The Card Counter (2021)
I wanted to like it
It's boring, kind of flat. Decent acting, but nothing special and the script needed help. I'm surprised Scorsese was part of this project. The ending was surprising, but not great. I know it's supposed to be "deep" but it wasn't entertaining.
SPOILER: The main character had previously served time in a military prison and was now a free man. At the end of the movie he commits a crime against another civilian in the civilian world. Yet he ends up in the same military prison where he served before. That's not how it works.
Catch the Bullet (2021)
Where to start? Bad
It's not often I agree with so many reviews. Right away I noticed the brand new spotless clothes and holsters. And bad acting. I figured I could put up with that if it had a great story - nope. Instead of sympathy for the kidnapped kid I thought he was annoying. Weak script, cliches. Hard not to laugh during a a dramatic dying scene. Very modern doors and architecture on an old west house.
