Ersan Kuneri (2022)
The Most Perfect Satire of Turkish Drama Industry
You know, there is such a thing as cultural power. This cultural hegemony is in the hands of a group that defines itself as "Leftist" in Turkey. These leftists are not leftists in the classical sense. They only introduce themselves in this way in the Turkish public. They are not like that, because they do not allow any class that does not resemble them to breathe. They are not leftists in the classical sense, they have created a cinema industry based on labor exploitation. They plug in filmmakers, musicians and writers who don't think like them, and keep them away from this power zone as long as they hold the power. - Just because they don't think like them -
In this series, Cem Yilmaz satirizes this audience in a way that has never been seen before in Turkish art history. In fact, the series is an extraordinary work that contains incredible metaphors and humorously criticizes nonsense from almost every "political" segment. Very brave. And as expected, after this bold move, the holders of Cultural hegemony accused him of "not being as funny as he used to be".
This crowd, who define themselves as "Leftists" and constantly talk about freedoms, blames Cem Yilmaz, who criticizes them in a humorous way. Love films of the 60s, detective and superhero films of the 70s, so-called socialist films of the 80s, music-based films called "Arabesque" that influenced Turkey's 80s, religious films of the 90s... I recommend you to watch this excellent series, which criticizes everything by highlighting its absurdity, and keeps the comedy at its peak while criticizing.
Medená veza (1970)
a hidden gem from central europe.
The actors of the movie, especially the actress,Emilia Vasaryova, is a really good actress. Even in very difficult scenes, even when you have a cliché expectation of acting, she knows how to master this challenge.
It's a hot movie, pretty well constructed movie with dynamic camera flow for its time. Although it progresses monotonously from time to time, it has a side that arouses curiosity in general and adorns watchers with its story.
It's a mountain film and according to director Martin Holly, it was very hard to shoot that film because of the fog. Anyway, this movie is really wait to be discovered and if that movie was in english language, probably it would be a classic.
Otobüs (1975)
Great movie with stunning soundtracks!
A superb movie about Turkish people who wants to go Germany for better life conditions. They agreed a man for that, but man drive the bus to Stockholm and left them middle of Stockholm. OST from Zulfu Livaneli, great Turkish musician. This is the Drama of Anatolia. You can see what is cultural shock... This movie a part of Tunc Okan's Trilogy about "Gurbetci"(one living away from home. guest worker) (Other films are Cumartesi Cumartesi and Sari Mercedes) Cumartesi Cumartesi about Turkish people abroad, and Sari Mercedes about a people who wants to return Turkey from Europe.
Going, Living, Returning. harder than each other.
Well, you must see this movie!
PS: This movie was forbidden in turkey after first release.
