Glass (2019)
Actual Trash
I've decided to give this movie two stars based entirely on two merits.
The first being James McAvoy's performance. He is stellar for every side of Kevin's personality that he plays, and the character deserves to be in a movie better than this.
The second being the scene where David Dunn drowns in a pot hole in the middle of the parking lot. It was easily the hardest I had ever laughed in a movie theatre. The scene had an over-the-top ridiculousness that you do need to see it to believe it, as I had done.
Past that, the movie is rather boring. Everything feels incredibly slow, uninspired, uninteresting, and drab.
I'm glad I used free passes to see this one, because I don't plan on paying for it in the near future.
Roar (1981)
The Real CGI Lion King
Look, I'm gonna be honest with you...
This movie is insane.
Everybody involved in the production of this movie had better been paid very well for their involvement in this masterpiece. No other film that I can currently think of comes close to the level of insanity that this movie is on. A film that truly would not have been released in current year, but I'm glad I was able to get my hands on a copy.
I imagine a script of this film exists with a completely different plot, but the apparent primal nature of the animals in this film bring the film itself on it's own course. As it stands, the film is about characters, who are played by actors, but the actors are trying to survive and maintain composure next to 300kg wild cats. It's like Jackass if Jackass was dangerous.
When I first got my hands on my copy of Roar, I watched it three times in a row. I dragged my mother into the living room just so she could experience this cinematic marvel for herself. Both of us agreed that we had seen nothing like it. And that's just not going on the droning point of LIVE AND DEADLY CATS GETTING READY TO POUNCE ON ACTORS THE ENTIRE MOVIE, it's also going on the way it's beautifully shot. They say every frame's a painting, and there are several frames from this film I'd gladly display as a work of art in my home.
The only negative thing I'd have to say about this movie is that there are parts that drag on a little too long (Like this review). That's not to say they aren't entertaining scenes, but I personally felt like the scenes in question could've been shortened instead of trying to pad out the run time.
Overall, this is a 7/10 movie, and you should check this one out if you want to see what it's like for two tigers to sink a boat and consistently fight over a man's jacket.
