JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass (2021)
This is such an amazing documentary
This movie should be shown at school to every American citizen.
The CIA should be reformed.
This documentary is a tremendous work of investigation.
Even the most obvious evidences are not changing this country which cannot self criticize. This arrogance leads to what is happening now, these infinite wars throughout the world, the assassinations, the drones killing of civilians.
When the American people will stand up and say it is enough?
Imperial Blue (2019)
Utterly boring to watch, but some interesting ideas.
This movie has nothing extraordinary, and I suspect that the 10/10 reviews are from the production themselves.
Otherwise, there are some really good ideas, and the the choice of location is great. You get some nice place specially in India and Uganda.
The main problem is that once the movie pass 30 min, the story goes all other the place, the main character seems to act randomly and the narration get lost in long and boring non senses.
The movie stop becoming interesting and it is hard to reach the end without suffering off boredom.
The director needs to manage the tempo of his movie to keep the interest of the viewer. Having beautiful scenery is not enough.
The storytelling in this movie is pretty bad.
Lo imposible (2012)
Where are the true heroes?
I have found this movie borderline insulting to the Thai people.
While all the story is focused on the lucky ones, the American wealthy family who did not lost anyone, but spend the whole movie crying and talking beautiful sentences, they end up flying to Singapore thanks to their insurance, to get a better care.
The movie suggest that the Thai people weren't taking a good care of the mother, and worse they made mistakes like switching identity with a dead person...
Some hospital in Thailand are ranked in the top 10 best of the world, where none Spanish hospital are ranked in the top 100!!
What a slap in the face for the Thai people who lost their families, to the ones, the doctors, the nurses who worked days and night to save these selfish tourists.
Then doing a movie where they are invisible and insulted.
2* because there is 2 minutes tsunami visuals well done, and the actors are all doing a great performance.
This movie is happening in Thailand. Where are the Thai people? More respect and dignity would have been better.
But the foreigners are still doing movies where they are the center of the action, and the sub humans locals are just driving cars and doing mistakes.
I have lived in Thailand 10 years and these people deserved more than figuration...
After the Wave (2014)
Extremely well done
From the interviews to the images of the tsunami, this movie truly nailed it. They interviewed the victims, the forensic specialists but also the Thai officials so you get the point of view of everyone involved. It is not only about the forensic investigation, but it also describes the aftermath in great detail and how the survivors had to cope with their loss. I though that it will be depressing to watch, but not, it shows the best of humanity, these people who worked restlessly to help. It is a good watch for anyone who want to remember this tsunami or who want to have a different angle to this tragedy. The documentary is very interesting to see, you get hooked from the start to the end by the emotion.
The Wave I Ride (2015)
Enjoyable but lack of content.
The documentary is mainly about Paige Alms a woman big wave surfer. All what is filmed about this woman and her friends, is about her life in Hawaï.
While it is enjoyable to watch because these people have a great life fuelled with passion and are talking very well about themselves, the film is lacking of big wave surfing, which is mainly why you would watch this in the first place.
There is maybe 15 min of surfing and the rest is blah blah blah.
If you like surf and this kind of lifestyle, you will like this movie, it is quite intimate, sometime feeling like if you are looking at a family movie.
Otherwise if you are expecting a lot of huge waves in different spots of the world, this movie is mostly only talking about it, and there is a lack of content. At the end, you get some nice waves and you can feel that this was the work of someone passionate by the subject.
Do not expect too much, but sit and enjoy a good relaxing moment, looking some cool people living the dream.
The Big Wave Project (2017)
Simply the best Big Waves movie
I don't understand how someone could rate this movie 1 *
They shooted in maybe 10 different locations, with drones and the images are breathtaking.
Each wave is unique and you can see the huge difference between Hawaï and Portugal for instance.
The surfers are not philosophes, they talk about their feeling, their fear and their passion.
For me it is the best and the reference movie about big wave surfing.
If you like huge waves, and beautiful cinematography, this film is the right choice. On a 4k screen, you won't believe the beauty and the scare.
These surfers are totally crazy to surf these monsters!!!
