Entrapped (2022)
3rd time didn't cut it
I lived the first season of Trapped, the atmosphere, the plot twists, the SNOW. It as all there.
Second one was very good too but int his third installment, we stopped somewhere mid-season. Literally NOTHING HAPPENS. People talking on the phone, then they ride the car and go somewhere else, talk a bit, then bring somebody for interrogation then back, then more talking and.. That was it for us. One of the few series we ever stopped.
Jusy landscapes and roads and talking and who is connected to whom and why and of course some unnecessary gay romance which really felt out of place. And imagine that we also currently enjoy UNCOUPLED very kuch so we dont belong in the wrong side of people. We just felt like "oh yes it has to be a bit of this as well"
Really sad as we like all the characters but... No time to lose.
Echoes (2022)
All good except...
Sheriff Floss!
Its been years since I've watched such a badly written, predictable and over acting character.
OK, we get it that you have to have a female and black sheriff. That's cool. I prefer it.
But This actor ruined it for me.
She tried to make a caricature out of it, like something to be remembered but she was SO annoying and poor. Damn, evwrytine I was getting to the feeling and atmosphere of the film, there she was, Floss, with her ultra ironic and seen-a-bazillion times character reminding me I'm watching Netflix.
Cool story and filming though, worth your time, I would give it an 8 easily.
CODA (2021)
The perfect movie doesn't exi...
I'm a musician so this got somewhat deeper I me. All was going great until she started singing in front of her family. That was it for me. Couldn't stop crying until the end of the movie. Goes immediately on my #1 beating Green Mile, Midnight Express, A Separation and Lala Land. THANK YOU GUYS.
Rise (2022)
If I weren't...
... Greek and proud as f for this family and if I weren't a sports fan, I would think that it was a terrible movie.
Everything screams Disney from miles away.
The colors, the light, the filming were so off-putting. Acting was barely OK, dialogues were cheesy AF, no wonder the last 2 minutes with the real footage and the story of the family were the highlight.
A missed opportunity, but don't get me wrong, Yannis and his family wanted to do this and I hope it inspires a lot of kids around the world (who probably can't afford Disney+ but that's another story)
RIP Charles, it was nice to hear your story.
Beautiful Boy (2018)
Good cast, great acting, true story!
Enjoyed this one more than expected. Sone "familiar" actors here and there made a great story even better and kudos to Steve Carell for this choice and everyone for an unexpectedly great acting!
Okkupert (2015)
I'm in episode 6 and it kicks a**!!!
This is a great well done show, very dark but with bright daylight action that doesn't fatigue you. The scenario is great and acting convincing. It's dystopian but still so real and feels so... Like it's all ready happening.
Go for it, it's a good one. I will update my score as I proceed with the series. So far so good so great!
Lost (2004)
If there is a TV God...
... Then he would allow the last episode to be aired. That's the reason I'm giving this show a 9 instead of a 10 that only shows like BB deserve. It was for most of the people our first touch with binge watching, even TV show as a whole. The journey was marvelous but the destination wasn't.
Still I try to convince my wife to watch it with me, but she wouldn't. In any case, Lost showed the way for modern TV Dramas.
Bienvenidos a Edén (2022)
In for something special..?
... Not here. Pretty obvious from the first 5 minutes, the CASA DE Papel recipe with nicknames (Africa, Chopin etc) was a turn off right off the bat. I'm totally into dystopian, battle Royale etc, but this is OK if you are below 20. Lasted for 2 episodes and that was about it.
Forooshande (2016)
Those who rated it lower than 7...
... Fast And Furious 7 is out on the cinemas, I bet you will love it as much as the other 6.
Watched this after watching the "A Separation". Same cast, same writer and director, same urban setting on a simple staircase and yet so breathtaking with so many magnificent performances. Another must watch by Iran.
Kynodontas (2009)
It is as good as...
... Smelling your dirty socks after 2 hours of mid-summer football game.
You know they stink, but you find a small happiness in doing it. That's what I feel about this film. As pretentious as it might ever get, oh and before I forget:IT'S A STOLEN Idea. I was furious when I watched the original Mexican film cause at least that one had a resolution. It's too "artsy" for me to leave a film unfinished, sorry not for me.
Stay Close (2021)
All good except the silly couple.
Rated it a 7 instead of 8 cause of these two characters. They were really killing the mood and realism.plus the only dancing killers acceptable for me are the ones in Clockwork Orange and the Joker.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
A perfect 7
Great cinematography, acting and everything with strong feelings.
A slow paced Modern western with clever and open ending, a nice Netflix watch, would definitely rate it lower if I paid to watch it on the big screen.
Manifest (2018)
"Lost" in soap
Just like most people already mentioned, it starts pretty dynamic, then goes full on soap opera "trust me and I love you and the power is within your heart" and bs like that.
I'm Somewhere around mid-season 2 but I don't see it getting anywhere. Also there was no need to kill the NSA agent, unless he read the finale and said "that's it, im out"
I mentioned "Lost" more than 10 times to my wife who hasn't seen it, perhaps I can trick her in watching it with me :-)
Onyl highlight is Athena Karkanis who also appears on 2 of my favorite video games, Farcry 6 and AC Odyssey!
Equinox (2020)
Too many people,too little time
Gave this show 25 mins of my life.
Felt good, then you a couple,a murder, the couple on younger age, another couple on another timeline, then on the current timeline you get their parents flirting, the kids flirting, one thousand names and the only one who sticks in your head is the cousin.
Sorry, but thats why Casa De Papel was a hit: in 5 minutes you know everyone by their name and character.
Thank tou,next.
Maniac (2018)
A Kubrick's tribute, but not even close to an Epic
Just finished watching this series with a big "meh" on my face. Then came here to read all these raving reviews.
Original? Visuals?
Sorry guys but you need to do your homework.
90% of what you see is already 30 years old and done by Stanley Kubrick.
The talking/emotional main female computer?
Haha, same like "Space Odyssey"
The rest is just from "The Shining".
The finale...nothing you wouldn't have guessed from the first episodes if you have ever watched another movie on your life.
Score goes only for the acting of Jonah Hill and Emma Stone, these two guys just raise the bar SO MUCH.
Also there is no suspense to make you watch the next episode except from the first 2-3 ones.
Seemed more like a stretched movie.
Still a cool change from the usual crime and doctor and lawyer trash we are full of.
And I liked the concept that it's in a world with technology but without internet and cellphones.
Yeah that was good.
