Watchmen (2009)
Watchmen Ultimate cut
There are a few things about the film that bothered me, such as making dr Manhattan the blame for the destruction of NYC, when they could've still had the giant hybrid squid. And with more time and resources, zack Snyder definitely could've made a definitive adaptation of Watchmen. But what we do have is still good on its own merits. I will say that the theatrical cut Did not give this film the credit it deserves, but the closest of a definitive adaptation of Watchmen we'll ever get is the Watchmen Ultimate Cut, where it's not only the directors cut, but more additional scenes , and the animated short of tales of the black freighter, which is actually a great addition to the cut, because the story within the story is pivotal to the theme and story. I do like that the two Bernards were added in the cut as well, and that it gave a really great feeling of a loyalty to the source material, if only the detectives and doctor malcolm's stories stayed. But it all blends well, and despite some minor changes and a few rushed lines or two, this is definitely worth the watch, if you're willing to spare the 3 hours and 30 minutes of your time, which I definitely am. So in short, theatrical cut dud, director's cut good, Ultimate Cut DEFINITIVE WATCHMEN EXPERIENCE.
