About Time (2013)
Maybe a flawed movie but I don't really care
I love this movie. I just watched it again, and it's gotten better each time. The time travel stuff brings in some really interesting elements which can get weird if you get caught up in the details, but really it's a movie about love and family. It makes me think about what matters in life and how to live each day to the fullest. It's a beautiful story, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
WandaVision (2021)
How do so many people enjoy this?
I don't know if I have ever hated a show as much as I hate WandaVision. I can't stand laugh tracks. I really don't like the MCU in general. I hate old sitcoms. To be honest I don't think I ever had a chance with this show. I find it cheesy, boring, and straight up painful to watch. Several of the characters are downright annoying, and the plot is beyond confusing. It's the kind of show that requires a ton of knowledge about comic books (which I don't like) or spending hours watching all the MCU movies and reading conspiracy theories online about whether there will be 9 or 10 episodes. Who has time for that crap? Honestly, the fact that Disney can successfully convince an entire generation of people to gobble up another trash series just by dragging it out for suspense and throwing fanfare at it speaks to the cunning marketing of the company. Or maybe it just means people are sheep. Either way, if you love Marvel, comics, and old sitcoms, then this is a very elaborate and well put together show that you will love. I can respect that. But for the vast majority of viewers who have been obsessively raving about this show, what are you doing?? I guess I just don't like to be told what to think.
The Reagans (2020)
Calm down, everyone
I thought this was a very well made, interesting, and informative documentary. I think it's important to look deeper at powerful public figures, especially those who are revered as much as Reagan. It's disappointing to me to see so many people angry about this, calling it left wing propaganda and defamation. It's not. If you can't watch a well made documentary and make your own conclusions without getting defensive and irrational, well that just concerns me a bit. I learned a lot from this show, but I didn't come out of watching it thinking Reagan was some kind of a monster. I still think Reagan was a good man and a highly successful president. That doesn't mean, however, that we should ignore his shortcomings or deny the dangers of his success.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)
Not objectively horrible, but my family hated it
All I will say is this: Netflix should have made it obvious from the trailer that this was a musical.
Explained (2018)
Intriguing show!
I've been watching this show for a while now, and I love it! Some reviewers have complained about the show's gaps in information and sometimes biased viewpoints, but if you really want an in depth and objective overview of a specific subject, just look it up. The internet is there to help you. If you want to get a quick understanding of lots of different topics, then this is a great show for you! It is extremely well put together and brings up some very interesting points to think about. I look forward to watching it every week!
