Archer (2009)
Legendary comedy
Archer has a type of comedy that is unique. The use of pauses is one of the most brilliant things in this show. The comedic effect simply multiplies due to the timely pauses and the gaps. It makes everything so much funnier.
Archer as a character is complete. Usually arrogant, pompous and selfish but there are moments where he shows emotion and those are gems and always memorable. The voice acting is one of the best there is from any show our there.
The side charactera are all soo interesting. Each and everyone of them has a good story and can stand tall with Archer as a character.
PS - look out for the expressions. The beauty is in the details.
South Park: Stunning and Brave (2015)
Work of art
I'm rewatching Southpark and this episode is one of the best right up there with Black Friday, Trapped in the closet, Fishsticks etc. There are a lot of episodes that Matt and Trey do just because they find it funny and probably 90% of the world won't relate to but this isnt one of them.
This episode is brilliant and the introduction of PC principal is epic. We also have a Randy side act which always makes for an epic episode. If you read some of the reviews from 2015 a few people seem to feel they went overboard and it was an overreaction. But the theme of the episode stands true to this day and probably for the next couple of years. This isn't just an American issue either and it can resonate with people all across the world.
Apart from making a point this episode is just simply funny and has a few of best of scenes of the series.
Hungry Heart: Wild Striker (2002)
One of the best anime ever
I rewatched this anime after I first saw it as a kid. It's childish in parts but as an overall experience there are few sports anime that can come near this one. Hungry heart starts out as a story about a school kid who is a delinquent but also has a great football instincts. The story revolves around him being compared to his elder brother who is a young star for AC Milan and him not being able to show that ability. Although it's a sports anime, it's so much more that limiting it to just football is simply wrong. Coping with family issues, love, setbacks it really has everything. The ending was simply poetic to put it best. It was emotional and i loved it and I hated it too. I loved it because it went against the grain and there are few things that surprise me in an anime ending, you usually know where it's going but this was different. I hated it simply because I was left wanting more. Its unfinished and that's not a sly on the anime but just the fact there are just 52 episodes. Not to mention the soundtracks are beautiful and will give you goosebumps. If you can look over the bad animation I'm certain you'll enjoy this.
Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019)
Can't get enough
Brilliant story line. Insane characters and crazy fight scenes. Although the hero is the stereotypical good natured guy who wants to help everyone and save people there's so much more to it. Each character is unique and adds superbly to the storyline. The animation is simply next level and I havent watched any anime come near it. It feels like its even got better in season 3 which is such a treat. The voice actors are very true to the characters and the dialogues will fill you with emotion and adrenaline. The anime isn't shy of blood shed either and there is a proper balance without them going overboard on it. Everything about this anime feels just about right and I hope they continue on the same lines because If it does I'm pretty sure this will be an all time great Anime.
Black Clover (2017)
Great start but disappointing drop
Disclaimer I'm at episode 150.
The start was very good. It follows a typical anime story line with Asta as the underdog who works hard and gets rewards. There are tournaments and love interests and a lot of interesting characters. Although the story line was typical and followed a trend where anyone who has watched anime would be able to predict what's going to happen, I was still hooked and binged watched it religiously. It was fun to watch and i would advise to watch the dub because the Japanese voice actor is simply too annoying. I believe Asta's voice is true to his character but honestly the screaming in Japanese gave me a headache. The English dub is way better. Coming back to the series, the initial arc is very good and was fun. However the drop from Royal knights arc was just insane. Every episode was lifeless and the character of the Devil was simply too boring. I can't believe they gave him like 3 moves and he looked so weak (almost a rip off Ryok from Death note) Even the revival of the first Wizard king could have been more interesting but simply put it was a bore. I'm just watching it coz I'm in too deep. There are only a few fillers so far but even the episodes that are not supposed to be fillers have that energy. This anime could've been way better.
Modern Love Mumbai (2022)
Pathetic
The acting is pathetic, the stories are pathetic. Just pure fantasy garbage. Im sure there is a crowd for stuff like this who think its cool coz it relates to the NY Times modern love but i struggle to imagine how people are funding this? Its like Tik tok or instagram, just put out content and thats enough. There's no filter on this gutter. And of course if you read the newspaper/ online reviews they are all raving about this. And thats simply the game. Buy ratings, get something people will 'feel' is cool without caring about the story or acting.
