Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Cheap Unauthentic Money Maker for Sony
This movie has almost nothing going for it. The acting is laughable, the plot holes are immense, the CGI is mediocre (and honestly worse than the original in the Toby movies). Also, Venom is more of a spouse than he is a villainous monster symbiote. This may be the most forgettable film I have ever watched.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
recommend for a quick watch
This movie had so much potential but just couldn't handle it and finish. The costume designs were tacky, the acting of the main actor and everyone else was really mediocre-bad, and the ending was trash. But the fight scenes were cool, some of the cgi was nice, and it was just a fun to watch. I recommend watching it but its a movie that's gonna be lost away in the tombs of time in like 5 years. A lot of mixed feelings towards this movie, hopefully the sequel they set up so much comes out better and also fixes the cgi of raiden's eyes.
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
No regrets
Bad acting, mediocre CGI, predictable plot, but Nicolas Cage doesn't say a single word and just goes John Wick on evil robots so its definitely worth a watch sometime.
Guns Akimbo (2019)
Quick Watch Recommended
A fun movie to watch for adults. Its like watching a video game story unfold but with crazy harry potter inserted. Nothing too deep, but lots of explosive action and witty untimely jokes.
The Matrix (1999)
Set the standard for a lot of things
A perfect blend of action, sci-fi, drama, and a great connection to whats actually going on in the real world. Spawned the phrase of taking the red pill which is now known as waking up to whats going on around us. Great acting all around, some dull parts here and there, the fight scenes could have been a little narrowed down but still a unique idea and greatly executed, a classic.
Uncut Gems (2019)
Be prepared to pause a lot to collect yourself.
A roller coaster of emotions is to say the least. Adam Sandler puts on a great dramatic performance with a plot that could be explained a bit better but follows through with a climax of emotions. An anxiety and stressful movie that may make you wanna pause a few times still delivers an enjoyable experience with a unique story.
1917 (2019)
Almost perfect.
Complete movie with action, comedy, and drama but lacked a fulfilling ending. The style of a one take camera that followed the two boys around was interesting and made the personal connection between the characters and audience enjoyable. Action seemed realistic and not too over the top. Just wish the ending was better.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Must watch for BB fans
A great ending to an ever better show. Entertaining, seat-clenching, and nostalgic. Aaron Paul did an amazing job on this and Vince Gilligan stayed true to his writing.
Good Boys (2019)
Reminds me of my childhood
Great funny movie with pretty good young acting. Accurately portrays young adolescence life in a good time span. Comedy is perfectly rated R.
The Happytime Murders (2018)
Progressively gets better but still fails at all aspects.
Bad acting with a basic plot. Puppet idea doesn't come through very good. Ended better than it started. Had some funny lines here and there.
Bad Teacher (2011)
Don't expect a great story but there are plenty of laughs.
Was enjoyable and actually pretty funny. Plot was bad though.
Knives Out (2019)
A blast to watch
Great acting, great cast, fun at all angles. You think you know what's going on but then it flips on you. Daniel Craig was a blast if you love Sherlock Holmes and Chris Evans adds a lil spice to the mix up.
Shin Gojira (2016)
Maybe the most realistic scenario of Godzilla ever but watch in Japanese!
Not like any movie I've seen before. Shin Godzilla brings back the God in a refreshing terrifying way that is very different than Hollywood action movies. The film is mainly centered around nationalism and a country coming together to defeat a enemy while also using their past as a guide. The special effects are still a long ways away from Hollywood but acceptable once you get into the movie. IMO I really don't like Godzilla movements and it's body posture as they seem too stiff and toy like, this excludes his first form which is very reptilian and terrifying. I do regret watching this movie in English dub because the acting was very poor but I cannot speak for the original version. I wish there was more lore and backstory in the film but I guess we have seen that enough for Godzilla so it's not much of an issue. Overall the film brings a lot of good things to the table for future Japanese Godzilla cinematics.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
Long live the king
This movie is really fun and the actions in it are insane but the plot seemed to be "too" heroic at certain points which caused unnecessary and overdramatic deaths. The lore and history between all the monsters are introduced which makes it fun to think about and leads a case for new movies. I recommend for a fun watch and a necessary one in the Monsterverse series.
Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Kong approved
Fun movie with lots of good names, Larson & Hiddleston played their roles great. No main character is really dug into depth here with lots of development, the movie is mostly focused on the action. But it's a great sequel for the Monsterverse line to have. A fun watch with a lot more tragedy than you would expect.
Godzilla (2014)
If you want action you came to the right place
I will say the beginning of the film seemed to be the start of something you didn't expect. I was waiting anxiously for the star of the film to appear every second so I wish it didn't take so long but I do understand. Overall the movie is action packed to the max with of course monsters fighting each other and heroic scenes everywhere. But the acting was great with the help of Cranston & Olsen and the plot didn't seem to go all over the place, it was well thought out. Godzilla also seemed to look as good as he could without being silly or over the top too much. I can positively say I had a great time experiencing this film.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011)
Better than we deserved
I can't explain how rewarding this film is. Since the first HP we have seen a whole universe of people and plot expand in front of our eyes and the outcome we've all been waiting for fulfills its promise. Every part of this film (maybe except the odd ending) is amazing. The CGI, the acting, the plot twists, the emotion, the betrayal, the everything is just fantastic. Truly a masterpiece, the worst part of it all is that its the end of the series but don't be sad its over, smile because it happened.
Drive (2011)
Gosling makes this movie a masterpiece
First off, Ryan Gosling absolutely killed his role from every aspect he murdered it. From it's very subtle action scenes to its crazy ones, there was nothing unrealistic or too over the edge with the fight scenes which made them perfect. You can see how Gosling changes throughout the film from them also. The plot was kept simple but still great and kept you on your seat. Overall I love the mood and acting of this movie and completely recommend it, only thing I don't admire is it's weird soundtrack.
Aquaman (2018)
Stated poorly but ended great
The movie started off with a lot of cringey scenes and dialogue with a pretty basic superhero introduction. But once it got started Jason became a very likeable and bad ass character that flowed smoothly throughout the plot. The action and fighting scenes were absolutely astonishing and the CGI wasn't too bad once you got used to it. Acting was great and it ended with more left to come.
Shazam! (2019)
Lot to be desired
Live action cross over between demon Ghostbuster monsters and glorified Power rangers. Shazam is nothing to get excited for, a fun and comedic movie with improved CGI but lack of seriousness and plot holes in the DCEU (where are all the superheroes????).
Bumblebee (2018)
Fun but rushed
The beginning looked like it came out of a toy commercial and was really corny but after that it followed in the steps of any sci-fi hero action movie and was very enjoyable. Action scenes were good, although Bumblebee seemed to wait too long until he decided he could fight. Maybe a little too rushed also, wouldn't have mind if they made it 2hr and implemented more plot.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Just Getting Started
A lot of things I liked and a lot I didn't. The child acting was amazing and the CGI was actually really good for the time. Some other acting though was very questionable and some very rushed scenes with open questions to the plot. All in all though a fun movie that sets up a lot more to come.
Bo Burnham: Make Happy (2016)
Are you happy? If not watch this.
Never would I think such a unfiltered "offensive" comedy show could make me so emotional and reminiscent, but not sure what of. Bo is a genius in his satire, comedy, story-telling, wordplay, performance, energy and all of the above. You can see how creative he is but in this show he relates his over-the-top skits to something more real. This show comes close to being perfect not just for laughs but to feel something, you come for the gut-wrenching humor but leave with tears.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
A filler movie yet still entertaining
Good movie but its mostly a filler, setting up for the final two. The scenes are very emotional though and cant help but bring a tear to your eye.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
The most emotional and action packed HP movie yet
The series just gets better and better. The most emotional and action packed HP movie yet. The character development is astonishing with amazing CGI and acting. Truly a masterpiece of fictional film.
