Hamilton (2020)
It's great
The show itself is fantastic and it lives up to all the hype its been getting for five years. I've been listening to the music for years but I've never been able to afford going to the actual show so I'm really happy that it's more accessible now.
The choreography is fantastic. All the dances are so seamless and the dancers are incredibly talented and skilled. The main cast members are all fantastic. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a perfect charismatic and witty Hamilton but the real star of the show in my opinion is Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr. His voice is so beautiful and he has amazing vocal range. I love all the music as I previously stated, but the performances add a lot of emotion and meaning to those songs.
My only issue has nothing to do with the show itself and is more of a personal preference. I didn't like how they tried to replicate the Broadway experience. I just wanted to watch Hamilton but there's like an annoying laugh track since they filmed this with an audience. Overall, it's definitely worth a watch, even if the three hour run time scares you .
Okja (2017)
Bong Joon-Ho proves once again that he was put on this planet to make movies.
Okja is easily one of the best films of 2017. The story and plot of this film are not very original however, Bong is able to bring a style and direction to this film which is unmatched by most filmmakers working today. He creates interesting characters with unique backstories. Gyllenhaal's character, being a washed up wildlife show host, and Tilda Swinton's character, being some sort of spoiled rich girl who's enveloped by the illusion of power, are my two favorite.
The film maintains a fast pace and even the most ansty of viewers will remain glued to their seats. Just like Bong's recent academy-award winning film, Parasite, I think anyone can find something to enjoy in Okja. The film is also beautiful. Okja has a 50 million dollar budget but it looks like a 200 million dollar movie. The CGI on Okja herself looks quite realistic and there are great set-pieces for large action scenes.
My biggest issue with the film is its familiarity. I've seen this story told so many times but Bong is able to bring something different to a very typical save the animals kinda film. Okja does not compare to Bong's foreign language films but it's definitely a great, crowd-pleasing movie and its one of my favorite movies of 2017.
Eric Andre: Legalize Everything (2020)
I exhaled out of my nose a few times
I love the Eric Andre Show but this wasn't my cup of tea. I'm not really the biggest fan of these Netflix comedy specials and I felt that this one was pretty average. There's none of the outlandish humor Eric Andre is known for and this felt quite juvenile even for Eric Andre's standards. If you're a fan of the show I can't say you'd like this that much. If you enjoy being bombarded with jokes about weed and lsd, I'm sure you'd enjoy.

Watchmen (2019)
Glimpses of greatness
Watchmen is a show that leaves its viewers banging their heads against walls. There are many interesting characters and story arcs but they're ultimately overshadowed by a confusing and overly ambitious narrative.
This feels like five seasons of a TV show crammed into nine episodes. So many important plot points are just glossed over. For example, episode six culminates with an ending that shows the Cyclops have found out how to use hypnosis. Will Reaves uses this power to get Crawford to hang himself. This is the only time this major plot point is mentioned for the remainder of the show. There are other small instances of this. Why is Night connected to an elephant? What is the significance of the horseshoe? These questions were most likely to be expanded upon in season 2 but given the show's viewership, I doubt that'll be happening.
Lady Trieu is a blatant copy of Whiterose from Mr. Robot, a show that is miles better than this one. Whiterose and Lady Trieu are both obsessed with time, have little children conduct interviews for them, trillionaires, and work on ambiguous machines that they claim will save humanity. They even both have interviews with people in front of a blue beta fish! It's really crazy how much was stolen from Mr. Robot.
The production design of this show is INSANE. It's one of the most expensive shows ever made and it certainly shows. This feels like a nine hour long huge, expensive blockbuster. There are really cool stylized scenes and locations. The entire portion where Night sees Reaves point of view in black in white is a highlight of the show. The portions of the show with the Minutemen are really cool in general.
Watchmen is a confusing show which takes away from the show. But the overall fantastic production design and compelling characters makes me not able to give this a negative review.
