Of course everything with an uplifting theme is put down by leftists on this site, so reviews here always have to be taken with a grain of salt and read with the realization that negative reviews are usually about not being able to see movies with an open mind. It's sad that it's so complicated to analyze the pure numbers here, but I don't imagine there is any way to fix that. The left hates pro religion, pro military, and pro uplifting movies, whereas conservatives tend to appreciate those themes. So the average movie rating here really means nothing for any of those types of movies.
That said, this is a terrific film. Well written, well directed, and well acted. God bless America, and I imagine that will offend many as well.

Cimarron

In it's day it was probably an epic

Too many reviews here seem to forget that these early movies need to be compared to their competition of the day, not with the greats that we've become accustomed to more recently. Of course it's not Unforgiven, or Open Range, or Dances With Wolves, but in 1931 I can see how this could have been considered an epic. My rating is based on that.

If only...

I really wanted to like this, but other than visually, there wasn't much to appreciate. A stronger storyline would have been nice.
It does however inspire me to visit the area and look into the history, but I wish the movie itself had told me more.
Kudos for the effort.

John Ford: The Man Who Invented America
(2019 TV Movie)
Who needs the outsider's opinions

I enjoyed the film footage, and the interviews with Ford, if for no other reason than they revealed his personality, but who needs the opinions of all of the other people that are totally irrelevant. That's what brought my rating down to a 5. And why on earth bring politics into this documentary about a director? Give us a break.
The Clock

My new favorite love story

I hadn't even heard of this movie until TCM showed it recently, and it touched every button. For me, this is Judy's second best performance of her career, and at such a young age. Granted, it is after The Wizard of Oz, but her acting skills are definitely on display here. Maybe Minnelli brought it out of her, but the writing was also very effective. It's flawless.
Stan & Ollie

Amazing performances

60 seconds into the movie I forgot that I was watching actors portraying the famous duo. Both of the starring performances are incredible and they maintained the quality through the entire movie. They should have both been Oscar nominees.
Those who complain that the movie wasn't funny enough have missed the point. It's not a movie about their comedies, it's about them and their relationship.

Excellent thriller

Don't believe the negative reviews by the lefties who hate any pro military movies. It's a good mix of action, technology, drama and suspense.
Unfortunately, pro military and pro religion movie reviews on IMDB always need to be read between the lines.
Politics have infected movie reviews. SAD!
