Lower rated than I would think
27 December 2023
TV shows on IMDB with ratings in the 7's are usually mediocre and TV shows 8 or above are usually pretty good. I feel this show is a very good scifi show and should be rated higher. Now I'm not familiar with the source material but I think that is why it's rated quite a bit lower than it should be. People who wanted an adaption of the source material are disappointed and rate it lower, while people unfamiliar with the source material enjoy it and rate it higher. At least that's what I've gleaned from the other reviews I've read. Many seem to say it shouldn't have been an adaption at all, but just a stand alone show instead. Personally, as someone unfamiliar with the source material, I do enjoy the show. The visuals are great, the world building is great, the special effects and CGI look good. The writing and storytelling is good and they aren't afraid to "go there". My only complaint is that it does lean into "the message" somewhat... it's not overdone and I think they've struck a good balance between storytelling and representation.

I couldn't get into it, is very much a kid's cartoon
15 September 2023
I couldn't get into this Anime, I watched about 8 episodes and everything about it, from the animation to the dialog, was very basic and very simple.. like for children. The animation (even of the monsters) is very unthreatening... like how villians are in children's cartoons. I think that is partially why I don't care for it. Perhaps I stopped watching it too early but I'm not really enjoying any elements of the story. None of the characters are particularly great, I don't care for how they do magic, and I don't worry about any of them getting hurt or losing fights which brings no tension. Normally when I find a good anime, I'll binge the whole thing immediately but this one I watched those 8 episodes over the course of 4 days or so. It just didn't grip me at all. I would imagine I'd be hooked enough by now if it was something worth continuing but it's just not.

HUGE PLOT HOLE
15 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So the kid that got shot at the beginning of the episode is determined not to have a gun and the one cop supposedly planted it on him. That doesn't make sense because we literally see him shoot at the 2 cops at the beginning of the episode, a bullet hole in the top of the stair column, and wood pieces from that column flying everywhere. After the episode was over, I went back to the beginning to watch it again just because it didn't make sense at the end. The other review on here said that the episode was complete nonsense. I didn't think it was that bad really until that glaring plot hole ended up having me question my sanity. Like how do you miss that when you edit the episode? That few seconds could have just been cut out or something. But this makes me question if he was originally supposed to have had a gun on him and they change the script in the middle of filming. Maybe they were afraid of angering a certain group and changed the story halfway. Who knows but I hope the rest of the show doesn't have any other glaring issues like this or I might have to stop watching.

It's not bad, it's just not great either.
25 April 2023
I keep reading that this is a faithful retelling of the manga, that may be true but I don't know because I'm not a manga reader. Maybe people are rating it based on how close it is to the manga, but as a stand alone anime, it's rated too high. What I can say is that it has good elements but it also has a lot of flaws. Without giving away spoilers I'll tell you that the pacing is way too long in certain areas and too short in others. Some characters you like are given barely any backstory and characters you don't really care about are given a lot. The character relationships developed between each other feel rushed and therefore it throws off the story. The comedy takes away from the vibe of the whole show and should have just been done away with entirely. Some parts of the show seem totally unrealistic (yes, even for an anime). Now all that being said, I like the main characters (mostly) and the darkness, action, gore, and plot. 6/10.

Henry is just fundamentally unlikable
17 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers ahead!

I watched this because it was based on the movie Jumper which I enjoyed. I'm a big fan of scifi and teleportation and thought that concept would be cool. It's loosely based on that concept but is more about the drama and investigation by authorities of her crushing a car with her powers to escape an attempted rape. It wasn't bad but I found myself really disliking the main character.. she's just awful and by the end of the second season I could tell why. This is a villain origin story. Yes, Henry ends up being the villain by the end.. I think the show ended before they really could expand on that in the 3rd season but I think it was the writing that didn't work for me. Even villains need to be likable if they are going to be one of the main protagonists and Henry is just not. She was insufferable and her downfall was slow and hard to watch.. she makes the same mistakes over and over, is irrational for no reason, she lashes out at the wrong people. Etc. I mean as a villain it kind of works but as the main protagonist that you want to root for, it doesn't.

