Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967)
Terrible
I bought this movie for a dollar. My wife and I looked forward to watching it so we put it last Saturday afternoon. About 40 minutes into the movie we looked at each other and agreed to fast forward to see what else happens. Didn't help. The movie made no sense. For the quality of actors and actresses in this movie none of them were any good. Not their fault - the directors fault. The dumbest scenes were the elevators scenes where they had to dance to get the elevator to move. Come on. Really? Mary Tyler Moore's part was a shocker to me because she normally chooses good movies to star in and she blew it with this one. The dance numbers were no good. I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone to watch. Glad I only spent a buck.
Yes Man (2008)
Comedy Not What It Used To Be
When Jerry Lewis died Jim Carrey wrote that because of Jerry Lewis he is the comedian he is today. Jerry Lewis was part of a group of comedians who knew how to make you laugh. Your entire family could enjoy a good comedy skit or movie together. Today these comedian-wannabes don't know how to make a person laugh without including trash in their routine. The true comedians of Jerry Lewis's era didn't use profanity, make useless sex jokes, jab at public officials in order to put them down and make them look stupid in public. Don Rickles always made sure if he picked on anyone they could walk away feeling good about themselves and not be offended. All those comedians - Lewis, Rickles, Hope, Kaye, Benny, Martin, Skelton, etc - they didn't use trash talk comedians use today. Any of today's comedians who say they learned from the masters are lying. Comedians today inject their personal religious beliefs or personal political left-wing beliefs in their routine forcing paying customers to listen to them when it's no one else's business what the comedian believes or thinks. Jim Carrey made about 5 or 6 movies I liked and have. This movie "Yes Man" turned me completely against Jim Carrey because of the scene where a grandmother gave him a blow job. You didn't see the act but you knew what was going on. That was disgusting. Sorry Jim Carrey but you are not funny anymore and not worth the price of a ticket to see any of your trash! No comedian in this day and age is worth it.
Any Given Sunday (1999)
Movie Comment
I bought this movie for a $1 and it wasn't even worth that. I read a reviewer's comment that people were either going to love this movie or hate it and I fall in the haters. Once I had watched the whole movie I felt I needed a shower. All the acting was bad. This movie made like all football players did outside of playing was snorting cocaine and taking other drugs; having sex with any woman who was willing; and drinking all the time. Dennis Quaid looked like he was ready to burst into tears any time. What really shocked me was Charlton Heston's being involved with this sorry trash heap of a movie. He must have been desperate for money at the time. I was proud to read though that NFL would not let those who made this movie use the NFL logo. I don't blame them - I would want to be associated with trash either.
Scorchy (1976)
Bad Movie
I remember seeing this movie when it first came out. I got in free because the friend I went with knew the manager of the theater. At least I didn't waste any money. This movie was bad. I remember at least three nude scenes with Connie Stevens. There was the shower scene while her date waited on her. Then her swimming in the canal behind her home. She dove in, looked around and when no one was around, she takes off her bikini. Then her making love with the date. I also remember her being extremely foul mouthed in this one. The only reason I can think of for her making this movie was to try to change her image from a squeaky clean beach girl to someone who she really was not. I think after Scorchy, she made some movies but most of them were teen oriented movies with little objectionable material. I think Scorchy backfired on her and sunk her career. She has made many movies that were way better than this thing and that is not saying much.
