going to contain some spoilers just a heads up.
I was really excited to hear that Shudder was making this show, I grew up with the critters movies, and some of the other shudder originals were really good...
With that being said, this was literally a train wreck that I couldn't stop watching because it just became worse and worse.
The mom, who was brought back from one of the movies, i think she was just a bit player, hooked up with a critter at a party... yes... you heard that right... she made sweet love to a critter... she then has a kid, who turns out to be a critter/human hybrid, who can turn himself into a ball... the critters come back to earth to find him and take him with them....
The critter puppets were good old school puppets, which was the best part of the show. The acting was terrible, the effects were horrible, the bounty hunters were bad. (they literally crashed their ship in australia and ... RAN... to Iowa!)
What honestly kept me watching the whole thing was all 8 episodes in total were like a total of 2 hours long, if the shows were longer, there's no way i could have handled it.
Please hollywood... stop destroying good classic movies with your made for TV crap... you literally killed my childhood with this
Cynthia (2018)
Great Movie, campy fun! (some mild spoilers)
Ok so this movie had everything in it: a great cast including multiple actors from Rob Zombie's movies, gratuitousness sex scenes (you know that's half the reason you watch horror movies!!) campy monsters, and really good funny scenes. What turned me on about the movie is that it is made by Girls & Corpses and one of the actresses in the film, this is her first mainstream movie, so that was what put it on the radar for me. Seeing Rufus from Devil's Rejects, dressed like a homeless woman totally sold me on it however!!
This movie takes from the old school style of perspective of the creature, not letting you see what it really is until way later, which is a great way to build the suspense instead of blowing it super early. The acting was great, the movie didn't feel cheap or low budget. I personally hope to see a lot more out of Girls & Corpses in the future!!
Furry Nights (2016)
Interesting
Initially, being a furry myself, I was pretty offended and annoyed that they immediately went "there" with their portrayal of furries.. We get dressed up, get together in the woods, and get our kinks on while making animal sounds. But once I got past that, it was pretty humorous. Think of this as an outside point of view of furry revenge. By the end, i actually enjoyed it.