Star Trek: Enterprise: Similitude (2003)

Archer is a terrible Captain.
8 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Slowly I've been seeing the decline of Archer throughout this series. He constantly breaks the rules and then criticizes others for doing the same, he constantly makes bad calls, and in this episode he threatens to kill Sim so he can save Trip, even when Sim could have been saved. I grew up watching TOS, TNG, Voyager, and even DS9 and I dislike Archer (and Enterprise) the most out of all old Star Trek. This episode especially shows Archer's bad character. When Captain Archer behaves unlike any other Star Trek Captain would in a similar situation, then it's like I'm not in the Star Trek Universe... like I'm watching another show. I think Archer just doesn't have good morals, lacks strong convictions, is petty and emotional.

Fillers and flashbacks comprise most of the show. It's so SLOWWWWW
6 July 2022
I skipped the filler episodes but even the episodes that I did watch felt like the show dragged on and on. The flashbacks are way to many and repeat over and over. You'll get a flashback and then the next episode it will repeat the same flashback again. Flashbacks sometimes start right in the middle of a fight and then run for multiple episodes before the fight resumes. I found myself increasing the play speed to get through the dull parts. I can't understand why this is rated so high. I've watched a lot of anime and heard good things about this, but by the time I got to watch it, it definitely didn't live up to the hype. If they removed the fillers and flashbacks this show would be a lot better and probably about 50 episodes instead of 220. I heard Shippuden is just as bad with filler and flashbacks which means that I may not watch it at all.

Not bad but overhyped for sure
5 June 2022
I'm not sure how this got the "best anime of all time" title. It's good, it's just not great. I like the premise and the characters development but I feel it's just missing something... Perhaps a good arc. It's a bunch of stand alone stories essentially and that's just not my thing. It doesn't hold a candle to AOT, Death Note, or even Code Geass in my opinion.

First arc feels like a cartoon, second arc is better.
5 June 2022
Besides the ogling of half naked women, the first arc of this Anime feels more for kids than Adults. It lacks good dialog, has typical anime tropes, and everything is over the top. It feels more like a Saturday morning cartoon than an anime actually. It's watchable, but not what I was hoping for. The second arc (on the other hand) has more adult themes and feels more like an anime. The dialog is better, but not perfect, it still has anime tropes but not as annoying. Everything is still over the top, in fact, this whole anime is probably the definition of "That escalated quickly". Overall it's mid to low 6 rating but I'd probably rate the second season higher than the first.

I rate my Anime by this rating scale

10 = Perfect. Very unlikely I'd give a perfect rating.

9 = Excellent 8 = Very good 7 = Good 6 = Watchable 5 = Barely tolerable 4, 3, 2 = Trash, wouldn't watch and unlikely a rating for me 1 = Extremely bad, probably pissed me off in some way, may have given this rating based on principle.

It's good but it can be annoying and inconsistent at times.
1 June 2022
First, what bothered me:

The animation is really inconsistent at times and during battles they often switch up the animation style, which tends to make it worse. The second half of the 3rd season is extremely slow and hard to get through but the 4th season goes into overdrive. Some characters are annoying and the show waits forever for characters to get curious about their own powers, which I found pretty unrealistic.

Overall though, the show has good action, good storylines, and the characters are likable and amusing. It has lots of comedy, which can be too much at times for me anyways. I'd probably give it a 7.5 but they don't do partial stars.

My rating scale is like I rate movies. Anything under 5 is not worth watching and 10 would have to be the best ever.

Better than what I was thinking. Watch it!
24 May 2022
I was hesitating on watching this Anime but it's better than some others I watched recently. I liked it more than Re:Zero, for instance. I didn't know what to expect other than knowing someone got reborn into a new world but I ended up liking it a lot and binging all the episodes. Now I'm excited for a new season.

My rating scale is like I rate movies. Anything under 5 is not worth watching and 10 would have to be the best ever.

It gets better, it just takes a while.
22 May 2022
At first the main character is kind of naive (but likable) but as the show goes on, about halfway through the first season, he gets increasingly whiney, petty, and jealous. It was hard to watch and I was going to stop watching but I liked the action scenes and the worldbuilding so I gave it another try. The show gets a lot better towards the end of the first season. The second season is slow, like other reviews have mentioned, but it has it's good parts. Whole episodes in the second season could have been removed. They were going for emotional scenes that kind of miss the mark and drag on. If you are going to watch, be prepared for a protagonist who you actually start to hate at points but gets better over time. The ending of the second season leaves a lot unresolved (but the ending itself I was happy with).

