Make Marvel Cool Again
1 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Remember when Iron Man landed to ACDC music? Remember when Hulk destroyed a tower block? Remember when the Avengers had to go up against Thanos? Epic moments that define the MCU.

Now look ahead to phase 4 of the MCU and this show absolutely scrapes the bottom of the barrell. Seing a PS3 model of She-hulk twerking with Megan Thee Stallion? What is this? Who is it for?

It's not funny, adds nothing to the overall MCU and but squeezes in all the social justice nonsense that's turning people away from Hollywood to either output from Korea or video games.

Nothing from Marvel feels special anymore. Perhaps I'm too old for all this now?

It's just content for content sake

Continues Disney's hurrendous track record with Star Wars.

Many things simply just don't make sense. Hurrendous dialogue and (if this makes sense) vertically challenged?

Oh well. Better get excited for next product.

Edit; after subsequent episodes I've revised to a one star.

Jokes are funny

His best special to date imo. Nothing off-limits and the fact he has to repeatedly explain what a joke is throughout makes you realise why we're in such a hostile society right now.

Jumping off the MCU ride...
7 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Despise this movie and all of the Disney+ era shows and movies (aka phase 4)

Retcons all the stakes and triumphs of the early movies. (Look at Loki with the paperweight infinity stones)

This movie falls in the same trap as SW episode 9 in throwing so much at you in one go and hoping you question nothing. Everything can be described aways as the multiverse.

America Chavez was a personality void.

Humor is also some of the worst of the MCU so far. Franchise seems reliant on memberberries and cameos.

Guy Ritchie returning to this roots
13 March 2022
Loved this. Nice twisting story with superb performances from all. Editing reminded me of Edgar Wright.

Compared to some of the Hollywood filler Ritchie has put out in recent years, this is a return to form.

Way too long to have the impact it intended
5 March 2022
Pattinson played Batman well but not so much Bruce Wayne. The movie didn't have to be this long and often repeated itself (door scene with the twins happens 3 or 4 times IIRC).

Some stunning cinematography. Score was so-so but had big boots to fill.

Worth seeing in the cinema as the length of this will not work well on a streaming platform.

Counterproductive

There's nothing smart about how they went about promoting this. Any real world lessons are undermined by its horrific tone which will damage any message of merit. Racism is racism.

Painfully dull and vanilla
13 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A film designed entirely to simply fulfill the search request when you type in Alyssa Milano.

A very predictable plot and some rather wooden performances makes this a skip. If you do watch, I'd suggest watching at 1.5x.

Paint by numbers police mystery. The villain isn't even interesting.

Pretty good albeit everything wrong with Hollywood
2 January 2022
Good CG and gave me a good old nostalgia dopamine hit but it's not the high art some are describing here.

Given this is one of the few success of the pandemic I suspect we're in for more trips down memory lane in leui of some original ideas. Oh well.

A gem

Very late watching but still holds up (mostly) all these years later. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Superb.

Painfully unfunny and a story cul-de-sac
22 January 2021
There's probably about 2 minutes of actual content in each episode that matters.

I don't quite get everyone preaching it's genius. It's surface level stuff with it just mimmicking sitcoms from the era but the difference is they were funny.

Don't understand the hype.

Not worth catching COVID-19 for
16 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The review scores and review content from critics seems to be disconnected but I instantly digress.

This movie was a mess from start to finish with a ridiculous plot device that could only send it down a road that makes it nonsensical. Gal Gadot is excellent in her role but Kristen Wigg had the same trajectory as she did in Paul (except she didn't end up turning into a cat in Paul - someone needs to explain to me how this happened anyway).

On the flipside, there was some very visually spectacular scenes, some solid sound and excellent score by Hans Zimmer.

Just awful
27 April 2020
Having now rewatched I'm just lost for words. Nothing makes sense and it's left to fan theories to even attempt to make the trilogy coherent.

Visual noise that leads to nothing that leads to nothing.

Episode 3 it picks up
12 September 2019
I'm 100% behind most of these reviews when only applied to the first two episodes.

Beyond episode 3, however, is a nice sci-fi plot reminiscent of Black Mirror. Stick with it sci-fi fans and to Netflix, actually make good pilots!