Great Show, not at all what I was thinking it was going to be about!
12 May 2022
This is a time travel show but it's not the typical journey to the past to try and stop Hitler or whatever (like a bunch of TV shows are about). I was actually hesitant to watch it at first because I thought it was going to be like that... but it's not. The story is pretty unique and the main character is probably my favorite part of the show. It's kind of crazy and that's what makes it fun. Give it a watch and if you like some time travel mixed with crazy, you should like it. Fair warning, season 2 (Gate 0) is slow and feels like a different show until the end, but if you stick with the ending is good.

Beginning is like a different show. Doesn't get good until episode 17
12 May 2022
Honestly, this feels like a different show up until the end. My favorite parts are missing until then. It's not terrible, it's just that it's not very good without the elements that made the first season what it was. I rated a 7 strictly for the ending, without it, this is probably a 6. The beginning episodes are like a sad romance and the middle episodes are like a mystery show. If you are wanting a show that reminds you of the first season Steins Gate, you have to make it through the first 16 episodes to get to the end. The ending I did enjoy but I kind of struggled to get there. I wouldn't recommend skipping ahead or it won't make a lot of sense however. Just understand you may have to struggle through the first 2/3rds of the show to get more true Steins Gate.

Adult show with comedy/jokes aimed at little kids.
9 May 2022
The animation is fine, the adult content doesn't bother me but the character dialog and interactions leave a lot to be desired. I feel like this was made for adults (with the swearing and violence) but for little kids with the jokes, characters being obnoxious (while explaining something important), and sheer stupidity of all the characters. I'm rolling my eyes several times an episode. I've made it halfway through episode six and I may not finish the show because it's kind of painful to watch. I was giving it a shot hoping that the characters would grow up as the show progressed but it doesn't seem that way. Currently I have no attachment to any of the characters because they aren't very likable. I started watching because of the good reviews but I question their authenticity now. It's not a terrible show but it's not very good either. It definitely doesn't deserve a rating as high as it it.

*Edit* I tried to finish episode six but couldn't. I stopped watching it after too many lame jokes. If you stop watching halfway through the first episode to come read some reviews (like I did). Fair warning, it doesn't get better like I thought!

It was okay.
8 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I had higher hopes for this movie, but not from the trailers, I just had faith in the MCU. I guess that faith was misplaced somewhat. This movie is alright, not terrible, and not terrific.... mainly it just lacked excitement, character development, and heart. It felt kind of emotionless, like Vers being told to keep her emotions in check or the guy on the bike telling her to smile...maybe she should have tried feeling some emotions in this movie. A couple of whoo's when blowing up something up isn't the emotional excitement we want! I feel that they tried to make Captain Marvel tough at the expense of making her kinda blah. She had some one liners that were okay and some that were kind of corney. Some of the humor got a chuckle from me but not much more. Sam Jackson was fun, Coulson was barely in it but his part was fine. The yahoo moments were kind of meh and the finale was anti-climactic. Also, it seemed they intentionally went out of there way to emphasize her being a woman instead of her being a human. What is that about? And I don't know about you but if I found out that the team I'd been working with for 6 years, who we relied on to keep each other safe, was lying to me the whole time, there might be a little more emotional baggage there. This movie made her team seem like coworkers she barely knew so when she found out they were lying to her it was no big deal to break ties with them. In all honesty, the movie probably ranks about 5.5 out of 10.

Franchise Killer!
6 December 2018
I hated this movie with a passion. It feel like its a bunch of millennial brats running around on spaceship half cocked and not thinking anything through. What I liked about Star Trek TOS was that Captain Kirk could outsmart his enemy and fight when needed. Now Star Trek has been dumbed down. It's all run, shoot, run more, get shot at, do a trick, get tips from the future (cheats from the future Spock). As long as there are special effects, nothing else matters I guess. Oh and don't worry, no actual crew members have an original thought. "Oh you need the mathematical equation for transporting during warp, sure thing" says future Spock. "Anytime you guys are in a jam just call me up and I'll solve all your problems for you!" Then the ending was horrible with the switch they did. God that irked me like no other. I watched this movie in the theater and it turned me off from watching the 3rd movie in this new franchise and I've watch all the TV shows:TOS, TNG, Deep Space 9, Voyager, etc as well as all the other movies. This movie ruined the franchise for me, that's how bad it is.
